REVIEW

VIRGIN'S WRATH is an intriguing and suspense filled book, packed with so

many lessons. It talks about people in ministry and the kind of skeletons
some have in their closest, not leaving out the series of characters we meet
when we go to church. A church according to Pastor Mildred Okonkwo is a
hospital where different people come to get treatment and not everyone in
there is actually responding to treatment. And a church where the pastor is
living in perpetual sin, nothing really good can be said much about the
congregant and the atmosphere in it. We are able to see that not all that
glitter is gold and not all who go to church are actually living the Christian
lifestyle.

From the Reverend to Mrs. Lucas, Tonia, Peter and Mary, we can see the
different emotions and trauma they had to go through and the writer pretty
well explored it and gave them personalities that made it so unpredictable
and kept the suspense alive.

The lessons in this story could be traced to Pastors and how they handle
family and church issues. Reverend Lucas allowed greed and love for
money to cloud his judgement and his daughter became the scapegoat of
his sinful lifestyle.

The story kept me at the edge of my seat and in suspense till the last
chapter, brilliantly written.

CHAPTER 1

COURTROOM

“Having been convicted of the murder of Reverend. Lucas who happens to

be your father. You are hereby sentenced to death by hanging.” The judge
said.

“All Arise!!” the court clerk ordered.

The judge leaves the court as policemen dragged Tonia out of the court into
a waiting van that will convey her to the prison pending the time the state
governor will sign her death papers. There was pandemonium all over as
people scramble to get a glimpse of the babyface assassin.

MR. JOHNSON OFFICE

Mr. Johnson was discussing with Mr. Fidelis.

“Mr. Fidelis, I have told you there is nothing I can do about your case.” Mr.
Johnson said.

“Sir, you need to help me. I know my wife; she will deal with me
mercilessly.” Mr. Fidelis replied.

“You are fully aware your wife is a military woman yet you went ahead to
impregnate a lady on your street. “Mr. Johnson replied.

“it’s the devil’s work sir...” He replied.

“I see… the first time she caught you cheating, I pleaded on your behalf.
The second time she caught you, I heard she dealt with your church
members that went to beg on your behalf and you expect me to go with you
so I can be used as a scapegoat. This will serve as a big lesson to you and
other married men out there that adultery is a sin and has a deadly end.”
Mr. Johnson said.

Mr. Fidelis was about to reply to him, just then a call came in. Mr. Johnson
politely asked Mr. Fidelis to hold on.

“Hello, Mr. Johnson. God bless you” Bishop Francis said over the phone

“Amen, sir! I’m so glad to hear from you sir. I trust you are faring well, sir?”
Mr. Johnson said excitedly

“Yes, I am. Thank you for asking. I need a big favor from you please”
Bishop Francis continued

“Oh! I will be glad to do anything sir in as much God is permitting me to”

Mr. Johnson replied

“My team and I went for our monthly prison outreach. Fortunately for us,
we met a young lady called Tonia Lucas “Bishop Francis explained

“Lucas?... That surname sounds familiar. Could she be the daughter of the
renowned Reverend Lucas that was murdered?” Mr. Johnson asked curiously

“Exactly! You are so on point.” Bishop Francis replied

“I heard she was sentenced to death by hanging. It’s so sad seeing a young
and vibrant lady end her life this way. How can I be of help sir?”

“She re-dedicated her life to Christ and pleaded with me to get her a
counselor who happens to be a writer. she has a story to tell and you were
the first person that crossed my mind. Can you help out please?” Bishop
Francis asked

“Definitely sir! I will be glad to help and I am thankful for the opportunity. I
will pay you a visit this evening so we can finalize our discussion sir.” Mr.
Johnson said.

“Alright! God bless you. Thank you so much. Good day!” Bishop Francis said
as he ends the call.

Mr. Johnson beckons on his secretary to fix it in his schedule. Mr. Fidelis
gazed at her lustfully as she walks out of the office.

“Sir, this your secretary is very sexy, she drips glory and carries grace. I
could see the grace of God all over her waist sir. Chai! God dey create oo!!”
Mr. Fidelis said joyfully

“I can see your case is a deliverance case, do you know I can arrest you for
what you just did? That’s sexual harassment, please take your leave before
I call your wife myself to inform her that you have impregnated another
lady” Mr. Johnson warned as Mr. Fidelis gets up and runs out of his office.

CHAPTER 2

STATE’S MAXIMUM PRISON

Mr. Johnson and his personal assistant patiently sit in the visitor’s room.
Minutes later, one of the prison wardens brings In Tonia.

“Bishop Francis is a good man and one of our fathers, we will be giving you
thirty minutes. Just a piece of advice, don’t lose guard, I will be right at the
door” The prison warden said.

“I appreciate your kindness, Sir… I won’t take it for granted” Mr. Johnson
replied.

The warden cuffs her hands to the table and excuses them.

“Who is this?” Tonia asks unpleasantly.

“Oh! Cynthia; she is my personal assistant” Mr. Johnson replied.

“If you want me to talk, she needs to excuse us, or else I will ask the
warden to take me back” she threatened.

“No! I can’t leave you, sir… she looks dangerous!” Cynthia insists as Tonia
laughs out loud.

“You actually think you can handle me or defend your boss if I attack you
both, come off it, babe! The fact that I’m being tagged a babyface assassin
and condemned to death doesn’t make me a brutal person. Circumstances
led me here. So, stop this silly joke of yours and get out. I can’t hurt your
boss.” Tonia said unapologetically

“It’s fine Cynthia!.. kindly wait for me outside. God is in charge..” Mr.
Johnson whispers. Cynthia reluctantly exits the visitor's room.

“Well, we are alone now. Can we begin our discussion? We have very
limited time.”

“Can I trust you!... how am I sure you are not one of those bastards!” Tonia
fires at him.

“You can trust me! Bishop Francis is a man of integrity and a renowned man
of God. He really cares about you. He won’t send anyone or do anything
that will tarnish his image. I also have my name to protect” Mr. Johnson
reassured.

“Hmmm. Renowned man of God!. hahahahaha…Wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Reverend. Lucas was also a renowned man of God… that bastard!.
I want the world to hear my story… Let’s begin!”

“Let us pray” Mr. Johnson held her hands as they both prayed.

“You can go ahead miss Tonia”

“Hmmm. I am Tonia Lucas, the only child of the renowned Reverend and
Mrs. Lucas. They had me after expecting the fruit of the womb for fifteen
years. I was treated like a queen but my dad was overprotective. I felt
things would get better when I gain admission into the higher institution. It
became worse and I was in my third year when the whole narrative took a
different twist” Tonia explained

“This is my story…” She begins.

A FEW MONTHS EARLIER

REVEREND LUCAS APARTMENT

Reverend Lucas, his wife and deacon Timothy are sited while Linda who
happens to be Deacon Timothy’s daughter kneels at the center of the living
room.

