Appropriate de-rating factors for continuous operation shall be used according to

ambient and installation conditions.
Design of the medium voltage cables shall be in accordance with the following:
1. Nominal voltage: according to design requirement (3.3, 6.6, 10, 20, 33 kV);
2. Maximal voltage (4, 8, 12, 24, 36 kV);
3. Current frequency 60 Hz;
4. Maximum temperature with full load 90 °C;
5. Allowed short circuit temperature 250 °C;
6. Burying depth in soil: 800 mm, under roadways: 1000 mm.

LV POWER CABLES
The low voltage power cables shall be either standard single or multicore cables with copper
conductor and PVC/XLPE insulation. The minimum conductor cross section of the low voltage
power cables shall be 2.5 mm².
The maximum continuous current carrying capacity and factors for determining such rating
shall be based on IEC and all conditions pertaining to Site. At each voltage level the size of
conductors shall be such that the maximum voltage drop in the cable for both AC and DC
circuits shall be not more than 5% when using full load current, between the main board and
final equipment.
Design of the low voltage cables shall be in accordance with the following:
1. Nominal voltage: 0.75 / 1 kV;
2. Testing voltage 3.5 kV;
3. Current frequency 60 Hz;
4. Maximum temperature with full load 90 °C;
5. Allowed short circuit temperature 250 °C;
6. Burying depth in soil: 800mm, under roadways: 1000mm.

Instrumentation Cables
Instrumentation cable shall be twisted pair with stranded copper conductor and an overall copper
screen. The cables shall be suitable for outdoor use and laying in earth. The cores shall be marked
with imprinted numbers, the core colours shall preferably be white and black per pair.
Cables with 2 pairs, 4 pairs, 5 pairs, 10 pairs and 20 pairs and conductor diameter ≥ 0.75 mm shall
be used preferably.
The cables shall be provided with a min. of 20 % spare conductors.
For common cables not directly connected to field equipment, a solid copper conductor may also
be used. All control cables shall be armoured and screened.
Instrument cables shall be designed in accordance with lEC. For standard service flame retardant
cable and for ESD/fire service fire resistant cable shall be used. Field instruments shall be
terminated with cable glands, in case of installation in a hazardous area (EX), adapted glands and
equipment shall be used.
