COMPONENT TIME LIMITS

1. Component Time Limits
A. All components not listed herein should be inspected as detailed elsewhere in this chapter and repaired, overhauled or
replaced as required. Items shown here should be overhauled or replaced during the regular maintenance periods falling due
nearest to the specified limit.
CAUTION: Items that are underlined are Chapter 4, Airworthiness Limitations requirements. Refer to Chapter 4,
Airworthiness Limitations for additional information.
B. The replacement life for each component listed in this section applies to the part throughout its life on the original installation
and on later installations. The life (number of hours or number of landings) must be recorded individually for these components
and must remain with the component during removal. For example, if a component is removed for overhaul, it must be tagged
with the life (number of hours or number of landings) to the date of removal and this tag must remain with the component
throughout the overhaul process. (Overhaul of a component does not zero time the life of the component). When received from
overhaul and installed on an airplane the life of the component must be recorded to allow continued accumulation toward the life
limit.
C. Components which have exceeded overhaul or replacement times due to a current change in the inspection program, may
continue in service, if the component is serviceable, and the component is immediately scheduled for overhaul or replacement
component ordered. Possible delays resulting from component shortage or overhaul schedules shall not result in extending time
past 60 days.
2. Schedule
A. Air Conditioning (Chapter 21).
(1) Environment Control Unit (Hamilton Standard) (Overhaul)
NOTE: Overhaul interval is a recommended economic overhaul period defined by Hamilton Standard for
Air Cycle Machine. For additional information refer to Hamilton Standard Service Information
Release SIR R70-3W-13 dated 31 May 1985.
(2) Overhead Cabin Fan (Part Number 9912323-2) (Replace) -- 1000 hours.
(3) Vapor Cycle Cooling System Compressor Drive Motor Brushes (Compressor Motors 1134104-1, -5 or FWA1134104-1, -
5) - Replace every 500 compressor hours.
NOTE: Refer to the GM R134A Enviro Systems Inc. General Operating, Servicing and Maintenance Manual.
B. Communications (Chapter 23).
(1) Cockpit Voice Recorder Underwater Locator Beacon Battery (Discard) - Replace every 6 years.
C. Fire Protection (Chapter 26).
(1) Engine fire extinguisher cartridges SERVICE LIFE (Note 1) and TOTAL LIFE (Note 2) by part number.

life cannot exceed ten (10) years.
NOTE 1:
Service life is the amount of time the explosive cartridge is installed in a fire extinguisher. The service life of any
particular explosive cartridge cannot be extended.
NOTE 2:
Total life starts on the day the cartridge is made and must be replaced at a specific time. A date (month/year) is
stamped or marked on the plastic bag containing the cartridge or on the cartridge body. Total life cannot be
extended and includes any mix of time the explosive cartridge is kept on the shelf and/or installed in a fire
extinguisher.

(2) Engine Fire Extinguisher Container. Complete a hydrostatic test every 60 calendar months. Refer to Task 26-20-00-780.
(3) Cockpit and Cabin mounted Halon-Type Fire Extinguisher. Complete a hydrostatic test every 12 years. Refer to Task 26-
20-01-782.
D. Flight Controls (Chapter 27).
(1) Flap Gearbox (Part Number 5565175-18, 5565175-28, 5565175-31 and 5565175-38) (Overhaul) -- 3000 hours
(2) Flap Gearbox (Part Number 5565175-41) (Overhaul) -- 6000 hours
E. Indicating/Recording Systems (Chapter 31).
(1) Flight Data Recorder Underwater Locating Beacon Battery (Discard) - Replace every 6 years.
F. Landing Gear (Chapter 32)
(1) Brake assembly Goodrich P/N 2-1528-6 or 2-1530-4 with stator disks part number 133-893-2, that are impression
stamped "-" OR "A". -- Replace 749 landings
(2) Main Gear
NOTE: The main gear assemblies consist of the following components, which have life limits as listed. The
serials listed for the main gear assemblies and their components are those as the airplane was
originally built. Any component replaced during normal maintenance or by a service bulletin are
not reflected in this table. The individual airplane maintenance records must be consulted for part
numbers of replacement parts. If it is not possible to verify the part numbers of the individual
components currently installed on a specific gear assembly, the like component having the lowest
replacement life limit must be assumed.

during normal maintenance or by a service bulletin are not reflected in this table. The individual
airplane maintenance records must be consulted for part numbers of replacement parts. If it is not
possible to verify the part numbers of the individual components currently installed on a specific
gear assembly, the like component having the lowest replacement life limit must be assumed.
NOTE: The following components are included in the nose gear assembly and attaching hardware, and