“Can’t you talk!!” Deacon Timothy barks at her.

“I said he is a new member and he doesn’t come to our church

anymore…he attended just twice..” Linda replied.

“Amazing! Linda! You mean you were foolish enough to open your legs for a
stranger?” Mrs. Lucas queried.

“He isn’t a stranger… he’s our member!” she replies quietly.

REVEREND LUCAS LIVING ROOM

“Will you keep your mouth shut!.. you still have guts to argue” Reverend
Lucas said angrily.

“I am not arguing sir... I am only trying to explain myself better..” Linda

replied.

“Oh! Now I see, it’s very obvious you are not well trained. Deacon Timothy,
can you see how rude your daughter is? I blame you seriously, you have
failed as a father” Reverend Lucas said unapologetically.

“Sir! God knows we trained her well. She isn’t the promiscuous type. I
seriously don’t understand what came over her. Linda, can you see how you
have brought shame upon our family?” Deacon Timothy said sadly.

Reverend Lucas's phone rings, the caller I.D displays an unknown number.
He excuses himself and rushes outside to pick the call.

“Your share of the deal has been sent to your private bank account,” the
caller said

“Oh! How much?” Reverend Lucas asked curiously

“50million naira!... Nice doing business with you!” The caller said and ends
the call.

Reverend Lucas returns to the living room.

“Welcome back dear, I hope all is well?” Mrs. Lucas asked

“All is well! Thanks”

Tonia returns from the clinic.

“Good day sir. Hello Dad…. Hi Mom… Linda! What’s wrong?” she asked
curiously

“Don’t mind your friend. She is pregnant!” Deacon Timothy replied.

“What! Linda! How come?. Dad, who is the guy responsible?”

“Don’t mind her. She doesn’t know the guy. Deacon Timothy, look at my
beautiful daughter, she is a virgin. In fact, she is just returning from the
clinic, whenever she is back from school, I make sure she visits our family
doctor for her virginity test. I take my daughter’s virginity status very
seriously!” Reverend Lucas boasted.

“Well, you and your daughter have been expelled from the church, you
know the church’s policy. Don’t worry, I will transfer the sum of five million
naira to you as compensation to your family” Reverend Lucas added

“Sir! Please kindly have mercy. You know my family and I have sacrificed a
lot to make this church a success.” Deacon Timothy pleaded.

“Point of correction, you didn’t!. God did… don’t forget I will be

compensating your family with the sum of five million naira. I think I have
tried my best! Please, you can take your leave. If I see your family in the
church. I will get you arrested” Reverend Lucas warned.

“Dad! Let’s go, please!” Linda said as she angrily gets up and walks out on
them. Deacon Timothy followed her reluctantly.

“Dad! You shouldn’t have done that! It’s unfair!. I also don’t like the way
you brag about my virginity. It’s meant to be a personal thing!. I hate it!”
Tonia said irritably

“You are just a child. So, I won’t blame you for speaking like one. Doctor
Mike called to inform me you are still intact. I am proud of you. I will
transfer two hundred thousand naira to you, that’s for keeping your
virginity.’

“I don’t want your money dad! I don’t understand why my virginity means
so much to you. Do you think it’s the money that’s making me abstain from
sex? NO!” Tonia said rudely and walks out on her parents.

“Dear, I feel it’s best if you respect your daughter’s decision. I understand
you are protecting her but if she doesn’t want her virginity status to be
made public. Please, respect her wish” Mrs. Lucas pleaded.

“In a nutshell, I lack common sense, right? Is it a crime for me to be proud

of my daughter and use her as an example to challenge others to maintain
sexual purity?” He asked

“That’s not what I meant dear. Okay, I am sorry. Dear, Can I ask you a
question?”

“Are you just asking me questions? You are great at it.... go ahead.” He
replied teasingly.

“I remembered when you showed me your account balance this morning,

you had just fifty thousand naira but all of a sudden you transferred five
million naira to Deacon Timothy and you also promised to transfer two
hundred thousand naira to our daughter. Even though you are yet to give
me anything, how come you suddenly have such amount in your account?”.
She asked curiously

“Women! You think too far. Well, one of my counselees got a contract worth
millions of naira. He paid His tithe.” He explained.

“Oh! Thank God. I actually noticed you receive such a huge amount
whenever our daughter carries out her virginity test or is it a coincidence?”
She asked

“I was expecting you to overstep your boundaries and you didn’t disappoint
me. Tomorrow is Sunday. I need to prepare my message and communicate
with God. Let me go pet my daughter first.” He gets up and leaves for
Tonia's room.

“Hmmm… Why do I feel there is more to this?” Mrs. Lucas muttered to

herself.

“Before we say our closing prayer. If you are a member of this church and
you are a virgin, please see the admin to put down your name. We have a
special package for you. We desire to see our ladies abstain from pre-
marital sex. We have decided to encourage you for choosing to live right.
“Reverend Lucas announced.

The service is brought to a close. Mark; a tall and handsome young man
who just gave his life to Christ months back approaches Tonia.

“Hi, Tonia, a blissful sunday to you”

“Hey Mark, same to you. I hope you were blessed by today’s preaching?”
she asked Mark.

“Oh definitely. We all know your dad is a very powerful preacher.”

“Thank you ooo… I hope you are not here to talk about the usual?” she
asked jokingly

“Of course, I am. Thank God your dad already asked all the virgins to
register. That will give you an assurance that I am not going to demand for
sex. I truly love you, Tonia.”

“Mark! You can be so stubborn. Okay, let’s do this. If you can approach my
dad and tell him you want his daughter and would love to marry his
daughter, then I can consider praying about you” she replied.

“Ha! You are directly sending me to face a firing squad... everyone knows
how over protective your father is.” He said looking somehow uncomfortable

“If you aren’t bold enough to face him, how then do you want to protect
me?” Tonia asked

“Hmmm… things we do for love. I will face the firing squad. If I die…I die!”
Mark affirmed

“Hahaha! Give them! General Mark! That’s the Spirit. Don’t worry, my dad
won’t deal with you. Just brace yourself for some hot questions. May the
Lord go with you” she teased.

Mark heads to Reverend Lucas’s office.

REVEREND LUCAS OFFICE

Mark enters Reverend Lucas's office. He greets him cautiously and takes his
seat.

“Did I ask you to sit?” Reverend Lucas queried

“Oh! I am very sorry sir.” Mark replied as he jumps to his feet.

“Why are you standing?” Reverend Lucas queried further.

“Sir. You just asked me to get up sir” Mark explained looking confused

“Young man, sit… I was just joking with you. “He replied with a smile

“Thank you, sir. “Mark replied and takes his seat.

“So, I hope you enjoyed today’s service, and were you blessed?” Reverend
Lucas asked.

