Instructions for safety Instructions indicated here are given to ensure safe and proper use of the product and to protect operators and personnel working around from injury or damage. Possible risks and damages resulting from improper handling of the product are classified to three categories of "Danger", "Waming” and "Caution", Categories of the safety standard and symbols used in the text stand for the following meaning. DANGER: | Improper handling could lead to an accident that cowid result in fatal or severe injury of the operator. Z\warnine: | Improper handling could result in fatal or severe injury of the operator LX caution: | improper handling could result in light or moderate injury of the operator, or damage or destruction of equipment. General 'S-K800S-DAM ‘Type is a remote control valve equipped with a cylinder type drive unit, and operated with compressed air, Operation (See page 2.) ‘This cylinder valve consists largely of the drive unit, joints and valve body. The driving ‘unit composed of a piston, cylinder, spring, and others, is a mechanism to inform changes in the operating air pressure to the valve. The joints are the mechanism to support the valve body and the drive unit. 1) As operating air is introduced into the top of piston, a downward force works against the effective area of piston. 2) Ifthe force overcomes the spring load, the valve body comes down via the rod and the stem so that the fluid flow is shut down. 3) When the operating air pressure decreases and, as a result, the (Spring load + Force to push the valve body upward by the fluid] overcomes the force working over the effective arca of piston, the fluid is allowed to flow. (Refer to the casing saris or the drawing to confirm the flow direction.) «Where flanges are used for installation, make sure to apply torque homogeneously to respective bolts. Should the fluid leak even after tightening bolts to the equal torque, refrain to tighten bolts forcibly because such « problem as distorted piping or other is suspected. (Remove the distortion from the piping first and then install the valve.) - © Where accessories (terminal box, limit switch, or the like) are mounted on the valve, care must be taken not to contact them with other objects during pipe connection Accessories must be protected from any undue stresses. © Select and install the valve at a place where it will not be splashed with water, oil or others. (Excluding waterproof type models) * Donot pull lead wires. © Make sure wires are connected correctly. © Install the valve where there are ample spaces around it. Provision of bypass valves will be helpful for convenience of disassembly and repair operations. © When installing, care must be taken not to exert the stress by piping onto the valve. ‘Any large stress could distort the valve body so that valve will not sit properly on the seat, which could cause leakage from valve. ‘Warning and cantions during operation © Donot operate the valve under nay conditions other than the order specifications. © When starting operations after the initial installation or suspending operations for an extended period of time (one month or more), operate the valve two to three times without load to see if it operates smoothly or not. © Where a manual handle is provided on the valve, make sure to retum the lever to the original position before starting automatic operations. disassembly. LX Caution + Never touch the valve for any purposes other than the adjustment, inspection and 5,3. Troubleshooting Saxe of Tabe Cause Remedy ‘Valve fails to close after introducing operating pressure. Solenoid valve does not operate. When handling toxic or inflammable fluid, make sure no fluid remains in the pipes ‘and the valve. Power supply must be shut down before the work. ® Where equipment, product, or other are highly heated, wait till they cool down. ‘There are risks of bum. “When the temperature is too low, warm it up to the ordinary temperature. 5.5 Disassembly and assembly 5.5 1 Disassembly (Refer to the assembly drawing.) (page 12) L\ Waring Before starting disassembly, confirm that pressures in the pipes at the inlet side and outlet side of the safety valve are at the same level as the atmospheric pressure and also at the ordinary temperature. (@ Remove the operating air pipe and remove the cylinder valve from the pipe. Also remove all accessories. Gi) Loosen the adjusting handle (47) to put the spring in the free condition. Tntroduce the specified operating air pressure in the end and confirm that it cycles the full stroke (Note: Adjust while the valve is opened. Ifthe stem is tumed while the valve is closed, it could damage the valve seat and cause leakage.) 5.13 Adjusting the spring While the fluid pressure is applied, adjust the valve to perform its full strokes, by introducing and discharging the specified operating pressure, If the valve lift fails to reach the lower limit with the operating pressure introduced, it means that the spring is stuck. In such occasion, tur the adjusting handle @) wright 50 as to allow the lift reaching the lower limit. If the valve lift fails to reach the upper limit with the operating pressure discharged, it means the spring load is insufficient. If itis the case, tum the adjusting handle to left so as to allow the lift xeaching the upper limit, Storage ‘The valve must be stored at a place protected from rain. Seal any openings with covers not to contaminate the inside of the valve and accessories with dust, dirt, or others, ‘When storing the valve for a long period of time, make sure to slacken the gland as well, Bofore resuming operations after storing the valve, operate the valve several times without load. (Note: Over-tightened gland could increase the resistance so that the valve may not operate properly. ‘Tighten the gland so much as it will not leak while fluid is actually fed through the valve.) u 7.
