Answer: 3 x 5 = 15
There are 5 groups. Each group has 3 oranges. How many orange altogether?
Answer : 5 x 3 = 15
(So, 3x5 = 5x3)
 Count by 6s : 6,12,18,24,30,36,42,48,54,60

There 27 slices of bread altogether
 Count by 9s: 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72,81,90
 Multiplying Numbers
 Multiply 6 by 5 => 6 x 5 =30
 Division using multiplication fact
 Arrange 48 chairs equally into 8 rows. There are 6 (48:8) chairs in each row.
Fact : 48 : 8 = 6
6 x 8 = 48
 Divided 45 rambutans equally into 9 groups. There are 5 (45:9) rambutans in each
group
Fact : 45 : 9 = 5
5 x 9 = 45

 9 x 6 = 54
54 : 6 = 9

How many paintings did Huili sell?
Answer: 7x5 = 35
 A box of chocolates cost $28. It cost 4 times as much as a box of butter cookies.
How much did the box of butter cookies cost?
Answer: $28 : 4 = $7 the cost a box of butter cookies

CHAPTER 6 “MULTIPLICATION”

 What is 3x2 ?
3 x 2 = 3 ones x 2
= 6 ones
=6
 What is 30 x 2?
30 x 2 = 3 tens x 2
= 6 tens
= 60
 What is 300 x 2?
300 x 2 = 3 hundreds x 2
= 6 hundreds
= 600

4 x 20 = 80
9 x 100 = 900
20 x 10 = 200

CHAPTER 7 “DIVISION”

 QUOTIENT AND REMAINDER

Quotient (Q) = Hasil
Remainder (R) = Sisa

EXAMPLE:
1. Farah has 11 pencils. She places the pencils equally into 5 pencil holders.
a. How many pencils does each pencil holder contain?
b. How many pencils are left (yg tersisa)?
a. 11 : 5 = 2 R 1

2 Quotient

5 11

10 -

1 Remainder

b. There is 1 pencil left

2. Find the quotient and the remainder 25 : 4!

4 25

24 -

25 : 4 = 6 R 1

Note: Quotient =6
Remainder = 1
 DIVISION WITHOUT REGROUPING AND REMAINDER

Ones = satuan
Tens = puluhan (..0)
Hundreds = ratusan (..00)
4 : 2 = 4 ones : 2 40 : 2 = 4 tens : 2 400 : 2 = 4 hundreds : 2
= 2 ones = 2 tens = 2 hundreds
=2 = 20 = 200

 DIVISION WITH REGROUPING IN HUNDREDS, TENS AND ONES

26
STEP 1. Angka 5 (puluhan) dibagi 2 menghasilkan 2
2 52 dengan sisa 1
4 -
STEP 2. Gabungkan (regroup) sisa angka 1 dengan 2
12 (satuan) yang menjadikan 12
12 -
STEP 3. Angka 12 dibagi 2 menghasilkan 6
0
Jadi, 52 : 2 = 26
104
STEP 1. Angka 3 (ratusan) dibagi 3 menghasilkan 1
3 313
3 - STEP 2. Angka 1 (puluhan) dibagi 3 menghasilkan 0
dengan sisa 1 puluhan
13
12 - STEP 3. Angka 1 puluhan digabungkan (regroup)
dengan 3 (satuan) yang menjadikan 13
1
STEP 4. Angka 13 dibagi 3 menghasilkan 4 dengan
sisa (remainder) 1

Jadi, 313 : 3 = 104 R 1

134 STEP 1. Divide 4 by 3. 4 hundreds : 3 = 1 hundreds

Angka 4 (ratusan) dibagi 3 menghasilkan 1
3 404
101 Regroup 1 hundred
STEP 1. Divide 3 by and 0 ten = 10: tens
3. 3 hundreds 3 = 1 hundreds
3 - Angka 3 (ratusan) dibagi 3 menghasilkan 1
3 303 STEP 2. Divide the tens by 3. 10 tens : 3= 3 tens
310 - remainder 1
STEP 2. Divide 0 tens by 3. 0 tens : 3= 0 tens
9 - Angka 10 (puluhan)dibagi
Angka 0 (puluhan) dibagi33menghasilkan
menghasilkan03 sisa 1
3 Regroup remainder 1 ten and 4 ones = 14 ones
14
3 - STEP 3. Divide the 3 ones by 3.
12 - STEP
Angka3.3 Divide thedibagi
(satuan) ones by 3.
3 menghasilkan 1
0 Angka 14 (satuan) dibagi 3 menghasilkan 4 sisa 2
2 Jadi, 303 : 3 = 101
Jadi, 404 : 3 = 134 R 2

CHAPTER 8 “WORLD PROBLEMS INVOLVING THE FOUR OPERATION”

(Menyelesaikan masalah dengan 4 operasi/ +, - , : , x )
1. Huiting had $435. Ian gave her $326 more.
a. How much did Huiting have altogether?
Answer: $435 + $326 = $761. Huiting had $761 altogether

b. Huiting spent $546 on an oven. How much did she have left?
Answer: $761 - $546 = $215. Huiting had $215 left

2. Najib sold 273 tarts. Selina sold twice as many tarts as Najib.
a. How many tarts did Selina sell?
Answer: 273 X 2 = 546. So, Selina sold 546 tarts

b. How many tarts did they sell altogether?

Answer: 273 + 546 = 819. So, Najib and Selina sold 819 tarts altogether

3. Dewi had (mempunyai) 795 beads. She used (menggunakan) 148 beads to make
bracelets. She packed the remaining (mengemas sisanya) beads equally into 5
packets. How many beads were left unpacked (sisa yg tidak dikemas)?
- 795 – 148 = 647
After Dewi made the bracelets, there were 647 beads left.
