DROPPED OBJECTS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Dropped Objects Prevention in construction is a vital safety effort to
prevent objects from falling on construction sites. It includes safety
measures, risk assessments, and specialized tools to protect workers,
prevent accidents, and maintain a secure work environment for
successful projects.

DO’S
• Housekeeping: Maintain good housekeeping on elevated platforms at all time.
• Secure Tools and Equipment: Always use reliable methods, such as safety nets,
tethers, lanyards, or tool bags, to secure tools, equipment, and materials to
prevent from falling.
• Regular Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of elevated areas, tools,
equipment, and work areas to identify potential hazards.
• SHES Training: Ensure all workers are trained in dropped objects prevention and
understand the importance of securing tools and materials at heights.
• Signages and Barricades: Clearly mark areas with a risk of falling objects and
provide barricades and warning signs to alert workers and visitors.
• Communication: Maintain clear communication among teams to coordinate
activities involving overhead work and the handling of tools and equipment.

DON’TS
• No Unsecured tools: Never leave tools, equipment’s or materials unsecured
or unattended at heights. It will increase the risk of falling objects
• No Shortcuts: Avoid taking shortcuts in safety procedures. Cutting corners
can lead to hazardous situations and increased likelihood of falling objects.
• No rushing: Do not rush tasks that involve lifting or working at heights.
Taking the time to secure objects properly is essential for safety.
• No Neglecting maintenance: Regularly maintain and inspect tools, lifting
equipment and PPE to ensure their reliability
• No Unauthorized Access: Restrict access to areas where overhead work is
ongoing and ensure only authorized personnel are allowed in these areas.
