Note
It is required that the outdoor optical fibers shall drop down vertically at least 200 mm
long when it is led out from the bottom of the A9631W S36 enclosure. The optical
fibers cannot be bent or be put under stress. Then, bind and fix the optical fibers onto
the pole or cable tray.
Bind the remained optical fiber into circles with radius ranging from 300 mm to 400
mm and then fasten the fiber to the pole with black cable ties, such as the coiling
plate on the BBU side.
Note
If only one optical fiber needs to be installed, you need to block the unused outlet
trough with a waterproof plug.
1 The device is installed in the position specified in the survey design Yes ( ) No ( )
diagram and in the protective range of 45° of the lightning rod. In
areas with high mountains or frequent thunderstorms (more than 180
thunderstorm days per year), the device is in the protective range of
30° of the lightning rod.
2 When the AAU is installed on a pole, the pole should be not equipped Yes ( ) No ( )
with a lightning rod. It is recommended that an independent lightning
rod be installed near the pole. If a lightning rod is installed on the
pole, it is recommended that the lightning rod be separately grounded
directly.
4 The pole for mounting the AAU must be secured and cannot be Yes ( ) No ( )
shaken. Its wind resistance should meet the requirements (wind force
12 or more, or the engineering design requirement).
5 The pole for mounting the AAU must be upright, with a tilt of less than Yes ( ) No ( )
±2°.
7 The device is not damaged or distorted, and does not have scratches Yes ( ) No ( )
or lacquer flaking off; otherwise, the surface should be repaired with the
lacquer of the same color.
8 The AAU is installed vertically, with the external cable interfaces facing Yes ( ) No ( )
downwards. There is an installation space not less than 30 cm below
the AAU.
10 The device is installed properly and fastened securely without shaking. Yes ( ) No ( )
11 All connectors and screws are secured tightly (in accordance with the Yes ( ) No ( )
required torque if there is any).
13 All screws are installed properly, with the insulating washers, flat Yes ( ) No ( )
washers, spring washers, and nuts installed in the correct sequence.
14 All unused interfaces of the AAU are protected with dust-proof Yes ( ) No ( )
protective caps, and waterproofed.
1 Power cables cannot be connected to each other, and no joints should Yes ( ) No ( )
exist in one single power cable.
2 The cables are clean, without any construction marks. The insulating Yes ( ) No ( )
layers of the protective tubes are in good condition.
3 Different types of cables are routed separately and straight in clear Yes ( ) No ( )
directions without crossing each other, and bound securely with a
proper tense. No cable is curved or slanted or hanging in the air.
4 Outdoor cables are routed along building surfaces and cable trays, or Yes ( ) No ( )
routed along and fixed to walls. No cable hangs in the air.
5 When cables are laid out on the cable tray in parallel, signal cables, Yes ( ) No ( )
DC power cables, AC power cables, and feeder cables should be
routed separately, keeping at least 10 cm away from each other.
6 Outdoor cables cannot be bound with or routed along the lightning Yes ( ) No ( )
protection zone. Outdoor cables should be routed below the lightning
protection zone and a spacing not less than 20 cm must be reserved
between the cables and the lightning protection zone.
7 If an outdoor cable (DC cable, AC cable, optical fiber, or feeder cable) Yes ( ) No ( )
is led into the equipment room from a position higher than the lower
edge of the feeder window, the cable must be specially bent for
waterproofing. The lowest point of the cable bend must be 10–15 cm
lower than the lower edge of the feeder window. If a cable is led from
a position lower than the lower edge of the feeder window, it is not
required to bend the cable for waterproofing.
8 When indoor cables are routed along a wall or under a floor, a cable Yes ( ) No ( )
trough should be installed.
9 The layout of cables must not affect the heat dissipation of BBUs or the Yes ( ) No ( )
chassis.
11 Surplus optical fiber should be wrapped around a spool near the AAU Yes ( ) No ( )
and fixed.
12 Optical cables routed outdoors are protected from sharp edges, and no Yes ( ) No ( )
heavy cables are placed on them.
1 Cables of the same type are bundled closely, with a tidy and straight Yes ( ) No ( )
appearance. Both the horizontal and vertical differences of the cables
are not greater than 5 mm.
2 If a bundle of cables are bent, cable ties must be used at both sides of Yes ( ) No ( )
the bend to bind the cables to prevent broken cores caused by strong
force at the bend.
3 Cable bends are identically even and smooth. The minimum bending Yes ( ) No ( )
radius requirements for different types of cables are as follows:
1. Minimum radius of an outdoor optical fiber ≥ 20 times that of the
diameter of an outdoor optical cable.
2. Bending radius of a power cable or PE cable ≥ 5 times that of the
cable diameter.
4 The same bundle of cables uses the same type of cable ties. It is Yes ( ) No ( )
recommended that cable ties be not used in series. A maximum of two
cable ties can be used in series.
5 All cables are bundled and routed tidily, with an even interval between Yes ( ) No ( )
cable ties. The cable ties on a bundle of cables routed in the same
direction must face the same direction. When a cable is bound on a
horizontal indoor cable tray, the maximum spacing between cable ties
does not exceed twice that of the rail spacing of the cable tray. When
a cable is bound on a vertical indoor cable tray, the cable should be
bound on each rail. When a power cable is routed indoors vertically
and there is no cable tray, the spacing between cable ties should range
from 10 cm to 20 cm. Cable ties are distributed evenly.
