SEMI – DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GENERAL BIOLOGY 1

School: SPJ INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY Grade Level: 11 and 12

INSTITUTE INCORPORATED
Teacher: SANDRA P. VIVO Learning Area: General Biology 1

OBJECTIVES
A. Content Differentiate basic features and importance of photosynthesis and
Standard respiration
B.
Performance
Standards
C. Learning  Understand and explains the concept of photosynthesis
Competencies /  Articulate the importance of photosynthesis in the world
Objectives  Expound knowledge on photosynthesis what is it, how is it,
represented and illustrated
 Express appreciation of photosynthesis as essential in sustaining
life
D. LC Code STEM_BIO11/12 IIa-j-10 - 12
I. CONTENT PHOTOSYNTHESIS
II. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References  Virtual Reality presentation, capcut and diorama(showing the
process of photosynthesis)
1. Teacher’s Laptop & Power Point Presentation
Guide
2. Textbook/ SLM-SHS STEM BIOLOGY 1 Quarter 1 -Module 11
III. PROCEDURES
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Daily Routine  Greetings
 Opening Prayer
 Energizer
 Checking of Attendance
2. Reading of the Before we will proceed to our lesson, I have here the SMART house
House Rules rules that I want you to follow which means:
Say please and thank you.
Make friends and be thoughtful.
Arrive on time, prepared and ready to learn.
Respect yourselves and others.
Try your best!

Please don’t forget to be SMART.

3. Motivation 1. A trivia game will be played to pique the students' attention
and determine their prior knowledge of the topic to be
presented where;
 Students will think of any words or terms related to
photosynthesis and;
 The more terms/words they can give the more points they can
gain
1. Let the students ponder on their thoughts and interact with ideas
2. Introduce objectives of tackling the topic
5. Discussion 1. Discuss the importance of learning photosynthesis; How it is essential
for the existence of life on earth and that it is responsible for the
production of oxygen which is vital for survival.

2. Explain where the term "photosynthesis" comes from How it is derived

from the greek word phōs which means light and σύνθεσις which means
combining together t hus photosynthesis refers to
combining together with the help of light

2. Discuss that photosynthesis is a process by which phototrophs

convert light energy into chemical energy which is used to fuel cellular
activities. The following lessons will be included;
• Show the relationship of sunlight, carbon dioxide and water to produce
the food needed by the plants
• Introduce the concept of chloroplast and chlorophyll which plays a big
role in photosynthesizing
• Discuss the reactions of photosynthesis, the chemical formula and the
products yield
• What are the different types of pigment that various plants possessed
• Discuss the two stages that photosynthesis takes place and,
• Determine the factors that influence photosynthesis
5. Application Checking progress.
To check student's understanding, a series of questions will be asked;

1.This means combining together with the help of light.

a. Phototrophs b. Light Energy c. Photosynthesis
2. Chemical energy in photosynthesis is stored in the form of _________.
a. Sugar b. Carbon dioxide water
3.It contains a green pigment called chlorophyll.
a. Chlorophyll b. Carotene c. Chloroplasts
4. The following are the factors affecting photosynthesis
EXCEPT:
a. Temperature b. Density c. Water
5.It is the source of food for plants that provide energy.
a. Lactose b. Glucose c. Sucrose

6. Generalization Students will be asked to observe the provided diorama of

photosynthesis and enable them to repeat important concepts
 Photosynthesis is a process by which phototrophs convert light
energy into chemical energy which is used to fuel cellular
activities.
 Carbon dioxide, water and the help of light is the source of food
for plants
 Chlorophyll that is found in chloroplasts (present in all green
leaves) is responsible for permitting light for conversion of food
 Glucose, sucrose and other sugar molecules are the sugar formed
after which carbon dioxide and water undergo separation
 Oxygen is the by-product of photosynthesis
 Dark reaction and light reaction are two processes of
photosynthesis
 Water, temperature, light intensity, carbon dioxide concentration
and pollution are factors affecting photosynthesis
7. Abstraction Students will be asked to observe the provided diorama of