“Definitely sir! It was a very powerful sermon, sir.” Mark replied

“Are you sure or you are only teasing me? Tell me one key thing you learnt
from the sermon?” Reverend Lucas asked

“I learnt that we shouldn’t sacrifice our glory on the altar of temporary

pleasure. I also discovered one of the sins God hates so much is the sin of
adultery and fornication” Mark explained.

“Great! I love this. We need more vibrant youth like you. Now, you are free
to speak. How can I help you?” Rev Lucas asked.

“Errrrm. Actually sir… I am here because of your daughter sir. I love her and
I…” Reverend Lucas cuts him short.

“Wait a minute.” Reverend Lucas called Tonia over the phone and requested
her presence in his office.

Tonia walks in and sits

“Welcome dear, this young man has something to say and I feel you are
involved. I sensed you should be here. So, young man please go ahead”
Reverend Lucas said

“Actually sir, I love your daughter and I will like to seek your permission”

“Tonia, has he approached you before now?” He asked

“Yes, Dad! I asked him to confide in you, since the church rules states the
General overseer must be fully involved in the process..” Tonia explained

“That’s good. Young man, what’s that your name again?” Reverend Lucas
asked.

“I am Mark sir.”

“I remember you so well. You gave your life to Christ a few months ago and
I remember you walked into this office for counseling and you confessed
your atrocities” Reverend Lucas said

“Yes sir... it’s all in the past now. I am now a new creation.” Mark replied.

“I never said you were an alien but I remembered you said you had sex with
nothing less than thirty ladies, you have made ten of them commit
abortions. You were once into cybercrime and you have a tattoo on your
chest..”

“Eerrrm sir.. they..” Mark began to feel uncomfortable and tries to stop him
from spilling his past.

“Let me finish young man!.. you once stole your dad’s briefcase filled with
naira notes. A criminal like you with a terrible past has the guts to think of
marrying my daughter who is holy and sacred. Your guts irritates me” He
fired at Mark angrily.

“Dad! He did no harm.. you shouldn’t have hurt him with his past. He is a
changed man. He can become a better man..” Tonia said with emotion

“Will you keep quiet! Listen, young man, the next time I see you near my
daughter. I will make sure I expel you from this church. Nonsense! … you
should be focusing more on your journey to redemption. You are after your
pastor’s daughter. Get out of my office!” Reverend Lucas barks at him.

REVEREND LUCAS OFFICE

Mark walks out of the office dejectedly.

“Young lady let this be the last time you will challenge me in the presence of
anyone. When will you understand that I am doing all this for you”
Reverend Lucas queried

“It is my life for crying out loud!. I know I am not getting married now but
you can’t keep frightening my potential suitors away. You just victimized
that young man!” Tonia fires back.

“So, you expect I, Reverend Lucas allow his only child to get married to a
young man who is destined for hell… over my dead body!” He asked

“I can’t believe you just said this, what are you preaching then if your
actions contradict what you preach.

Mark is a new creation; you are not God!..” Tonia said defiantly

“Enough! We won’t have this discussion again. Now get out of my office
before I lose my cool”

“I just can’t wait to finish my university education so I can finally get out of
your house,” she said as she walked out on her father.

THE FOLLOWING DAY

REVEREND LUCAS ACHAPTERMENT

Tonia was having a discussion with her mom.

“My daughter, no matter what happens he is your father and you must not
forget he is an anointed man of God. You need to protect your life; you
don’t talk rudely to him.” She advised

“I know mom and I feel bad. I love Dad but I just don’t know why he is so
overprotective. He doesn’t want me to have male friends not to talk of going
into a relationship” Tonia laments

“I honestly don’t blame him. His sister was raped to death while his dad
sent his mom packing at the early stage of their marriage. You are his only
child after waiting for many years, it’s very normal for him to act this way.
Just that at times he tends to overreact but all the same you need to find a
way of accommodating his excesses. I can assure you; your father loves
you.”

“I feel so bad right now... I think I need to apologize”.

“You really have to and I think now is the best time to. He is in a relaxed
mood.” Mrs. Lucas said

Tonia gets up and leaves for her dad’s room.

REVEREND LUCAS ROOM

Reverend Lucas is studying his Bible; He receives a call from a private

number.

“Yes who am I talking to?” he asks impatiently.

“Are you in need of cash again?” The caller asked.

“My divine helper. It’s you again. I haven't exhausted the fifty million naira
you sent recently but If God is asking you to send me another… who am I
to say no” He replied.

“That’s okay, I will send ten million naira to you. You can check your bank
account after this call” The caller replied

“Amazing!.. Thank you, but, I am amazed. Why are you doing all this to a
total stranger? I will love to know you in person”

“Don’t worry when the time comes you will know me, very soon I assure
you. I heard there are lots of virgins in your church. Well, I need one virgin.

I believe I have helped you enough. I expect you to reciprocate my kind
gestures without any problem” The caller said.

“That’s a very small issue. You can pick any virgin you want. In fact, I don’t
mind sponsoring your wedding. We need more good men like you”
Reverend Lucas said Excitedly

“Thanks for the approval. Good day!” The caller ends the call.

Tonia opens the door suddenly. They stare at each other for a while without
saying a word.

“I have told you times without number to always knock before you open my
door. What if I was dressing up?” Reverend. Lucas snapped at her.

“I am sorry Dad… I was overwhelmed” Tonia said as she goes on her knees
and apologized to her dad for her rude behavior at the church.

“It’s fine dear, I am glad you have realized your actions were bad. I just
want you to know I am doing this for your own good. Most of those men
out there are evil. I can’t let my only daughter fall victim. “

“I understand you dad and I appreciate you but can you please stop
bragging about my Virginity status. I’ll like to keep it private. It’s my
personal life” She pleaded.

“I’ve heard you if that’s what you want. I will transfer the hundred thousand
naira to your account. You should use it to get whatever you want “

“But Dad, I haven’t even spent the one fifty thousand naira you sent to me..
you are spoiling me..”.

“I shouldn’t let my baby lack anything so those silly men won’t entice you
with material things. If I don’t take care of you…who will?” he said as they
embrace themselves.

MARK’S APARTMENT

Mark narrates all that happened at Reverend. Lucas's office to Frederick.

“Guy! I have told you to forget that babe… her father doesn’t joke with her
o.

I am even shocked she told you to go meet him. The Tonia I know doesn’t
give men audience.” Frederick said.

“But, I have received this lady. I have a strong conviction that she is my
woman. I know my rough lifestyle in the past. I wouldn’t be so stupid to just
approach her when I know the kind of father she has. I won’t give up..”
Mark explained.

“Let the sleeping dog lie. Tell God to give you another woman, I don warn
you oo. Make her papa no go put you for jail o” Frederick warned.

“I have heard you.” Mark replied dejectedly.

REVEREND LUCAS APARTMENT

During the week, Mark tries reaching out to Tonia but she ignored his calls.

