37 Case Study 2: 4

Anand and Sri went for walking. Anand observes a bird on a top tree with an angle of elevation A. The
distance between Anand and the tree on the ground is 3 m and height of the tree on which bird is sitting is
4m. At the same time Sri observes another bird on the top of house with angle of elevation B. The
distance between Sri and house on the ground is 5m and height of the house where bird is sitting is 12m.

(i) Find the value of tan (A+B).


(ii) Find the value of sin 3A.
(iii) Find the value of sin (A + B) + sin (A – B).

Two students Anil and Ashima appeared in an examination. The probability that Anil will qualify the
examination is 0.05 and that Ashima will qualify the examination is 0.10. The probability that both will

(ii) Only one of them will qualify the examination.
