MODULE – I

1. (a) Explain the following signals with one example for each
i) Analog, discrete and digital signals
ii) Even, odd signals

(b) Check the system represented by the following equation for linearity, time invariance and stability

2. (a) State and prove the following properties of convolution sum


i) Associative property
ii) Commutative property

(b) Consider a LTI system with input x(n)=2n u(-n) and unit impulse response h(n)=u(n) given.
Compute and plot the output signal y(n). [BL: Apply| CO: 1|Marks: 7]

MODULE – II

3. (a) With necessary equations & diagrams, develop an algorithm for an 8 point DFT computation using
Radix-2 DIFFFT. [BL: Understand| CO: 2|Marks: 7]
(b) Find the circular convolution of the sequences x1 (n)=1,2,3,1 and x2 (n)=4,3,2,2 using DFT-IDFT

4. (a) Summarize the following properties of DFT


i) Periodicity
ii) Circular time shift

(b) Compute 8 point DFT of the following sequence using DIFFFT algorithm x(n)=1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1

5. (a) Develop the expressions to find the order and cut-off frequency of a Butterworth filter.

(b) Model a Butterworth analog high pass filter that will meet the following specifications.
i) Maximum passband attenuation = 2dB.
ii) Passband edge frequency = 200 rad/sec.
iii) Minimum stopband attenuation = 20dB.

6. (a) Using relevant sketches and equations, demonstrate the mapping from S plane to Z plane using

(b) Design an analog low pass chebyshev filter with the following specifications
i) Acceptable pass band ripple of 2 dB
ii) Cut-off frequency of 1 rad/sec

7. (a) Illustrate the frequency sampling method for FIR filter with neat sketches and equations.