“Tonia, why not listen to what this guy has to say. The fact your dad doesn’t
want you to date him doesn’t mean you both can’t be friends” Mary said

“Mary, I know Mark!. He won’t let go easily… the way he spoke the last
time. He isn’t ready to back down. I don’t want any issue with my dad “

“Ok ooo. Let’s see if you will end up marrying your dad. I am going to my
house. it’s past 4 pm already.” Mary said as she gets up. Tonia escorts her
and returns minutes later to meet her mom sited in the living room.

Reverend Lucas walks into the apartment angrily. Tonia and her mum jump
to their feet to welcome him.

“You won’t believe Mark has the guts to come to my place of work. He had
the audacity to tell me he still loves and wants you despite my warnings. I
will deal with him, if care isn’t taken, I think he wants to die young”
Reverend Lucas said angrily.

“Dad! He won’t die young in Jesus' name!” Tonia replied

“My dear, please calm down. You should at least change your clothes and
have a shower. We can discuss this amicably as a family. “Mrs. Lucas
pleaded.

Reverend Lucas picks up his briefcase and walks out on them angrily.

“I have told you to stop challenging your dad. You fight battles with

“My God! What happened!!” She asked

“Will you stop that nonsense coming out of your mouth, it was a mere
coincidence and he never said it affirmatively!. “Mrs. Lucas fired back.

Tonia walked out on her mom and heads for her dad’s room angrily.

Tonia barged in angrily.

SISTERS FELLOWSHIP

The sisters had just finished having their morning prayers. Sister grace
mounts the pulpit to round off the prayers.

“I celebrate you, my sisters. I am proud we have virtuous and vibrant sisters

program. I will like to call Sister Tonia to join me on the altar”

Tonia looked shocked. A lot ran through her mind as she struggles to find
her way to the altar as all eyes are on her.

“My sister, it’s called biblical and kingdom advancement blackmail. The Lord
will be with you.” She said and walked out of the church with great pride.

“I wish she could just feel the pain and shame she has put me through,”

Tonia drags herself out of the chapel and walks home slowly feeling

particular person. She decides to get close to see what’s going on. She was
shocked when she discovered the person in the circle was Sister Grace.

“Sister Grace, what happened?” she asked amidst the shouts of those
gathered.

“Ha! My sister, I was wrongly accused ooo. This man said I stole his phone
and I didn’t.” Grace explained as the people raised their voices against her.

“No mind her… na thief! na my back she sit on top bike.. na she carry my
phone!” the owner of the missing phone said confidently.

“Excuse me, sir. Did you find the phone with her?” Tonia asked.

“No! I dey sure say she don hide am immediately.. na thief…she must pay
for am..” He replied.

leaders in the church. If it gets to floor members, I pray you don’t destroy

Reverend Lucas receives a call from a private number. He excuses himself to

receive the call.

Tonia relaxes on her bed as she goes through her Facebook messages. She

“Wow! This guy definitely must be Anointed with all these pictures I’m
seeing and he isn’t looking bad too.. “ she says to herself as she accepts his
request.

“Hi Tonia, thanks for accepting my request. I hope I’m welcome to your
friend zone?” Samson message popped up.

“Yeye, that’s how they start like one responsible guy. One would be friends
with them now, they will start saying trash… abeg! I don’t have time” she
said to herself as she logs out of her Facebook account and she takes a nap.

Not long after, she had a dream; she was in the car with her dad, they were
returning from church. All of a sudden, a fierce looking man appears in front
of their car. Her father stops the car abruptly. The fierce looking man hands
over a brief case to her father then her father hands her over to him.

fires hard at Mary.

if you were in my shoes.” Mary said apologetically.

“Actually, the information I heard was false, he actually collapsed. I never

the message that we have been awarded the contract and half of the money
was paid to our account immediately” Edward explained.

“Is that so?” Reverend. Lucas asked Excitedly

“Yes sir.. God is truly in this place.. the Lord instructed us to sow a seed into
your ministry. When you made the announcement about the Land, we

she kneels before him.

warned.

“What!! That’s totally impossible!. I now understand what’s going on. You
must have had an informant. They already informed you of the latest
development. You know you have lost. “Reverend Lucas said.

“You glory in foolishness. Let me ask you a question. When they gave you
the cheque what was the next step you took?”

“I went alongside my Elders to the Land Lord with the cheque. He said he
will cash it out tomorrow.” We signed the necessary documents. I can
proudly say we own the place now.”

“Is that all?... Do you think I didn’t know the landlord returned the cheque
to you? He told you the Lord asked him to bless you with the land”

“Yes, he said that.” Reverend. Lucas replied.

“Did you inform anyone about it?” the stranger asked.

Tonia lays on her bed. She laughs loud as she talks with her friend over the
phone. Mary watches her amusingly

“You have really made me laughed tonight.. thank you so so much.

Honestly, I had my doubts but I think I’m gradually getting convinced that
you are a good man” Tonia replied
“I already told you I am different…I mean well for you. Don’t worry, time
will tell if I am real or not. Thanks for giving me the chance to be friends
with you. I will talk to you tomorrow. My regards to Mary. Good night”

“Good night dear” Tonia replied as she ends the call. Mary clears her throat.
She noticed Tonia didn’t pay attention. She kept coughing but Tonia ignored

“Tonia! You are heartless o.. I have been coughing, you didn’t even bother
to check if I am okay or not. What if I choke to death?” Mary asked.

“Mary! I know you well, nothing is wrong with you. I know what you mean
by that cough.. amebo” Tonia said jokingly.

Reverend. Lucas stops his prayers abruptly and he sits on his bed covered in
hot sweats.

“My God! I hope it’s not what I’m thinking?. No! Tonia must not be involved
in this whole mess.

He gets up and paces around the room, he flings his phone on the bed out
of frustration. His phone rings almost immediately. He rushes to pick it.

“Did you get my message?” his landlord asked

“Keep my family out of this!” Reverend. Lucas barked

“Do you have a daughter?” He asked sternly.

“I don’t!... I don’t have a daughter!.. this is between you and I. This has
nothing to do with my family”

“I hope all is well?” Samson asked looking concerned.

“Oh.. yes all is well, just a little family problem” Tonia replied

"I understand. I know that feeling, don’t let it bother you, there is absolutely
nothing God can’t do. I would have said we should pray but we are in a
public place.. so, they don’t bundle us out of here" Samson said jokingly

Tonia laughs at his jokes as they wine and dine for a while before leaving
for their respective destination.

TONIA’S ROOM

Tonia sits on her bed and reminisces on her conversation with her dad.

“What’s happening?.. a man has been sent to destroy my life.! I don’t

understand.. is Dad expecting me to remain single all my life or did he say
that so I can abstain from sexual immorality? .. why do I feel there is more
to this ‘keep your virginity at all cost’?

