GEAI805 – Public Awareness Campaign Overview

A) Explain what you are doing

Idea:
RESILIENCE HUB: STRESS MANAGEMENT & WELLNESS CENTER

Audience: My audience are NSYSU students who want to improve their stress management and overall
well-being.

Mission Statement
Paragraph 1 (100 words)

Many university students struggle to balance their academic responsibilities

with personal well-being, often leading to stress and burnout. NSYSU offers
many clubs, courses, and buddy groups aimed at engaging in fun activities,
but these do not typically include strategies on how to deal with stress.
Existing solutions, such as time management seminars and online resources,
fail to address the issue adequately because they are too passive and do not
provide practical, interactive experiences. Additionally, these solutions often
include theoretical teachings and courses, which may lack the engaging,
hands-on approaches needed to manage stress effectively.
Why is your suggestion a good idea for solving the problem?

Implementing hands-on workshops designed to improve work-life balance

through practical activities and peer interaction is an effective solution. These
workshops focus on custom techniques and practices tailored to individuals
based on their sources of stress and lifestyle. They offer immersive, engaging
activities that teach stress management techniques, such as mindfulness
exercises and relaxation techniques, and foster supportive social networks.
The workshops also introduce frameworks and practices to combat stress in
various ways, helping students relax, manage their time better, and enhance
their overall well-being by combining educational content with experiential
learning in a supportive environment.

B) Illustrate the need for your idea

For Your Information (YouTube video, website, research article)
You need to find support (references) for your idea. Has it been tried before? What were the
results?

LOOKING AT A TEST CASE:

UC Berkeley's hands-on workshops help students manage stress through
practical activities like mindfulness exercises and peer interaction. These
workshops show marked improvements in students' mental health and
academic productivity, highlighting the effectiveness of structured,
supportive environments.
By promoting hands-on workshops that address the specific needs of NSYSU
students, this campaign can help create a more balanced and supportive
university environment.

THE NEED FOR STRESS

MANAGEMENT IS CLEAR:

This research article examines the effectiveness of group-based cognitive

behavioral therapy (CBT) workshops for reducing stress, anxiety, and
depression in university students. The study demonstrates that these
interactive workshops, where students learn coping mechanisms and practice
relaxation techniques together, significantly improve their mental health
compared to a control group. This finding highlights the positive impact of
interactive workshops in promoting stress management skills and overall
well-being among university students.
