NARRATIVE REPORT ON BRIGADA ESKWELA 2023

"Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan " was a battle cry for this year's
Brigada Eskwela. The "Brigada Eskwela" has transformed through the years. From a
simple gathering of stakeholders from the community, particularly parents of learners, to
do clean up and minor repairs in school facilities, it has become a "fiesta" or a grand
gathering of partners from both private and public sector coming together for the benefit
of public-school learners.

Pre-implementation Stage
School Facilities Coordinator, Sir Reynaldo B. Lapak, assessed the physical
facilities and maintenance needs with the help of the School Watching Team and
Parents-Teachers Association. Brigada Eskwela Working Committees, was also
created, which was done to ensure teachers, non-teaching personnel, parents, learners,
community members, and stakeholders were all part of the effort. Also, we conducted
public awareness campaigns and established partnerships for resource mobilization,
carefully identified target resources and potential volunteers.

Day 1 - August 14, 2023

During Kick-off Program which was started at 8 am, had a talk about the whole
plan, work assignments, daily activities and other concerns for Brigada Eskwela. After
the program, teachers and volunteers from different organizations went to their
respective tasks. The energy was palpable as volunteers, including eager learners and
dedicated parents, gathered to start Brigada Eskwela. Our initial task was a campus-
wide clean-up involving sweeping the grounds to remove litter and debris. Repainting
and repairing of classrooms, chairs, and other school furniture were started.

Day 2 - August 15, 2023

On second day, more volunteers coming from different institutions such as
Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Costums, arrived. Mayor
Dong Calugay, with his cohort, brought donations and helped repaint Gabaldon
building. The teamwork was inspiring as we assessed classrooms for unnecessary
decorations and posters. Oversized signages with commercial content were removed,
aligning with the guidelines. Volunteers helped in removing distractions from classroom
walls.

classroom walls and ensuring pristine comfort rooms. Volunteers from Poblacion
Barangay Council had started pruning trees. More donations were received like paint
and painting materials, cleaning materials etc. Repainting of classrooms, chairs, and
other school furniture were continued.

Day 4 - August 17, 2023

The involvement of volunteers, including parents, students, and community
members, remained steady on Day 4. Our attention shifted to the outdoor spaces like
trimming trees and plants, gardening. This engagement extended beyond classrooms,
reflecting a holistic commitment to the school environment. Meanwhile, generous
donors like Vice Mayor JC Arcinue, made their presence felt by providing essential
materials.

Day 5 - August 18, 2023S

As we reached the penultimate day of Brigada Eskwela, the daily influx of
volunteers persisted, including parents, learners, and community members. Sweeping
the school grounds became a collective endeavor. On this day, repainting of classroom
walls, chairs, tables were completed. The school fence was started to repaint.

Day 6 - August 19, 2023

On final day, we united to reflect on collective accomplishments. Stakeholders
took pride in the transformed school environment. Our gratitude was extended to the
donors and volunteers who provided essential resources, from cash donations to in kind
donations. Their contributions have been instrumental in realizing our goals. As we
looked ahead, plans were discussed to sustain this spirit of cooperation and ensure an
even more successful Brigada Eskwela.

This year's Brigada Eskwela ensured support for the provision of learning opportunities
while ensuring health, safety and well-being of the learners, teachers and personnel.
The school reached the realization of its goals from receiving strong support from
stakeholders.
