INDIGENOUS SCIENCE

 Indigenous science is a distinct,


time-tested, and methodological
knowledge system that can
enhance and complement
western science.
 Indigenous science is about the
knowledge of the environment
and knowledge of the
ecosystem that Indigenous
people have.
INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE

 also referred to as Traditional


Knowledge or Traditional
Ecological Knowledge
 is a body of observations, oral
and written knowledge,
innovations, practices, and
beliefs that promote sustainability
and the responsible stewardship
of cultural and natural resources
through relationships between
humans and their landscapes
 It applies to phenomena across
biological, physical, social,
cultural, and spiritual systems.
INDIGENOUS TECHNOLOGY
 Technologies employed by the
native inhabitants of a country
and which constitute an
important part of its cultural
heritage and should therefore be
protected against exploitation
by industrialized countries.
 Indigenous people are the
custodians of indigenous
technology.
