Global exports record strong growth offsetting the impact of the pandemic

recorded outstanding gains in 2021. This is
largely attributed to the depreciation of the
Brazilian real against the US dollar, leading
Brazil, the second largest exporter of
agricultural products, to strong inflation.
Similar issues were recorded in Argentina
with the peso collapsing against US dollar as
the country is challenged by further monetary
crisis. On the other hand, the devaluation of
their local currencies has enabled both
countries to be more competitive in terms of
foreign trade and register robust growth in
export value sales.
The US remained the largest exporter of
agricultural products in 2021. With more than
28% of its exports destined to China and the
trade war between the two countries ongoing
even after the US election, the US is focusing
on expanding its trade agreements with other
countries, including the EU.
