The students walked to their classrooms. The children played in the park. They
laughed at the joke. The good students then helped Mr. Tom with the books. They asked
him a question about the homework. The good students answered the question. Mr. Tom
shouted at the naughty students. When they finished reading, they looked at the pictures.

He shouted at the naughty students.

Can you tell me the verbs in the passage?
Yes, ma’am. Walked, played, laughed,
helped, shouted, finished.
Very good!

Let’s start our discussion. Our lesson for

today is all about past forms of verbs.

The past form of verbs shows that action

was done in the past.

Example:
-The children played in the park.
-The good students answered the
questions.

We use the simple past to list a series of

completed actions in the past.

Do not forget that time markers are also

used in the simple past tense.

*last year, last Monday, last month, last

March, ago, in 1995, this morning, the day
before yesterday

Example:
I cleaned my room yesterday.
I traced the letters last night.

Verbs are categorized into two. The regular

and irregular verbs. Today we will focus on
the regular verbs.

Regular verbs are verbs that form their

past tense by adding –d or –ed.

Ending in –e: add –d

Arrive-arrived
Like-liked

verb and give its past form?

trip to Manila yesterday.
