Demo Lesson Plan in Mathematics I
Demo Lesson Plan in Mathematics I
Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates an understanding of the non-standard units for the measurement of
length.
Performance Standard:
The learner is able to estimate and measure an object's length by laying multiple copies of a shorter
object end to end.
Learning Competencies:
The learner identifies, estimates, and measures length using non-standard units of linear measures.

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson 75% of the students will be able to:
a. Students will be able to estimate and measure the length of an object using non-standard
units of measurement.
b. Can do the following activities such as using their body parts and other things to measure
another object.
c. Show appreciation and the importance of being able to estimate and measure the objects
around them using non-standard measurements.

B. Lesson Proper
Activity 1 “Determine the Length (Long or Short)”
• The teacher presents pictures of the object and the student will describe whether the
length is Long or Short. Each number has two pictures of different sizes, Underline the
Longest object and Encircle the shortest object.

Analysis
a. What do you observe in the activity?
b. Did you use measuring equipment on answering the activity?
c. How did you determine which picture is the longest? How about the shortest?
d. Do you often encounter measuring the length of an object without the use of measuring
equipment? Share your experience with the class.
Abstract
From the answers given by the students in the activity, the teacher defines estimating
and measuring length using non-standard units of linear measures.
The linear measurement is the distance between the two given points or objects.
Length is the term used for identifying the size of an object or distance from one point to
the other.
Estimating the Length without the use of Measuring Tools.
Example:
The child’s hair is long The Giraffe is tall and the Monkey is short
The non-standard units of measurement do not have any fixed measurement in numbers.
The measurements vary from person to person and object to object.
Example 1: Measuring using Non-Standard Unit.
Question:
1. What do you observe in the activity?
