sustainable, environmentally friendly tourism possible. The term ‘eco-tourism’ has been used (27)
__________ 1983 to refer to vacations that are spent in natural environments without disturbing or
damaging natural habitats. Profits from this type of tourism generally help support the local

planet which not many tourists have ever seen before. Therefore, it is also a great way to experience
new cultures and original lifestyles. Unfortunately, (29) __________ eco-tourism tries its best to
keep the adverse impact on our environment to a minimum, chances are that the local wildlife will
still be disturbed to a certain extent. Let’s look at Kenya, where trips on safari are usually in the

activities. Cúc Phương – the jungle-trekker’s dream – is the oldest national park in Vietnam. It’s
home to a dense forest of millennia-old trees, botanical gardens, caves and two animal sanctuaries
which are worth exploring. You can spend the whole day trekking and bird-watching; or book a
stay in the stilt houses of the hospitable Mường people for an authentic experience with locals. Cat
Tien, which lies across Đồng Nai, Lâm Đồng, Bình Phước with a total size of 70,548 hectares of
land, is one of the largest national parks in Vietnam. It also shelters hundreds of ‘critically
endangered’ Siamese crocodiles. Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng national park is also a must-see. This park
is a true paradise both above ground, with jungles and mountains, and underground, with one of the
world’s largest caves. Ba Bể national park is the most important wetland in Vietnam’s protected
area system because it is the only site that has a natural lake surrounded by a mountainous karst
ecosystem. Ba Bể lake is also a wonder itself. The calm currents of the lake are perfect for
swimming, fishing, and riding on boat trips. Or you can choose to either hike or cycle along the lake

At Kolarbyn Eco-Lodge, visitors have the chance to get a taste of a simple life, surrounded by

open fire and wander the mossy woods. In the evening, you can take one of the guided tours and see
moose, beavers, wolves and other wild animals in their natural habitat. You can also explore the
tranquil lake and the surrounding forest in a canoe, go for a wild swim, or head out for a longer hike
in the endless forest. As darkness falls, you can close the door to your little hut, and slowly go to
sleep on soft sheep skins to the sounds of the forest and the crackling fireplace. It’s a great
opportunity to enjoy an environmentally friendly holiday. On top of that, a percentage of the
revenue coming into Kolarbyn goes straight to a range of projects that support the preservation of
the environment. A minimum age of 18 is required to book a stay at Kolarbyn, and the resort is
popular, so you should book in advance.
