There are some areas in foundry.
pattern shop
Core shop
Moulding area
Pouring area
Knock off area
Factling area
Pattern shop :
3 types of pattern
1. Wood
2. Aluminium,
3. Thermocoal
Wood & Al pattern is reuse but
Thermocoal pattern is one time use.
Allowance :
1.Machining
2. Draft
3. Shrinkage
Core Shop :
Make mixture of 2 sand + resin and
catalyst Filled core
After dust collect from dust collector
There are five steps in this process :
 Place a pattern in sand to create a mold.
 Incorporate the pattern and sand in a gating system. Remove the pattern.
 Incorporate the pattern and sand in a gating system. Remove the pattern.
 Allow the metal to cool.
 Break away the sand mold and remove the casting.

knockout in foundry :
In investment casting, the term knockout refers to the process of removing
the ceramic mold from the casting. After the poured castings have cooled to
an acceptable temperature, they are transferred to the knockout area.

Furnace :
3 ton capacity type
10 ton capacity type
PAINT SHOP :
The plant can be divided in two parts.
 Pretreatment
 Powder coating

Welding :
GMAW : ( Gas Metal Arc Welding )
Gas metal arc welding is generally used due to the high efficiency of filler metal that can
be deposited per hour. GMAW is approximately 92% - 98%efficient. GMAW requires a
shielding gas. The GMAW process is performed using DCEP ( Direct Current Electrode
Positive). Alternating current is never used for GMAW.

Advantages of GMAW :
High operating factor
• Easy to learn
• Limited cleanup
• Use on many different metals: stainless steel, mild (carbon) steel, aluminium and more.

MIG Welding :
MIG welding is an arc welding process in which a continuous solid wire electrode is
Fed through a welding gun and into the weld pool, joining the two base materials
together. A shielding gas is also sent through the welding gun and protects the weld pool
From contamination. In fact, MIG stands for metal inert gas.
STORE:
Store is divided into 7 zone.

Table 1 : Zone wise store area

OVERVIEW OF STORE :
 Component's in store
Mounting ring l & inner, Bearings, Bracket bottom, Connector, Bed etc... 1 lakh
components present in store.
There are 3 main teams in store.
 Inward team
 issue team,
 QC team

Inward area :
Unloading & visually check products.
Unloading items using manually, crank, forklift or stacker.

Material verify :
Visually check, Check quentity, Inward checking –OK
Don’t ok then send to mail and check again
PO – Production order SO – Selling order
ASSEMBLY :
 In assembly many machines
assemble and manufacture.
 There are many types of machines
CNC Turing, Milling, VMC, HMC,
Universal axis etc…
 There are many types of series in
assembly like DX, ATM, AX, VTL,
