2. 2 is a very interesting number as it is both an even number and a prime
number
3. 6 or 9 are very funny as their value stays the same if flipped

SHORTCUTS IN MULTIPLICATIONS
Activity no.1
If you want to get the correct value of multiples of 8 follow the
following steps:-
1) Write the following numbers vertically on the left hand side of the
paper: 0,1,2,3,4,4,5,6,7,8,8,9.
2) Then write the even numbers starting from 8 then descend
downwards vertically once you reach 0 restart from 8 again
The paper will appear in this way
8 x 1 = 08
8 x 2 = 16
8 x 3 = 24
8 x 4 = 32
8 x 5 = 40
8 x 6 = 48
8 x 7 = 56
8 x 8 = 64
8 x 9 = 72
8 x 10 = 80
8 x 11 = 88
8 x 12 = 96

Activity no.2
If you want to get the correct multiples of table 9 follow the following
steps;-
1) Write the following numbers vertically going downwards on your
left hand side
0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
2) Then on your left hand side write the same numbers in descending
order
9 x 1 = 09
9 x 2 = 18
9 x 3 = 27
9 x 4 = 36
9 x 5 = 45
9 x 6 = 54
9 x 7 = 63
9 x 8 = 72
9 x 9 = 81
9 x 10 = 90

If you want to get the correct multiples of table 15 follow the following
steps;-
1) The difference on the numbers on the left hand must be in a
pattern of , +2 ,+1,+2, +1, +2,
2) The numbers on the right hand side, you only have to directly write
5 and 0. But start with 5 first
15 x 1 = 15
15 x 2 = 30
15 x 3 = 45
15 x 4 = 60
15 x 5 = 75
15 x 6 = 90
15 x 7 = 105
15 x 8 = 120
15 x 9 = 135
15 x 10 = 150

Activity no.4
If you want to get the correct multiples of table 16 follow the following
steps;-
1) The difference in pattern on the numbers on left hand side must be
+2,+1,+2,+1,+2and continue but in the first multiple start from 1
2) On the right hand side you must write the last numbers of the
multiples of 6 e.g. 6, 12, 18, 24, 30.

16 x 2 = 32
16 x 3 = 48
16 x 4 = 64
16 x 5 = 80
16 x 6 = 96
16 x 7 = 112
16 x 8 = 128
16 x 9 = 144
16 x 10 = 160

If you want to get the correct multiples of table 18 follow the following
steps;-
1) The difference on the numbers on the left hand must be in a
pattern of: +2, +2. +2, +2, +1.
2) The pattern on the right hand side should be in form of 8,6,4,2,0
and continue

1. Pythagoras( Samos ) he discovered the Pythagoras theory that
states( a2 + b2 = c2) which is used in finding the missing side of a
triangle
2. Shakuntala Devi ( India ); she was the fastest mathematician in the
world holding the Guinness book of world records for fastest
multiplication she was the one who discovered the ms. revolving
number
3. Srinivasa ramanujan ( India ): he was the mathematician who
changed the face of mathematics in the 20 century
4. Albert Einstein ( German ): he introduced general relativity and
special relativity
5. Archimedes ( Italy ): he calculated the exact value of pi and laid
down principles to be used in applied mathematics. He is also
known as the father of mathematics
6. Isaac newton ( British ): he did an invention of calculus and
mathematical principles of natural philosophy
7. David Blackwell ( Afro-American ) : he introduced the Rao-
Blackwell theory
8. Justinian rweyemamu( Tanzania ): he was the first Tanzanian to get
PhD in Harvard university

These are some of the mathematicians who helped in the development of


mathematics