Mary’s friend visited this evening and repeated the exact thing you said
earlier”

“Thank you, Jesus! I am glad the Lord has confirmed it through someone

“I will dad but do you have a hint or something because not making new
friends is quite tricky. If I have a hint or so… it could help”

“Well, after our discussion earlier, I prayed further and God said the

moment you told me he approached You I called him immediately to warn
him. “Reverend Lucas said

“Better! You needed to see the way he harassed me. That was some silly
joke. If I even want to marry someone, is it that ugly-looking man?
Rubbish!”

exactly happened” Pastor Jerry said trying to calm him down enough for him
to talk clearly

Reverend. Lucas narrated all that has been happening to him.

Reverend. Lucas said looking so confused.

“Transfer it from your Church’s account. God will understand. Any

responsible father will do that. After all, your home is also a ministry. So,

“I am in love with her, and I intend to make her my woman,” Samson said.

“Ha! Just like that!” Mary exclaimed.

“Yes, Mary! Is anything the problem?” he asked.

“Nooo. I am just shocked. So, Mr. Samson, how do you want me to come
in?”

“Thank you! Honestly, from the surface, it looks like she likes me too. But
Tonia is a very strong lady. You can’t even know what is going through her
mind. I will really appreciate it if you can help me talk to her. I’m ready to
give you any amount just for you to help me talk to her,” Samson pleaded.

“Mr. Samson! Wait a minute! It seems there is something you are not telling
me. You sound so desperate to have Tonia. I am scared o,” Mary
responded.

“No cause for alarm dear. My dad told me I must introduce my wife to him

untimely, and Tonia is the next Delilah because if you end up with that lady,
you will end up losing your life gallantly without stress.”

asked, visibly angry.

“Samson!” Tonia shouted excitedly.

“God forbids!. Samson is a terrible guy”

“Mary! Why will you say such?. You know that’s not true”

“What if I tell you, Samson and I just left the restaurant together. He told
me heard you are a witch and you have an evil spirit. I was seriously mad at
him for saying such trash”

“Mary! If this is a joke, please stop it..” Tonia said almost offended

“I know you won’t believe it. Luckily for me, I was able to record a few of
his statements. When I tried to pacify him to talk to you about it.. this was

Mary played the audio.

Someone knocks and Mary rushes to open the door. They were surprised to
see Apostle Peter who walks in majestically

“Apostle! We weren’t expecting you. I hope all is well?” Mary asked

“Sister Mary, you should know by now that men of grace and honor like us
don’t just pay people visit for no reason. I have been served very hot manna
from heaven and I have been asked to deliver it on of you” he said

“I don’t understand, no one placed an order for manna.. you and your
parables.. we aren’t in the mood for that right now.. can you just hit the nail
on the head, sir?” Tonia pleaded.

Tonia and Apostle Peter stepped out

“All is well my dear sister. Of recent, I have been praying. God made me
understand, you have been going through some strange occurrences when
it comes to relationship issues. Is this true?”

“Yes Apostle…you are right,” she replied.

“Well, congratulations, your days of mourning are over. Just yesterday

night, my Spiritual Bluetooth connected with yours. The Lord told me you
are my wife. I won’t rush you. Take your time… God bless you” he said as
he hurriedly takes his leave.

BEDROOM

Mrs. Lucas suddenly jumps from her sleep. She taps her husband repeatedly
and he reluctantly sits up.

“What is it for crying out loud?. Can’t it wait till dawn?” Reverend Lucas
laments

“I am sorry dear; I had a terrible dream. You held a box filled with treasures
and you were taking them to an elderly man dressed in black wearing a very
fierce and wicked look. I kept shouting and pleading for you to come back
but you refused. The moment you handed it over to him, he struck you and
you died” she explained

“I reject it in Jesus’ name. Wait a minute, did you and Tonia plan all these,
she also called this night telling me one prophecy her pastor friend told her
and I am sure she told you before calling me.”

“Yes she did… but my dear, I am for real. please, I trust you but I hope you
are not about to get involved in any secret thing?”

“Women! You think too deep. Anyways, I appreciate your concern. I

understand the dream well, it’s a contract myself and a few friends of mine

TONIA’S AND MARY’S ROOM

“You won’t believe I have been trying Samson’s number for days now, it’s
been saying calls diverted. I think he barred my calls” Tonia said

“Babe, I have told you to let that guy be. I already narrated the whole trash
he said about you the previous day” Mary said

“I know Mary but I want to hear from him directly. He needs to tell me why
he will say such nonsense. Why couldn’t he tell it to my face instead of
going behind my back and telling my friend? what if you weren’t a good
friend?!”

“I know how you feel. I’m so concerned about you. It’s obvious you need a
companion. Since Samson has done his worst, who do you have in mind, or
have you given up on getting a soul mate?” Mary asked

“No! You know at times when God wants to give you the original, the devil
brings the counterfeit. I allowed my personal desires to cloud my sense of
reasoning. Fred is actually the right guy for me. I will give him my response
after the service this evening” Tonia said.

know each other well. Samson just popped up from nowhere. I don’t trust
all these social media guys o” Mary said

REVEREND LUCAS APARTMENT

Reverend Lucas prepares to leave for the evening service. His wife comes
out of the room to bid him goodbye.

“My one and only king, I can see you look so happy and refreshed. It’s been
a while I saw you in this mood' Mrs. Lucas teased.

“My dear, that’s one of the benefits of having a wife those cares and knows
God. I have been burdened with a whole lot for a while now but the
revelation you had coupled with what Tonia’s friend said. It gave the right
direction. I am glad the coast is clear. I am favored to have you in my life”
Reverend Lucas praised her.

“Ha! Who is cutting onions…? I feel like crying o… all those sweet words for
me alone. Honestly, I didn’t know you would listen to me. I am glad. Thanks
for being not just a good father but a great priest and husband. My one and
only boo-boo” she tickled him

“Should we go over to his place to check on him, since it’s also the same

coming from the room, after several minutes of knocking on his door
without response. They pushed the door open and were shocked to meet
Fred half-naked with one of the fellowship workers in bed.

At the end of the service, Reverend Lucas had brief counseling sessions with
some of his members. Mr. Robert, the church administrator enters his office
minutes after all the counselee had left.

“Mr. Robert, you are still around. I hope all is well?” Reverend Lucas asked.

“There is something very important I need to tell you, sir. “

“Oh! Go on, what is it?”

“The elders and the members of the committee already found out that you
withdrew the sum of hundred million naira from the church’s account and
they held an emergency meeting yesterday. They all agreed since it’s the
money they all contributed for the orphanage, you had no right to tamper
with it. They have contacted a legal adviser and all things being equal sir,
they plan on involving the police also. Mr. Robert explained looking very

“You mean they found out but how come, didn’t you do the things I asked
you to.?” He asked worryingly.

“I did, sir… I honestly don’t know how.” Robert explained, looking anxious
too.

“It’s fine. I will see how to sort it out. We need to have an emergency
meeting tomorrow morning.” Reverend Lucas said.

