A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS

I.OBJECTIVES
At the end of 60-minute lesson, 80% of the Grade 8 students should be
able to:

a. recall conditions on triangle congruence postulates and theorem;

b. illustrate perpendicular lines and angle bisectors by construction; and
c. apply triangle congruence to construct perpendicular lines and angle
bisectors.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Applying Triangle Congruence to construct perpendicular and angle
bisector: applies triangle congruence to construct perpendicular lines and
angle bisector.

Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activity

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. Greetings & Prayer

-before we start, please all stand

-Let us seek the presence and

intercession of our Lord as we begin our (student A starts praying)
class. Student A, kindly lead us the -amen
prayer.

-good morning class! -good morning sir

-before you sit kindly fix yourselves, put

all the unnecessary things in your chair
and be ready

-you may now take your sit -thank you sir

2. Checking of Attendance

-if I call your name say present okay?

(starts calling their names) (present, absent)

3. Review of the past lesson

-Before we proceed to our new lesson

for today, let’s have first a review
about our lesson last meeting.

-what is an angle bisector? -a line, ray or segment that divides an

angle into two equal angles.

-how will you describe the bisector of a -a line, ray or segment that divides a
segment? segment into two equal parts.

-what is perpendicular line? -perpendicular lines are lines that

intersects forming a right angle or a
90-degree angle.

-how will you describe a perpendicular -a perpendicular bisector of a segment

bisector of a segment? is a ray that is perpendicular to the line
segment and divides the segment into
2 congruent parts.
-okay very good!
B. MOTIVATION

1. Line segment WX congruent to line

segment YX
2. Z is midpoint of line segment WY
3. Line segment XZ
4. Line segment XZ congruent to line
segment XZ
5. Triangle WXZ congruent to triangle
YXZ

C. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON

1. Presentation of the lesson
objectives

a. recall conditions on triangle

congruence postulates and theorem;
b. illustrate perpendicular lines and
angle bisectors by construction; and
c. apply triangle congruence to
construct perpendicular lines and angle
bisectors.

1. ACTIVITY
Group yourselves into 4 groups

Put each letter to their corresponding

area.
2. ANALYSIS

Based from your activity, what have you -i observed the triangle congruence
observed? Yes, Student C. postulates and theorems

-very good observation.

-in addition, when we are talking about

3. ABSTRACTION
4.
For today class, we are going to discuss
all about triangle congruence postulates
and theorems.

1. Side - Side - Side (SSS) Congruence

Postulate

2. Side - Angle -
Side (SAS) Congruence Postulate

3. Angle - Side -
Angle (ASA) Congruence Postulate

4. Angle - Angle -
Side (AAS) Congruence Postulate

5. Hypotenuse - Leg (HL) Theorem

6. Leg - Acute (LA) Angle Theorem

7. Hypotenuse - Acute (HA) Angle

Theorem

8. Leg - Leg (LL) Theorem

5. APPLICATION
- base on our lesson, everyone we will
prove that two triangles are congruent.

In the diagram given below, prove

that ΔEFG ≅ ΔJHG.

6. EVALUATION
1/2 sheet of paper

Give what is being ask

1. If two sides and the included angle of one triangle are equal to two sides
and the included angle of another triangle, then the two triangles are
congruent.
Ans: SAS Congruence Postulate

2. If two angles and the included side of one triangle are equal to two angles
and the included side of another triangle, then the two triangles are
congruent.
Ans: ASA Congruence Postulate

3. If two angles and non-included side of one triangle are equal to two
angles and the corresponding non-included side of another triangle,
then the two triangles are congruent.
Ans:AAS Congruence postulate

4. If the hypotenuse and one leg of a right triangle are equal to the
hypotenuse and one leg of another right triangle, then the two right triangles
are congruent.
Ans: HL Theorem

5. If a leg and an acute angle of one right triangle are congruent to the
corresponding parts of another right triangle, then the two right triangles are
congruent.
ans: LA Angle Theorem

7.ASSIGNMENT
1 whole sheet of paper

- Any question or clarification with your -none sir

assignment?

- Since you have no more questions,

please stand up for our closing prayer.

(The teacher lead the closing Prayer) -amen

-Goodbye class -goodbye sir!
