Functions of vitamin C in our body
 Growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body
- Form an important protein called collagen, used to make skin, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels
- Heal wounds and form scar tissue
- Repair and maintain cartilage, bones, and teeth

 Aid in the absorption of iron

 Acts as Antioxidant : block some of the damage to the cells and DNA caused by free radicals which are responsible for aging
process, cancer, heart disease conditions like arthritis etc.
 Required for the functioning of immune system : Vitamin C stimulates neutrophil migration to the site of infection, enhances
phagocytosis and oxidant generation, and microbial killing.
 Required for leucocytes functions : Anti-inflammatory
 Regulates gene expression through de-methylation
 Helps in synthesis epinephrine as well as nor-epinephrine
 Necessary for producing energy from fat
 Helps in metabolism folic acid and tyrosine and tryptophan
