ABSTRACT

The objectives of AICTE student activity are to expose students to the real time life challenges, to
provide opportunity to gather data, analyses data, propose solutions and implement solutions, provide an
opportunity for personal development, to create engineers who are proud volunteers having a sense of
achievement and ready to take up projects having social impact and to create digital awareness.

Apart from technical knowledge and skills, to be successful as professionals, students should have
excellent soft skills, leadership qualities and team spirit. They should have entrepreneurial capabilities
and societal commitment. In order to match these multifarious requirements, AICTE has created a unique
mechanism of awarding Activity Points over and above the academic grades. Helping local schools to
achieve good result and enhance their enrolment in Higher/ technical/ Vocational Education.

Preparing an actionable business proposal for enhancing the village Income. Developing
Sustainable Water Management System, Tourism Promotion Innovative Approaches. Promotion of
Appropriate Technologies. Reduction in Energy Consumption. To Skill rural population. Facilitating
100% Digitized money transactions. Setting of the information imparting club for women leading to
contribution in social and economic issues. Developing and managing efficient garbage disposable
system. To assist the marketing of rural produce. Food packaging. Automation of local activities.

ACTIVITY 5
DEVELOPING AND MANAGING THE GARBAGE
DISPOSAL SYSTEM
Person-In-Charge: Dr. Mohan Babu V

Description:

• The AICTE Activity Points project focuses on Incorporating educational programs or initiatives that

provide opportunities for the community to observe the recycling process and enhance awareness and

understanding of waste management practices.

• These programs can include guided tours of recycling facilities, demonstrations of recycling equipment

and processes, or hands-on workshops where participants learn about sorting and processing recyclable

materials.

• Observing the recycling process can be a powerful motivator for individuals to adopt recycling

practices daily. Seeing the tangible outcomes of recycling efforts, such as transformed materials being

repurposed into new products, can encourage residents to participate more actively in recycling

programs and initiatives.

• The outcome was a sense of pride and accomplishment for having been part of this activity Exposure

to the recycling process can open up career opportunities for engineering students in the fields of waste

management, environmental engineering, sustainable design, and green technology development.

• It broadens their career horizons and equips them with valuable skills and knowledge sought after by

employers in industries focused on sustainability and resource management.

TO SKILL RURAL POPULATION

Documentation On

“To Skill Rural Population” in

“Rural Tech Empowerment
Initiative"

Person In-Charge: Dr. Mohan Babu V

Description:

1. The AICTE Activity Points project has a focus on applying engineering skills to solve the social

problems existing in India. The project "To Skill Rural Population” throws light on possible

opportunities for the engineering solution in educating/teaching new and useful skills to the rural

population parents for their children.

2. We decided to conduct this drive, in a nearby rural area Kumbalagodu, which is a few kilometers

away from the city. We left early in the morning and started finding shops in that village that are not

using digital payments and are still dependent on cash only.

3. By following the instructions of our coordinator, we decided to meet to teach how to use digital

online payment, especially for old people.

4. We taught them to download the Phonepe app, The old man was very much amazed by this help

and showed a lot of interest in learning and started making online transactions and thanked us a lot,

and our college Vkit for Educating elderly people about digital transactions helps them understand

how to protect themselves from financial scams and fraud.

5. The outcome was a sense of pride and accomplishment for having been part of a teaching

revolution and for having contributed to the society and country by teaching others what we know.

SWACHH BHARATH ABHIYAN

Documentation On

“Swachh Bharath Abhiyan”

Person In-Charge: Dr. Mohan Babu V

Description:

1. Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, or Clean India Mission is a

country-wide campaign initiated by the Government of India in 2014 to eliminate open

defecation and improve solid waste management.

2. This was a drive organized by the students of VKIT to contribute to keeping our

surroundings clean. We had to target our surroundings and do our bit to clean up a few

garbage disposed areas.

3. We decided to conduct this drive near Kanakpura road, udayapur village, Bengaluru. We

split into groups and cleaned each and every part near road sides. We also cleaned the

surrounding areas of that place that had the most garbage and wastes that were dumped.

Around 30-40 students showed up and did the activity in groups.

4. By following the guidance of our coordinator, we started to tidy the place and dispose all

the waste items scattered around into large plastic bags which were later carefully disposed

of.

5. We have demonstrated a strong commitment through SBM by improving the sanitation

infrastructure and promoting sustainable practices.

PLANTATION AWERNESS IN URBAN

Documentation On

“Plantation Awareness in Urban” in

"Pu Thi Narasimhachar Park”

Person In-Charge: Dr. Mohan Babu V

Description:

1. The AICTE Activity Points project has the focus on applying engineering skills to solve
the social problems existing in India. The project “Plantation Awareness in Urban”
throws a light on possible opportunity for the engineering solution in educating/teaching
new and useful skills to the Urban population.
2. We decided to conduct this drive, in Pu Thi Narasimhachar Park. We went to park and
discussed our idea with the Wardens. The Warden took interestand gave us permission
to teach the plantation awareness to the students. Around 10 people had showed up and
were divided into teams and we got to work immediately.
3. We started to teach students new skills and created awareness about the plants, trees and
we thought them to protect our environment.
4. Harmful CO2 contributes to climate change, the biggest current problem the world has
to deal with. Trees, however, help to fight it.
5. Purifying Air have you ever felt that feeling of cleaner air in the woods or by seaside.
Well, you were right because it is well known that the trees purify the air.
6. The outcome was a sense of pride and accomplishment for having been part of a teaching
revolution and for having contributed to the society and country by teaching others what
we know. The main takeaway was that we have to be responsible and do our tiny parts
by helping everyone through knowledge, if everyone starts sharing knowledge, the
world would be a better place to live.

3. We started to teach students new skills and created awareness about ongoing issues of
water scarcity.
4. Rain water harvesting is the collection and storage of rain water, rather than allowing it
to run off. Rain water is collected from a roof like surface and redirected to a tank, deep
fit, well, shaft or borehole.