“Sir! … You said we? Who are the ‘we’, sir?” Robert asked

“You and I, of course! We both know about this. We both need to find a
way out of this. Or do you want to go to jail?”

“That’s one of the reasons I am here, sir.. I had to read more about the
history of my forefathers when I got home yesterday. I discovered none of
them has ever been to jail…. with me here is my resignation letter. The
angel of God visited me yesterday and asked me to change location. The
Lord will see you out of this mess.” Robert said.

“You can’t be serious! when you were collecting tips from me, angel of God
didn’t tell you to change location. Now, there is fire on the mountain, an
angel of God is telling you to move?” Reverend. Lucas yelled.

“Sir, please be calming down. The way your veins are popping out. It’s
dangerous… sir. I was only being obedient. The Bible says every form of
disobedience is witchcraft and collecting those tips from you and doing your
wish was only being obedient. Receive the grace to withstand the suffering
coming, sir. Shalom”

Robert zooms out of the office. Reverend Lucas tried calling him, but all to
no avail.

“Ha! Truly, the hearts of men are desperately wicked… I am in a big mess! I
shouldn’t have listened to Jerry. I need to call him right away. He put me in
this mess”

He dials pastor Jerry’s number repeatedly before he finally picked.

it would work out,” Pastor Jerry said confidently.

“What good news! There is fire on the mountain!…. The entire plot has been
discovered. I have only tomorrow to cough out the money or else I will go

“Wow, I never knew it will turn out this way. The only advice I can give you
now is to open up to your wife. In fact, as we speak, I am going on a
personal retreat and my phone will be off for weeks… I will join you in this
battle spiritually. God bless you, my friend.” Pastor Jerry said and hung up
the call.

He picks up his car keys and leaves the church

On hearing the horn, his wife, who had prepared his favorite rushes to open
the door. Reverend Lucas wore a worrisome look. He sits restlessly. His wife
sits beside him.

“Dear, what’s wrong? You look so worried. Please tell to me,” She pleaded.

off. He isn’t capable, so he used part of the church’s money.”

“Did he inform his wife all along?” She asked.

“No, he didn’t want to stress her.”.

“He is a wicked man. Why won’t he inform his wife, now that he is this
mess, is that not worse stress for her. I don’t know why some men are so
secretive, when issues happen now, the wife will be the one to suffer it
more. I wish I can discuss with his wife; I will tell her to take her child and
park out of that house. He should face the consequences himself since he
has been toying with his family’s life all along.”

“He was only trying to protect them,” Reverend Lucas said soothingly

“No, that’s not protection! He should have informed them; they would have
all watched and prayed. Look at how everything played out now, he

“Not at all! Never. You should know I will never do such,” he replied.

“Better…well, I trust you. Please cheer up, I prepared your favorites. Let’s
go get something to eat”

As they were about to stand-up, he receives a text from his landlord.

As they were about to stand up, he receives a text from his landlord.

MINISTRY, I CAN SETTLE YOUR DEBT WITHOUT ASKING YOU TO PAY
BACK. TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLIED.. CALL ME IF YOU ARE
INTERESTED REVEREND”

Reverend Lucas couldn’t sleep throughout the night. He kept reminiscing on

the landlord’s message. He was stuck between confessing to the elders or
calling the landlord.

Fred kneels while Tonia and Mary stare at him.

“Girls, you aren’t saying anything. I said I am sorry. I didn’t know what

high hopes. What if I tell you, Tonia was actually going to give you a
positive response that very day but you allowed your promiscuous life to
ruin your chances.” Mary fired at Him.

“Ha! I have been gotten. Give me a second chance!”

Mary and Tonia bundled him out of the room

“My dear, so what will you do now? Won’t you take your time since your two
best suitors have disappointed you” Mary advised.

“Actually, Apostle Peter also asked me out, he claimed he has received me,”

“Apostle Peter ke! With that his funny lifestyle. Are you sure he is the kind
of man you desire?”

“Value wise he is, but I believe one can change a few things about him. At
least he’s better than all these useless boys that call themselves men”.

“True though, I will advise you to pray about it well. You know apostle isn’t
romantic. If you still desire to stick with him. The best time to give him an
appropriate reply is next tomorrow,” Mary said.

They both laughed as he enters.

blazers? It’s boiling out there” Tonia asked.

“My sister, it’s beyond what you think. It’s highly prophetic. You see the way
I am sweating. I am sweating out every spirit that is not of the Lord in my
life”

“Kai! Glory!! Preach it sir!” Mary teased

“My sister! Can I please see you outside for a minute”?

day. I hope it’s not that you are trying to woo her” Mary teased.

“Hmmm! The Bible says ask and it shall be given unto you… I am only
asking her the pattern and system for her marital fulfillment. Soon, you will

They all laughed. Tonia and Apostle Peter stepped out.

“Apostle Peter! I hope all is well?” Tonia asked.

“Of course! Have you gotten any confirmation from God about us?” he
asked.

“Something like that! But when it’s time I will let you know”

“Alright, while praying overnight, the Lord asked me to tell you to be very
careful this week. The devil is trying to use a man to ruin your life. I don’t
know if you have hurt anyone but if you haven’t, please be very careful. The
devil has evil plans for you this week. I pray it won’t come to pass in Jesus’
name…”.

“Amen! Thank you so much for always putting me in your prayers. I hope
you know my birthday is next tomorrow?”

It’s a day before Tonia’s birthday, she and Mary bakes her birthday cake.
They sing and vibe along to the loud music playing from their sound system.
Few minutes later Tonia receives a call from her dad. She rushes out of the
room to pick the call because of the loud music.

“Hello Dad,”

“I have been trying your line. You got me nervous. Where is that loud music
coming from and where are you? Are you safe? “Reverend Lucas asked
curiously.

“Dad! Which will I answer first? It’s everything okay? You sound so
disturbed. Mom also told me you have been acting awkward of late and that
whenever she asks what the issue is; you keep saying all is well,” Tonia said

“My dear, you should know I hate to stress her. I have been bothered. Can
you please come home today?”

her belly, ready to stab herself.

“What is the meaning of this?” Reverend Lucas asked impatiently

“Oh! You can see I am holding a knife yet you are still asking me questions.
Well, my dear husband, it’s very simple... when I stab myself, you will
understand better,” she replied amidst sobs.

“Dear, what has gotten over you? If this is a joke, please stop it! I am not in
the mood for all this drama of yours,” she replied as she pushed the knife a

Reverend Lucas goes on his knees, immediately pleading with her to drop

were times Tonia appeared in his dream, pleading with him to help her.

Mr. Johnson sits in his chair, lost in thoughts, his personal assistant walks in.

“Hello sir,” she calls out three times, but he didn’t respond until she tapped
him softly.

“Oh! I am so sorry. How are you and have you been able to get across to
chief Benson?”

“Yes, sir… sir, sorry to pry into your privacy. I noticed ever since we
returned from the prison, you have not been yourself. I hope all is well, sir?”
she asked.

