Sealant Features & Capabilities
SEALANT FEATURES CAPABILITIES AND LIMITATIONS
FIELD-SAVER ▪ The sealants consists of a compound and activator ▪ Short or Long Term isolations, depending
on operational requirements
▪ Wide temperatures range
▪ Operational Temperature : -50°C ÷ +250°C
▪ Deployed as a fluid and converts to a solid (once cured)
▪ Inert to UV, H2S/sour gas, most solvents & Acids ▪ Deployment ambient Temperature: -20°C ÷
+60°C
▪ Sink and cure under Water, Brine, Mineral Oil and Oil
Based Mud. ▪ Maximum pressure rating depends on the
application and sealing geometry: the
▪ When Cured: Typical shore Hardness : 50-55 Shore A , bigger the leak rate, the lower the pressure
Tensile Strenght 2-2.6 Mpa , Color White capacity is.
▪ Structure: Flexible solid texture
Compound & Activator ▪ Excellent bonding properties
▪ It flows thru leak paths and restores the sealing
integrity. Like every elastomeric seals, it has to be
supported by the defined geometry.
▪ Can be sheared for removal

Typical Applications
We can provide environmental emergency isolations on a variety of surface applications, here some typical applications
Leaking LDS Packing Leaking WH Seals Damaged Ring Joint Grooves
▪ Injected against pressure ▪ Self-energizing & Non self-energizing seals ▪ Applied with spatula before flange make up.
▪ Any type of LDS packing ▪ Primary and Secondary packings
▪ TBG HGR and CSG HGR Packoff’s

Typical Applications
We can provide environmental emergency isolations on a variety of surface applications, here some typical applications
Downhole line Isolation VR plug preparation
▪ Damaged downhole line isolation ▪ VR plug preparation damage
▪ Isolate a leaking control/injection line without ▪ It works with either Sharp Vee thread or
removing Xmas tree HPVR prep.
▪ Extremely important for gas lift wells where
gas is injected thru A-annulus side outlets.

How it works
▪ TechnipFMC ‘Field-Saver’ restores a static seal onto damaged sealing
surfaces.
▪ It is mixed on site and pumped while still in fluid condition under pressure
in the damaged sealing area. Maximum pumping pressure is 10000 psi,
(690 bar)
▪ Depending on the application, it can be pumped to partially or completely
fill the cavity. The sealant flow into the leakage paths and seal them off.
To ensure a proper sealing capability it is important to maintain a
pumping pressure.
▪ The viscosity is an important parameter of the compound and it is
adjusted based on the planned application and on the measured leakage
rate.

Assessment
▪ After the initial feedback obtained from the
customer by mean of the QUESTIONNAIRE, a
field survey shall be performed to validate and
implement the information.
▪ The main data needed to define the right mix of
compound are:
a) Pressure
b) Leak rate
c) Ambient temperature
d) Equipment or flowing temperature
▪ Volume is driven by the cavity to be filled, so a
layout showing the internals is extremely
important for the evaluation.
▪ Deployment procedures are mainly dictated by:
a) Wellhead / Equipment architecture
b) Availability of injection, monitor and bleed
ports
c) Possibility to safely bleed off the
overpressure

How it is deployed
Sealant Deployment Tool Set is designed for 10K psi (690 bar)
▪ Field-Saver sealant and the
deployment procedure are
engineered based on the information
received from the Customer thru the
specific Questionnaire and the Field
survey ad Assessment.
▪ From the collected information and
the engineering analysis, TFMC
Arnhem prepares the base
compound and activator in the
correct quantity to be used.
▪ The two components are mixed on
the field and deployed immediately
after with the dedicated tooling set.
▪ Once cured, the sealant can be
inflow tested.