6 Outdoor cables routed along a cable ladder must be bound with Yes ( ) No ( )
cable ties or fixed securely. If the cables are routed horizontally, the
7 After cables are bundled, the surplus cable part must be cut off. For Yes ( ) No ( )
indoor cables, the surplus cable part must be cut off without leaving
any sharp edge. For outdoor cables, the surplus cable part must be cut
off with a 3 mm length of cables left. Black cable ties and white cable
ties cannot be used simultaneously in binding the same cables. White
cable ties are used for binding indoor cables while black cable ties are
used for binding outdoor cables.
8 Optical fibers and cables routed outdoors cannot be bound with too Yes ( ) No ( )
much force; otherwise, the cables may be bound too tightly. Too
much pressure may cause the cables to become distorted and the
transmission performance may degrade, see Figure6-2.
Grounding Requirements
3 For an outdoor AAU , a PE cable with a diameter of not less than 16 Yes ( ) No ( )
2
mm should be used and connected to the tower, the lightning strips
on the roof, or the cable tray nearby. The cabling distance should not
exceed 1.5 m and the grounding points must be reliably overlapped.
5 For all grounding kits installed outdoors, the angle between the ground Yes ( ) No ( )
and the main feeder cannot be upward (or obliquely upward). For the
6 When the AAU is installed on the top of a building, the device is Yes ( ) No ( )
grounded on the lightning protection zone at a point over 5 m away
from the downlead of the lightning rod. When the AAU is installed on
the tower, the device grounding point on the tower must be over 1.5 m
away from the welding pint of the lightning rod.
Waterproof Requirements
Steps
1. Close the air circuit breaker between the power supply device and the cable
distribution box or lightning protection box of the A9631W S36.
2. Check whether the A9631W S36 is powered on in accordance with the state of the
indicators.
Note
For more information about the indicators, refer to Indicators in the A9631W S36 5G
Active Antenna Unit Hardware Description.
Context
Grounding kits need to be installed for power cables. A power cable must be grounded
near the feeder window in the equipment room by connecting to the outdoor grounding
busbar through a grounding kit. For the installation positions of grounding kits, refer to
Table9-1.
Power If the grounding busbar near the feeder window is indoor, the power cable is grounded by
cable connecting to the grounding busbar after entering the feeder window.
If the grounding busbar near the feeder window is outdoor, the power cable is grounded
by connecting to the outdoor grounding busbar after entering the feeder window.
Note
If a grounding kit is used, the angle between the grounding cable and the power cable
cannot face upwards, or the angle between them cannot be smaller than 15 degrees.
If a grounding kit away from the feeder window is used, the grounding cable should be
routed towards the feeder window along the downward direction of the power cable.
Steps
1. Determine the position where the grounding kit is to be installed. Cut off the cable
sheath in accordance with the size of the grounding kit, see Figure9-2.
2. Push the grounding kit into the cable groove, see Figure9-3.
4. Connect the other end of the grounding cable to the grounding busbar, see
Figure9-5.
Figure9-5 Connecting the Other End of the Grounding Kit to the Grounding Busbar
5. Waterproof the cable connection points with one layer of insulating tape, three layers
of waterproof tape, and three layers of anti-ultraviolet tape. For details, refer to 9.2.2
Waterproofing Requirements of a Grounding Kit.
Steps
1. Clean the feeder connector, and ensure that no dirt or oil stain exists on the
connector.
2. Wrap the connector with two layers of ultraviolet-resistant tape.
Wrap two layers of ultraviolet-resistant tape in the direction that the connector is
tightened.
Wrap downwards for the first layer, and upwards for the second layer, see Figure9-6.
The following precautions must be observed when you wrap a connector:
While wrapping ultraviolet-resistant tape, stretch it naturally.
Each layer should cover a half of the previous one.
Ensure that the length wrapped by the ultraviolet-resistant tape is more than 10
mm lower than the length wrapped by the anti-ultraviolet tape.
After the connector is wrapped properly, grip the connector with force to make the
tape stick firmly to the cable and connector.
Note
Use diagonal piers to cut off the unwanted part of the tie. Reserve a length of 3 mm
in case the tape swells in hot weather.
Grounding kit of the Wrapping with one layer of insulating tape, three layers of waterproof tape,
power cable and three layers of anti-ultraviolet tape
Steps
2. Wrap three layers of waterproof tape from the bottom up, from the top down, and
then from the bottom up again, see Figure9-9.
3. Wrap three layers of anti-ultraviolet tape from the bottom up, from the top down, and
then from the bottom up again, see Figure9-9.
4. Use black anti-ultraviolet cable ties to bind the two ends of the tape tightly, see
Figure9-10. Use a pair of diagonal piers to cut off the excess length of the tape. Keep
3 mm left to prevent the tape from swelling in hot weather.
1. Cable ties
Labels or hangtags must be pasted on both ends of all cables, including the power
cables, PE cables, transmission cables, and feeders.
Paper labels should be pasted at both ends of the optical fibers, Ethernet cables, and
