▪Aloe contains two classes of aloins: 1 nataloins 2 barbaloins
▪Barbaloins may be divided into a-barbaloins (barbados aloes) and
b-barbaloins (Socotrine and Zangiber aloes)
▪ It also contains amino acids like leucine, isoleucine, saponin
glycosides that provide cleansing action
▪ Vitamin A,C,E,B, choline , B12 and folic acid offers antioxidant
activity
▪ Antiseptic property is due to presence of six antiseptic agents
namely lupeol, salicylic acid, urea nitrogen, cinnamonic acid,
phenols and sulphur. These have inhibitory action on bacteria,
fungi and viruses

▪ Turmeric contains a wide range of phytochemicals including
demethoxycurcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin, zingiberene,
curcumol, curcumenol, eugenol, tetrahydrocurcumin,
triethylcurcumin, curcumin, turmerin, turmerones, and
turmeronols
▪ Curcumin is the phytochemical that gives a yellow colour to
turmeric and is responsible for most of the effects
▪ Uses of turmeric include antiseptic, analgesic, anti-

▪ Henna comes from the plant Lawsonia inermis, family
Lythraceae
▪ It contains a dye molecule called lawsone which shows
significant antifungal and antibiotic effect.
▪ Other constituents present are gallic acid, glucose, mannitol,
fats, resin (2%), mucilage and traces of alkaloid
▪ Numerous beneficial effects of henna are:
o Making hair stronger and increase in hair volume
o Resistance to hair break and reduction in split-ends
o Used as regular dye
o Reduces inflammation and shows astringent property
o Shows anti-dandruff, anti-fungal and antibiotic effect 27
