IMPORTANT ABE
1) Major and minor body repair? how it is performed?
Ans- major body repair means complete repair of a body panel which is
damaged highly due to rust, accident, bending, weathering, etc.
In major body repair various work is performed according to requirement.
This are denting, panel replacement, welding, patchwork, sanding and
painting, rust removing treatment, etc.
Minor body repair parts are mostly not replaced, they are repaired with use
of various technique. This helps in reducing the cost of repair.

2) Wind tunnel test and its importance?
Ans- Wind tunnel test is performed on vehicle for calculating their
aerodynamic, drag, vehicle stability and behaviour of wind at high speeds.
This test helps the engineers improve aerodynamic performance reducing
drag ensuring vehicle will be stable and controllable at high speed.
Importance
Helps in calculating and reducing drag which helps inn increasing fuel
economy.
Helps vehicle maintain stability at high speed
Helps in enhancing vehicle design
How it is performed?
For wind tunnel testing prototype of vehicle is placed under wind tunnel
tube. This tunnel has big fan and flaps placed at one side, the fan pulls the
air through the tunnel and flaps control the direction of air.
The vehicle is placed inside the tunnel and tunnel is turned on the speed
of air flow is controlled by controlling the speed of fan. As air flows a
coloured gas is also passed over the car so the air flow can be viewed.
Upon the behaviour of air , drag, drag coefficient, aerodynamics,
streamlining, of vehicle is measured using various tools. This help in
analysing design changes that are required, stability of vehicle at high
speed, etc.
3) Types of paint used in body work.
Ans-
Lacquer
Enamel
Urethane
Acrylic
4) Types of plastic used
Ans-
Poly- vinyl chloride
Polypropylene
Polystyrene
polyoxymethylene
polyamide
Polyethylene
Glass reinforced plastic
Fiber reinforced plastic
Carbon Fiber reinforced plastic
5) Difference between conventional and utilized construction
conventional utilized
In conventional type body and In this type of construction body
chassis are different and chassis are a single part
Chassis can be sepeated from body It is a one integrated structure
hence cannot be separated.
Repair and modification work can Repair and modification are
be done easily difficult
Better strength as chassis act as Entire structure is self-supporting.
structural support and body carries
passengers.
Weight is more Weight is less
Used for heavy vehicles as it Used for small vehicles for
provides better strength gaining stability and less weight
E.g., Jeep, truck E.g., Car
6) Importance of crash test
Ans – crash test is performed on vehicle by hitting a vehicle on a hard
surface or a wall at a certain speed. Human like dummies is also placed
inside this vehicle during testing. Crash test is performed for knowing the
structural integrate of vehicle and its ability to save passengers in case of
an accident.
Test results are calculated by observing the damage caused to vehicle,
dummy body and components.
Importance
Helps in understanding weak points in frame
Helps in understanding strength of frame
Helps in understanding working of various safety equipment’s and
their efficiency.
Helps in understanding various changes that need to be made in
construction of vehicle.
Type of crash test are
Front impact collision
Side collision
Rollover test
Corner collision
Drop test on roof, bonnet of vehicle
7) Meaning of automobile?
Ans-
Auto- self, mobile- moving is a Latin Greek word used first in 1897.
Important questions
