SIMPLE SENTENCE
A simple sentence has one independent clause.

Simple sentence is a sentence that has one subject and
one verb and expresses a complete idea and word.
SIMPLE SENTENCE
A simple sentence has this format when making a sentence or
expressing an idea:
(Subject) + (Verb)

EXAMPLE
1. He (subject) dances (verb)

2. Jackson (subject) kicks (verb) the soccer ball.

The sentences contain one subject and one verb.

COMPOUND SENTENCE
What is A compound sentence? It comprises several
independent clauses, lacking any dependent clauses. Since
these independent clauses stand alone as complete
sentences, they require appropriate punctuation to connect
them, such as a comma and a conjunction (for, as, nor, but,
or, yet, so) or a semicolon. Both instances call for the two
clauses to be closely connected to form a unified sentence.
EXAMPLE
1. She loves to read novels, but he prefers watching movies.
2. The sun was shining brightly, so we decided to go for a picnic.
3. He didn't study for the exam, yet he still managed to get a good grade.
4. I wanted to go for a run, or I could stay home and watch TV.
5. The concert was sold out, and we couldn't find tickets anywhere.
Each of these sentences contains two independent clauses joined together
by coordinating conjunctions like "but," "so," "yet," "or," and "and."
COMPLEX SENTENCE
A complex sentence is a sentence that contains one
independent clause and at least one dependent clause. An
Independent clause is a sentence that can stand alone, while
a dependent clause cannot stand alone as a sentence and
relies on the independent clause to give it meaning. Complex
Sentence Provide more information to explain the sentence.
EXAMPLE
1. The school is being suspended tomorrow, due to heavy rain.
2. I need to finish my plate because the deadline is tomorrow.
3. I will go to the park if I complete all my activities in ELMS.
4. Once I have saved enough money, I will be able to buy a camera.
5. Although I'm not feeling well, I still have to go in because I might have an
activity to do.

The independent and dependent clause became connected because of the

conjunction used such as "due to", "because","If I","Once",and Although.
COMPOUND COMPLEX SENTENCE
What is a compound complex? A compound-complex
sentence is a combination of a compound sentence with
two or more independent clauses and one or more
dependent clauses. Sentences combine independent and
dependent clauses to express complex ideas, commonly
used in both spoken and written language to convey
various information and relationships between ideas.
EXAMPLE
1. The bird was sitting on his perch and he was happily eating his food, but
then he fell.

2. The dog started barking so the cat ran away and I couldn't keep up, so I
stopped.

3. She likes to sleep in but she can get up early if she has work.
The conjunction "and" is commonly used in compound-complex sentences,
but other coordinating conjunctions like "but," "or," "nor," "for," "yet," and
"so" can also be used depending on the clause's relationship.
Conclusion
In conclusion, understanding the four types of
sentences simple, compound, complex, and
compound-complex helps us communicate
effectively. Simple sentences express one idea
clearly, compound sentences combine two
ideas with a conjunction, complex sentences
have a main idea and one or more dependent
clauses, and compound-complex sentences
include multiple independent and dependent
clauses. Mastering these sentence types
improves our writing and speaking skills.
