Being a leader is not an easy task, because there are too many responsibilities to
oversee. Being a leader of a movement, advocacy or a simple project at school is an act of
courage because you will guide the people towards victory. In connection with the video,
young people today are brave because they are not afraid to voice out their opinion when
the events that are happening are wrong for example the issue of passing the anti-terror
bill which is harmful because it can violate human rights, as a result, youth groups
organized a rally in UP in order to show their dismay to the bill and voice out their opinion
that the government should focus on strengthening the COVID19 response instead of
passing the bill (Atienza, 2020). During this pandemic, a lot of the young people are aware
of the events whether good or bad in which resulted in them taking initiative in order to
fight social injustices and promote their advocacy, thus we can say that youth can make an
impact and change.
Natalie Warne is one of the young people, who proved that being young is not a
hindrance to change something and doing better for those people who are marginalized.
She exhibited her leadership in different situations in fighting the 25-year-old war in Africa
which its victim are mostly children. First, she was eager and dedicated to achieve her goals
which are to rescue the victims of the war and stop the war. Second, she is a young person
who dreams big and made things that are impossible possible just like her reaching Ophrah
Winfrey. Third, she made an effort to achieve those dreams despite her suffering from
kidney infection due to the amount of caffeine she drank just to finish the paperwork for
her advocacy. Lastly, she didn’t let the spotlight change her, because Ophrah Winfrey
noticed instead she made sure to pass that bill in order to save the victims.
Natalie Warne has all the qualities of how a leader should be, which made her
sacrifices worth it. First, she has a kind and empathetic heart, because she felt a sudden
urge to do something after watching the movie, which made her advocate for the rights of
the victim. Second, she is strategic in making a plan, because in order for them to make a
change they need a person who is popular enough to make their advocacy become known
to the people around the world which is Ophrah Winfrey. Third, she is truly passionate

about helping others, because this young girl at the age of 18 chose to become an advocate
of those people who didn’t have a relationship with her and made a huge effort for them
even if she’s getting sick. Fourth, she didn’t forget the anonymous extraordinary people
that help her in achieving greater feats and thank them for sticking with her until the end.
Lastly, she isn’t afraid to set her goal high even if it is impossible, she will make it come into
action just for the sake of the victims of the war.
Natalie Warnes is a truly exceptional example of what it is to be like a youth leader.
She achieved great things at a young age. Organizations in the Philippines like Anakbayan
are groups of young people who are politically aware and constantly criticize the bad
governance that is happening in the country are truly remarkable because they are not
afraid in fighting the rights of other people even though that some of them were red-tagged.
In conclusion, leadership must be taught in school, because one of the youths today might
be the key in solving the social injustices that are happening around the world, they just
need someone who will support them and guide them. It is important that we must
encourage the youth not only in the Philippines but around the world to participate in the
things that will help anyone or anything such as simple community activity which may
spark the heart of one of the young people like Natalie Warne to achieve something greater.
With that said, Dr. Jose Rizal was right to say that the youth is the hope of the world.