“My dear, to be honest with you. I have not been settled ever since I had a

They alight from the car and approached the security man. The security

macho stature and beards” Samson replied jokingly. They laugh out loud.

The security man comes out reluctantly

and her mum is lying almost lifeless in the hospital. It’s so painful Tonia got
caught up in the web” Johnson said sadly.

“It’s so painful... at this point, you need to go visit her again tomorrow. She
should know one or two persons in mind that might have had issues with
her father”

“Samson, I don’t get you. I should visit her or we both should visit her. Have
you forgotten you asked me to lie low?... and to be honest with you, there is
a limit to what I can do at this point. We both need to work hand in hand “

"You mean the lady your dad sent away from the church alongside her
father?” Johnson asked

“Exactly!” she replied

“Do you know where she lives?” Samson asked.

“She once sent me her address but I know where she schools at and I also
know her department and full name.”

“Oh! Great, that’s better. We will get them from you and pay her a visit”
Johnson said.

“Thank you, sir. I am so grateful for your help”

“Tonia, I accept all the blame and I promise to do all I can to get you out of
here. I know delay can be very dangerous. I will travel down to her school
first thing tomorrow morning, just keep praying also… God is merciful.”
Samson assured.

“Thank you. I pray everything works out well… I am glad to see you.”

“Same here Tonia, you must get out of this mess. We have a lot of catching
up to do.” Samson said with a smile.

After a while, they take their leave.

THE FOLLOWING DAY

LINDA’S SCHOOL

Samson, Johnson and Linda sit under a tree to discuss. It wasn’t easy
convincing Linda to have a discussion with them but she finally yielded due
of Tonia’s involvement in the whole mess.

“Honestly, if not for Tonia I won’t be having this discussion with you.
Reverend Lucas deserved to die.” Linda said with no emotion.

“I understand miss Linda but I just want you to please consider your friend
Tonia. She has been wrongly accused and we have a limited time to sort
this out because they have sentenced her to death already” Johnson pleads.

“My God! Tonia is a very sweet and amazing lady… she doesn’t deserve
this.” Linda said.

“I was thinking, you had a hand in Reverend Lucas death at first because
Tonia told us what her father did to you but with the way you sound now. I

doubt if you know anything about it. I am pleading, if you have any hint.
Just help us” Samson pleaded with her.

"It’s normal for people to suspect me, to be honest, at a point I wanted

revenge especially when my dad died. The shame was too much for him to
bear. He committed suicide… Her voice trailed off.
“I was very furious, and I had set out for revenge but I had an encounter
with God the night before. It wasn’t easy for me but I thank God I have
gotten over it.”

“Wow! I am so sorry for your loss, accept our sincere condolences” Johnson
said apologetically.

“Wait a minute, a lady once called me several months ago and asked if I
wanted revenge. I remember so well. She also narrated how Reverend
Lucas raped her and forcefully took her virginity. So, she needed someone
to join her on her revenge mission”

“Oh! Great! The security man said the killer was a lady. This might be
useful. Can you remember any other information, please?” Samson asked.

“I remember she said we should unleash the ‘virgin’s wrath' on him but
unfortunately, I lost my phone and could not retrieve my line back…”

“VIRGIN’S WRATH?!” Johnson muttered

“Did she tell you her name?”

“No. she only said our code will be "THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH"

“She is the one! It is the same lady that killed him” Johnson affirmed.

“How sure are you?” she asked.

“The killer left a note at the crime scene and those were the exact words
she wrote” Samson explained.

They had further discussions and left for their hotel.

HOTEL ROOM

“I think at this juncture, it is safe to say Tonia isn’t the killer” Samson said

“I told you that girl can’t be the killer… she is innocent” Johnson replied.

“Reverend Lucas was truly a beast. It’s so shameful some men of God
destroy lives rather than reshape them. Many are still performing miracles
but God doesn’t recognize them anymore” Johnson added.

“You are right. But come to think of it. Why did Mary decide to cause a
separation Tonia and I?”

“You know ladies can be very jealous. Probably, she loved you and she saw
Tonia has a stumbling block” Johnson replied.

“We never spoke or had reasons to see each other ever since then. If she
had an interest in me, she would have made advances or shoot her shot
afterward…”

“I guess she was shy…”

“Johnson, I can tell you that lady is as bold as a lion… that can’t be the
case”

“So, what are you insinuating?”

“Where was she that night Tonia visited the guy that raped her?” Samson
asked.

“Guy! Stop adding things up… remember, Tonia told us yesterday that Mary
has been paying her a visit and has been a source of hope to her... “

“What if Tonia’s aim is to come out and seek for revenge”

“Revenge? Her father is dead! This whole revenge of a thing ended the
moment her dad died!” Johnson said.

“You think she will want the guy that raped her go Scot free?... Johnson, as
a legal practitioner, something isn’t right. We need to travel back first thing
tomorrow morning and pay Tonia a visit. I need to have a conversation with
her”

PRISON

“I wasn’t expecting you today… how did it go?” Tonia asked.

“Yeah! I needed to discuss some things with you. It went well .. we met
with her but unfortunately she isn’t the one” Samson replied.

“I know Linda isn’t a cold-blooded lady... where is Mr. Johnson?”

“He had to stay back at his office. He is attending to an urgent case

between two couples”

“Oh! I see. So, what next?” she asked expectantly.

“How often does Mary visit you?”

“Very often... she should be here today” Tonia replied

“Oh! That’s great!”

“Any problem? Why did you ask?”

“Nothing really. That night Peter carried out his plans, where was she?”

“She stayed back at our apartment. She was actually preparing for my
birthday. “

“Okay… When your dad died, did she reach out to you?”

“No, she started visiting me recently. She said she has been sick”

“Alright. Thanks “

“Why all these questions? Are you trying to say Mary knows about all this?”.

“Oh no! You know we can’t leave any stone unturned. Just wanted to know”

“Alright. Mary is my best friend, and she is always looking out for me. She
can’t do such a thing. She doesn’t have issues with my dad” she replied
assuredly.

“Yeah! true. Let me be on my way, I will get back to you”

TWO HOURS LATER

Mary had gone to pay Tonia a visit, the moment she stepped out of the
prison gates, Samson beckoned to her. He had been on the lookout for her.

“Hi Samson, you are the last person I expected to see here.” Mary said

“Yeah. Longest time, can we have a little chat in my car, please”

“No problem” She replied as they walk to his car.

“Seeing Tonia in this kind of mess must have been so hard for you” Samson
said

“You are right. It hurt to see her in such a mess. I know Tonia can’t kill her
dad… she isn’t evil”

“Yeah, but why are you just showing up now. I was hoping you would be by
her side throughout”

“I wasn’t feeling too well man. I was hospitalized, I paid her a visit the
moment they discharged me.”

“Wow. Sorry about that dear. What hospital did they admit you?”

