Location: Delhi, India (onsite work)
Duration: 4 - 22 weeks
On behalf of the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, we are recruiting 2 - 3 research assistants to work with
us on a study that aims to examine the development of literacy skills in primary grade level children, cross-
language transfer between Hindi and English, and factors associated with the variation in children’s literacy
development. In this randomized-controlled trial study, children will receive exposure to a research-based
literacy programme which will be implemented in select English-medium government schools in Delhi
region. This study is phase 2 of the first pilot which examined the effectiveness of GraphoLearn and
classroom phonics instruction.
Responsibilities
- Conducting reading assessments in English and Hindi, and demographic survey.
- Assisting with set-up of the intervention materials (tablets, headphones, etc.).
- Supervising children during the intervention period.
- Conducting classroom observations (when required).
- Assisting with data compilation and cleaning.
- Support teacher training sessions (when required).
Qualifications
- At least a bachelor’s degree (Education, Psychology, Social Work would be desirable). Master’s degree
students looking for an internship may also apply.
- Prior experience of working with children is desirable.
- Fluency in English and Hindi (spoken and written) required.
