Final Reflection Essay
What I have learned from the academic research in this course is how to properly find a
right article with peer review. I’ve learned that peer review journals are more credible than just
the average journal so for now on in all my other classes that I have to research in I will make
sure it is a peer review journal. What helped me learn about academic research would have to be
at the beginning of the class when the professor was explaining how to research the right way
and she gave us time to research on our own to find a good credible source. Then we also had a
brainstorm topic with our classmates that helped me see what other people are thinking about
and gave me ideas. Recently I had to find an article for my final bio lab project and this
Knowledge that I had obtained by taking this course helped me find an article with no problem.
while making sure it is a credible peer reviewed source, I was also more familiar on how to
obtain the important information from the article after doing it for my English class.
From the writing process of this class I have learned many things one being how to
properly add page numbers and how to add authors names. The other being slow down the
professor tells me I should watch how I write because I get carried away and create run on
sentences. The feedback from the professor helps me understand what mistakes I should fix one
being the page number and authors names I had them all wrong and got feedback on how to fix
the problems. Then when the professor told me I should slow down I took that into consideration
and learned to just write what I think at the moment to get my idea out then go back and correct

the sentence. This has helped me a lot as now I get my full idea out without losing my train of
thought I used this technique in my biology lab reports and other classes now.
What I learned from the revising process was some simple mistakes like the page's
numbers on an article and how to put insert them into my paper and rules they have. I also
learned little mistakes I would make like commas and periods I would forget to place them and
create a big mistake from a little problem on my paper. The way I fix these mistakes is to reread
my essay and have someone read it too because sometimes when I read it I just kinda skim
through it as I think it is good after I just wrote it but sometimes that is not the case as I forget
some small mistakes which I learned how to prevent them.
The most challenging part of revising would have to be the article numbers I had to ask
my fellow peer and they helped me understand where to put the page number and rules about
placing them. It was still a little complicated for me to understand but I eventually got the hang
of it I still might make some mistakes but at least I know more than before.
The least challenging part was fixing the mistakes as after I learned about my mistake it
was easy for me to understand and fix the problem after It was brought to my attention. The peer
review and feedback from the professor helped me fix my mistakes with no problems as I
understood after they explained it and asking questions.
To communicate course concepts on my website I will add my annotated biography and
literature review with definitions and try to make my website easy to access as if it were
someone new all the time.
The most challenging part for me would have to be once again the page number and how to put
the authors names as it just looks like I do it right, but then I find out after I get my feedback that

I had put them wrong. It took a while for me to understand I think I barley understood it on the
last essay which I should’ve asked questions and got help from the professor. When researching
the most challenging part would have to be picking the right article for myself as there are many
articles, I don’t have time to read all of them, so I picked out the ones that I had time to read and
that were good for my research.
The least challenging part once again would have to be the researching as at first it felt
intimidating but after researching the topic I liked it was more interesting than intimidating. It
hooked me in, and I was excited to research more about physical activities and add more into my
essay. I found that my strength can be finding good credible articles as before I didn’t think I
could but now I do it all the time and not just for English class but for many other classes. I don’t
just look and pick one I make sure it is credible and I read it to make sure it is the right source I
need.
I do feel like this class has prepared me to be part of the academic research community as I have
two classes where I can do biology research to get extra credit and I had never been thought how
to write or find credible source. After this class I have been able to do my extra credit way more
effectively.