“Hmmm… The hospital is not so far from the school, the one opposite that
big restaurant”

“Oh! I know the place, sorry about that. How about your friend, Peter?”

“I Haven’t heard from him. He deserves to die for what he did, I didn’t
expect that he would so such a thing.”

“We can trust no one you know, let me have your digit please. It would be
nice to hang out together one of these days”

THE FOLLOWING DAY

MR. JOHNSON OFFICE

“Is that really necessary?” Johnson asked.

“Yes, it is! We can’t take chances. We need to visit the hospital… I don’t
trust that girl”

They visited the hospital and discovered Mary lied then they returned to
their respective offices

“I knew there was something about that lady that wasn’t clear” Samson said
angrily.

“I am so confused right now! What’s going on exactly?” Johnson said to

himself.

FEW HOURS LATER

The secretary walks into the office to inform them Mary is at the reception
waiting to see them.

“What! Why did you give her the address to my office?” Johnson asked
impatiently.

“I didn’t. I don’t know how she got it.”

“Tell her to come in, I believe all will be well” Johnson said.

Mary walks into the office majestically.

“Surprised to see me?” she says amidst laughter as she takes her seat.

“Yeah. Kind of… well, you are welcome. Meet my friend. Mr.”

“Mr. Johnson the counsellor. The one writing Tonia’s story… that’s nice”
Mary cuts in.

“Seems to me like you know a lot.” Samson said.

“A lot like, visiting Linda to ask if she killed Rev Lucas, visiting the hospital to
be sure if they really admitted me. You felt you were trailing me. I have
been the one trailing you, you should be careful” she said.

“Why?” Johnson asked

“Because the wages of sin is death, and every sinner deserves to die… don’t
join a fight you can’t finish” she fires angrily.

They were shocked!

“You are the killer?!” Samson said

“What do you think? Let me ask you a question. if your sister was raped by
her best friend’s dad and the day she told him she was carrying his baby, he
drugged her and took her to the clinic to have the pregnancy removed. In
the process, she lost her womb because he took her to a quack doctor.
What will you do?”

“Mary, hold on… was that what happened between you and Reverend
Lucas?” Samson asked

“Now you know! I went to pay Tonia a visit that very day, unfortunately she
wasn’t around. Then the whole thing happened”

“My God! Why didn’t you speak out?” Johnson asked.

“None would believe me; he has influence and will cover his tracks very
well. He offered me some huge amount, but I rejected it. I vowed to ruin
Tonia’s life as a payback. Luckily for me, I wasn’t the only one trying to hurt
him. Peter’s father who knows about all that transpired between us struck a
deal with me. Peter was the weapon of destruction”

“Are you trying to say, Peter was not a student?” Samson asked.

“Yes! It was all a plan work. Tonia was so foolish to believe me. She knew
all my friends, but she wasn’t wise enough to ask questions when Peter
suddenly surfaced.”

“Ha! Humans!!!” Johnson exclaimed.

“Yeah, humans are wicked right? Reverend Lucas was an anointed bully, we
have many of them out there today, using the grace and anointing God
gave them to oppress people and destroy lives. As for Tonia, she trusted her
friends more than herself. I am sure if she had a good communication with
the Holy Spirit, she might have found out about my evil plans”.

“Mary! She never deserved this. You shouldn’t have brought her into this
whole mess… you should be the one in that prison and that’s where you
belong” Samson yelled.

“Don’t stress yourself young man. The police are trailing me.”

“Why?” Johnson asked.

“Well, I just killed their gate man. Remember, the wages of sin is death, I
warned him not to speak, but he disobeyed and gave you both a hint “

“You are evil!” Samson shouted angrily

“You find it so comfortable wasting lives. You have suddenly become a

monster.” Johnson said clearly bewildered.

“I had my dreams and aspirations but he turned me into a beast. Some
Ladies out there are going through the same pain, they had dreams and
desires but they met the devil right in the church. I have made my
confession in this tape. Save Tonia!”

FINAL EPISODE

Mary walks out on them as they watch her leave speechlessly.

“How come you let her go without arresting her?” Johnson queried

“Do I look like a police officer? At least you heard all she said.. I doubt if she
will survive this. They are on her trail already” Samson responded.

“So, what next? _

“I will begin the legal process to make sure all is sorted out… With this, I
know my Tonia will be saved” he replied excitedly.

“Did you just say your Tonia? Tell me something I don’t know. You still love
her?” Johnson asked.

“To be honest with you. I do. I am thinking of proposing to her once she
steps out. “

“Wow! Lucky girl, she will have someone to walk her through the path of
recovery. She actually needs a shoulder to lean on... I just hope you mean
this, don’t bring up excuses later on that she was raped and the like.”

“Of course not. I am not a baby; I have had a thorough thought on this. She
is the woman I want… at least, she is free from The Virgin's Wrath.”
Samson’s said

“All well and good then. The Lord will direct us all.”

FEW WEEKS LATER

Tonia was finally saved but her mother didn’t survive the whole trauma. She
died on her sickbed. Johnson and Samson made sure they assisted Tonia in
getting back to her normal life but it was such a difficult task. She picked up
gradually.

THE FOLLOWING WEEK

JOHNSON’S OFFICE

“What’s the plan bro?” Johnson asked.

“She should be here any minute from now… I will make the proposal during
the course of our discussion.”

“Great! I pray everything turns out well. All the best man” Johnson said
equally excited for him.

“Definitely, I can tell you she still loves me. We have spoken so deep. So,
don’t be scared.”

“I am just glad she is picking up well. It’s so sad some of us are suffering
because of the sins our parents committed.” Johnson said

“Have you forgotten the story of King Ahab when he killed Naboth? God
sent Elijah to inform him he shall die. Ahab pleaded with God and God
forgave him but told him, his children will pay for the sin. I really pity those
who don’t pray about their foundation” Samson explained.

“You are so right. Only if Reverend Lucas hid nothing from his wife, all of
these could have been avoided. Secrets can destroy a glorious home. it’s a
pity Tonia had to pay the price for her father’s sins. All is well”

Few minutes later, Tonia walks into the office. They welcome her happily.
They all gist and merry for a while…during the middle of the whole
merriment,
Samson goes on his knees and brings out a beautiful ring.
**

“Tonia, I know I have hurt you in the past and made a silly mistake but now
I know better. I haven’t found anyone that fits in the way you do. I am
ready to accept you the way you are. Tonia, I want you to be my woman.”

“Oh my God! This can’t be happening… I never knew I will still find a man to
love me and accept me the way I am…”

During the midst of her speech, she ran to the bathroom to throw up.
It occurred twice in less than five minutes to the amusement of Johnson and
Samson.

“Tonia, what’s going on?” Samson asked.

“I am sorry, I think I am pregnant” she replied.

“For who?” Johnson asked.

“It must be Peter’s baby; he is the only man that met with me… It must be
the outcome of the night he raped me” she replied and slumps.
