Posh Garments in Bangladesh demonstrates a strong commitment to implementing

Introduction

Bangladesh is one of the world’s leading producers of clothing and textiles.


Bangladesh’s garment and textile sector is also one of the top areas in the
manufacturing industry, with low labour costs, the largest labour force in the country and
state-of-the-art technology. Fashion trends shift often, necessitating the production of
clothing in a wide range of colurs, designs, and fabrications. Posh Garments is a major
garment manufacturer in Bangladesh. Posh Garments employs approximately 1200
trained employees and professional staff that work tirelessly to provide the best things
to clients, as well as a diverse variety of clothing manufacturing and a large production
capacity. Their experienced team of over 1200 people is capable of working with a wide
range of light materials and textiles, such as cotton, polyester, viscose, rayon, Tencel,
satin, chiffon, and others. The industry may add more value to the products by using
various types of wash, such as enzyme, bleach, garment, cool dye, and so on. This can
also be performed by adding printing, embroidery, heat press, decorations, sequence,
ornaments, and other embellishments to the goods. Posh apparel comprises anything
from casual skirts, blouses, ladies’ nightwear and lingerie for women. They also make
children’s apparel, such as shirts, baby gowns, pants, and school uniforms. They have a
huge assortment of formal and casual shirts, boxers and boxer shorts for men. Posh
Garments Ltd also makes hotel and hospital uniforms, as well as numerous sorts of
work wear for professionals and workers. Bangladesh’s apparel manufacturing industry
has long been an essential aspect of the country’s economy. Posh Garments was
founded in 1984 as a clothing producer and exporter. When it originally began, it was a
small factory with only 60 sewing machines. After 37 years in business, they’ve evolved
into a fully consistent clothing manufacturing firm with 14 sewing lines. With
management skills, a versatile production platform, a highly skilled workforce and
experienced staff, they currently mass-produce and ship millions of garments around
the world. Posh garments’ vision is to be an one-of-a-kind garment manufacturing
solution.

Background:
It all started as a small garment manufacturing unit in Tejgaon, the industrial part of Dhaka.
Incorporated in 1984, Posh Garments has been engaged in manufacturing & exporting apparel
primarily to Europe. Specializing in value added fashion products, the current product range
includes ladies blouse & tops, basic skirts, dress, uniforms and men’s casual wear shirts. Though
relatively small compared to contemporary manufacturer in Bangladesh, Posh Garments has a
highly skilled work force, experienced staff and more than 30 years of expertise in apparel
manufacturing. It’s focus is on quality, on time delivery and commitment towards maintaining a safe
workplace for its employees.

Vision: Posh Garments vision is to be the leading and most admired garment company in
Bangladesh, known for innovation, quality, and ethical practices in the fashion industry.

Mission: To provide trendy, high-quality garments that exceed customer expectations

Posh Garments is obviously one of Bangladesh’s greatest dress manufacturers, with its

ACCORD. They are fully committed towards maintaining a safe working environment for their
employees. It’s core functions are based on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). They strive
continuously to reduce wastage of materials and increase production efficiency. They ensure
product safety, zero discharge of any chemicals and recycling of all waste raw materials – fabric,
paper, plastic, metal, etc. Meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is of utmost
importance for Posh Garments. It not only ensures Posh Garment’s long-term viability and
competitiveness but also promotes sustainable and ethical practices. Posh garments is also

range of products. The core products of Posh Garments are ladies blouses,
tops, dresses, skirts, jumpsuits, loungewear, nightwear, or sleepwear. We also manufacture girls'
dresses, tops, and skirts.
For men and boys, we manufacture casual wear shirts, boxers and boxer shorts, swim shorts, and
sleepwear. Hotel, school uniforms, and hospital uniforms are niche products that we manufacture
and export to many countries.

Methodology:
Descriptive research was conducted to identify different dimension of compliance quantitative in
ready management practices in readymade garments industry in Bangladesh. As result of
researchers were prevented from visiting the factory. For this reason, we have ignored the direct
data collection and surveys. Consequently the research techniques, has relied on secondary data,
collected through case studies, research articles, thesis paper, newspaper, online news and survey
reports, manufacturing industries annual reports, BGMEA yearly reports and files. The data was
collected through a number of techniques. Posh garments was incorporated as an apparel
manufacturer and an exporter in the year 1984. 80% of workers in posh garments are women.
These women are empowered and contribute vastly to the socio-economic development of
Bangladesh. Posh garments used operation management for design of product, quality
management, process capacity design, supply chain management, inventory management,
strategies for reducing high product cost. Posh garments used management information system
for E-Commerce, Marketing , privacy, globalization etc.

Results and Discussion :


Posh Garments was incorporated as an apparel manufacturer and an exporter in the year 1984. In
the early days, it was a small factory having 60 sewing machines. After operating for 37years, It
grown to a fully compliant apparel manufacturer with 14 sewing lines. It has the management
expertise, a flexible production platform, a highly skilled workforce, and experienced staff to
churn out millions of pieces of garments and export them all over the world.
According to, wasim zakariah, the director of posh garment - ‘After serving 35 years in
apparel manufacturing and on time shipment of quality goods, Posh Garments ltd. is now
reviving form small factory into a flexible production platform with a highly skilled workforce
and experienced staff. Achieving customer's satisfaction in this long run, Posh Garment's has
reached several milestones in both local and international levels that wouldn't have been possible
without our loyal and diligent board of directors. Irrespective of the order quantity, you can rest
assured knowing that our skilled and dedicated team members will produce the goods with high
quality and craftsmanship.’
Posh garment quantitative practices :
Technology and automation can play a critical role where the cost of investment can offset the
high cost of manual labour, low productivity and consistent quality. As to the future growth
plans, consolidation is a mantra to attain growth as increase the efficiency, diversify product
offerings, focus more on promoting products, manufacture more value-added garments and
export to non-traditional countries while also increasing the number of buyers.
Posh garment has a very flexible production platform and production team also has the required
skills and expertise to successfully manage smaller MOQs. But yes when it comes to the price
points, it is a challenge while dealing with the big brands and retailers in small MOQs but not as
much with the smaller played boutiques.
Today, the company has grown to become a fully compliant apparel manufacturer with 12
sewing lines manufacturing a wide range of apparel for men, women and children. It caters to
high-street retailers and brands, cutting across geographical locations, especially in Europe. Posh
Garments has a very flexible production platform and a highly skilled workforce, churning out
millions of pieces of garments in different fabrications.
Moving towards completing four decades of its existence, Posh Garments is more into value-
added garments rather than basic. Its primary product category is ladies’ blouses and dresses. It
recently started manufacturing skirts and women’s trousers, thus offering a wide range of
products in a single segment (ladies). The company was willing to increase its product range, as
buyers were looking for more products in one segment in one factory rather than going to the
different factories where only tops or bottoms are made.
