To what extent was sephora able to stick to its ethical code by marketing its product

Sephora, a prominent multinational beauty retailer, was established in 1969 in France and has
become renowned for its extensive selection of cosmetics from a variety of brands. Sephora's
open-sell concept provides customers with the freedom to explore and test products in-store,
which enhances the overall shopping experience. They have a wide range of products including
makeup, skincare, fragrances, and hair care. Their offerings cater to a diverse clientele,
providing both luxury and affordable options. Sephora places great importance on training its
employees to provide customers with helpful and informed assistance. Sephora USA, Inc. has
implemented stringent measures to address the serious issues of human trafficking and slavery
within its supply chain, demonstrating a strong commitment to ethical practices. The Supplier
Code of Conduct strictly prohibits any form of labor exploitation, including forced labor, human
trafficking, underage labor, harassment, and abuse. Audits and monitoring are conducted to
ensure that these standards are upheld. Our internal procedures effectively tackle labor
violations, ensuring that our supply chain managers are well-trained to handle these critical
issues. Sephora's unwavering dedication to upholding moral and legal standards is evident
through its vigilant monitoring of human rights violations and promotion of ethical practices.
Sephora's ethical code is in line with its marketing strategy, which focuses on a diverse range of
products. This demonstrates their dedication to responsible sourcing, as well as their extensive
selection of beauty products. Sephora is really committed to following its ethical code when
promoting its wide variety of beauty products.
In my adolescent years, I frequently shopped at Sephora and was influenced by their brands.
However, I grew concerned about animal mistreatment and poor working conditions within their
supplier companies. Researching Sephora's brands became a necessity, as I was disheartened
to discover instances of animal cruelty linked to some of their products. This raises ethical
questions about Sephora's support for such companies. This essay evaluates Sephora's ethical
stance and market strategy, as companies should not compromise ethics for profit. Society
should not turn a blind eye to child labor and animal testing, and customers can drive change
through ethical choices, promoting accountability in corporations. This essay will dive deep into
the analysis and examination of Sephora’s ethical code, as well as their marketing strategy,
using articles and secondary data to research on whether or not Sephora is abiding by its own
claims.
Methodology used is very brief, you need to give a more detailed plan of what you will be
discussing and the business tools you will be using. Also you need to elaborate more on
the secondary data, like what article you will be using etc. also mention the importance of

Sephora has integrated corporate social responsibility (CSR) into their business plan. Its ethical
code emphasizes the importance of balancing philanthropic, ethical, legal, and economic
responsibilities. Sephora demonstrates commitment to corporate social responsibility through its
efforts to promote ethical and sustainable sourcing, HOW?
prioritize environmental conservation, and actively reduce its carbon footprint. How ?These
actions align with the organization's ethical code and marketing strategy, demonstrating a
commitment to maintaining a positive brand image and appealing to socially and
environmentally conscious consumers.
The company has seamlessly integrated its corporate social responsibility initiatives with its
overall business goals. The company has upheld its dedication to social responsibility by
promoting and marketing products that align with ethical and sustainable values, all while
ensuring its financial success remains intact. How ?
However from what I have been seeing they are not effectively following their ethical code and
social responsibility by promoting and encouraging people to buy products that are harmful to
the environment, and that are harming innocent animals. Especially since there are many other
ways for businesses to carry out their practices and it can be seen in a few of the cosmetics
brands available at sephora such as milk makeup, hourglass, and urban decay. So the question
is, why can't sephora implement rules and regulations for these brands to follow?

Sephora has done a great job with marketing the products that they sell, however they do not
need to work as hard as other companies since they are more like distributors of cosmetics
brands, meaning that their work is in some way cut out for them.
