Clearing the
SCRATCH PAD
•The FMS SCRATCH PAD is the
primary source for data entry into
the FMS system.
•Along with the FMS message
display window it is also an area
where system messages are
displayed.
•In order to enter data into the
SCRATCH PAD any existing
messages must first be cleared.
•Whenever a new message
appears, it is a good practice to
note the message and then clear
it.
•Messages in the SCRATCH
PAD and FMS message display
window may be cleared via the
MFD NAV page or from the
UFCP.
•On the NAV page MSG CLR
will appear at LSK R1 if there is
an active message. Pressing
LSK R1 will clear the message
from the MFD message window
and the SCRATCH PAD. 4

•Un-cleared messages will be
shown in their abbreviated
form on the UFCP. The full
message can be seen in the
FMS message window on the
MFD NAV page.
•Use the CLR button to
remove the message
•The CLR function will remove
one message each time it is
pressed.
•If additional messages exist
they may be removed by
repeating the CLR function

active XPNDR that is
between 2700 feet above
and 8700 feet below the
aircraft is displayed.
NOTE
TCAS is only an aid to detecting
other aircraft as a means to visually
acquire (see and avoid) aircraft that
may pose a collision threat.
Pilots must still visually scan the
surrounding airspace.
DO NOT USE TCAS AS THE
PRIMARY MEANS OF AVOIDING
TRAFFIC CONFLICTS.
