• Samoa is a Polynesian nation in the South Pacific


with a population around 225 700. Known for
its rich culture, traditional practices, and
breathtaking landscapes, it comprises ten islands,
and its capital is Apia.

• Samoa’s currency is the Samoan Tala.
• Samoa's flag, with a vibrant red backdrop and
the Southern Cross, radiates cultural significance
and celestial connection, symbolizing national
pride.

significance and is widely used in daily
communication, while English is also commonly

They also communicate status or respect within a community. The process of getting
a tatau is long and painful, making the act of getting one a deeper reflection of an
individual’s devotion to the community.

Siva Afi - Fire Knife Dancing
Siva Afi refers to fire knife dancing, a traditional
dance that includes the twirling of a flaming knife
while performing impressive acrobatic stunts.
Anciently, the dance was performed by Samoan
warriors as a way to demonstrate strength and battle
prowess.
Festivities

Teuila Festival
Teuila Festival is a celebration of all things in Samoa. The festival is named
after the national flower, known as the red ginger, which blooms in abundance
at this time of year and is used as decorations for the event. Great range of
dance competitions, from elegant shows to siva afi (fire knife dancing). There
are also demonstrations of traditional Samoan arts and crafts, tattooing and lots
and lots of food.
