LISTENING SECTION
In this section of the test, you will have the chance to show how well you understand spoken English. There are 4 parts
to this section, with special directions for each part.

Part I – Pictures
Question 1 to 3
Directions :
For each item, there is picture in your test book and for short statements about it on the tape. These statements will be
spoken twice, but are NOT WRITTEN out in your test book, so you must listen carefully. You must choose one
statement A, B, C, or D that best describes the picture. Then, mark your choice on your answer sheet.
Example:

A. The baby strollers are on sale.


B. The trolleys are being rented.
C. The basket needs to be refilled.
D. The shopping carts are stuck together.

Choice (D) ~ “The shopping carts are stuck together.” — best describes What is seen in the picture. Therefore, you
should mark (D) on your answer sheet.

Part II – Questions – Responses


Question 4 to 7
Direction:
In this part of the test, you will hear several questions spoken in English, followed by four responses, also spoken in
English. The questions and responses will be spoken twice. They are not printed in your test book. So you must listen
carefully to understand what the speakers say. You have to choose the best response to each question.
Now listen to a sample question!
You will hear : “ Could you help me bring this suitcase?
You will also hear : A. Yes it’s very heavy
B. Sure, no problem.
C. No, this suitcase is mine.
Choice (B) “Sure, no problem” is the appropriate response to the question “Could you help me bring this suitcase?”
Therefore, you should mark (B) on your answer sheet.

4. Woman : What did you do last holiday?

Questions 8 to 11
Direction:
In this part of the test, you will hear several short conversations. You will hear the conversations TWICE. The
conversations will not be printed in your test book, so you must listen carefully to understand what the speakers say. In
your test book, you will read a question about each conversation. The question will be followed by four answers. You
have to choose the best answer to each question and markit on your answer sheet.
Example:
You will hear :
Man : Can I help you?
Woman : Yes, I’m looking for a sweater.
Man : What size are you?
Woman : I’m a medium size.
You will read:
Where does the dialogue probably take place?
A. At a hospital
B. At a station
C. At a shop
D. At a shop
Answer (C) “at a shop” is the best answer to the question “Where does the dialogue probably take place?” Therefore,
you should mark (C) on your answer sheet.

8. Man : I heard your father works in the new hospital.


Woman : Yes, he’s just started work there.
Man : What does he do?
Woman : He helps the doctor treat the patients.

book, so you must listen carefully to understand and remember what is said.
In your test book, you will read two or more questions about each short talk. Each question will be followed by four
answers. You have to choose the best answer to each question and mark it on your answer sheet.

Questions 12 and 13 refer to the following text.

Will solar energy ever be a main source of energy for industrial societies? The solar energy is cheaper than
any fossil fuell because we can get the abundant source of energy from the sun.
In sunny deserts, the sun’s radiation that reaches the ground can be used to produce electricity for industries and
homes. In one of experiment, solar ponds can produce hot water to drive generators.
Unfortunately, we can’t power our homes entirely on sunlight. Solar energy can only be exploited in bright light. Its
great potential, therefore, is in countries that have clear skies for most of the year. Most houses, however, are not in
the sunniest part of the world. In addition to convert sunlight directly into electricity, solar cells are needed.
Although they are very cheap to turn, relatively they are expensive to buy and many people can’t afford them.
