6. Open a new document and type the following

As already mentioned, a word processor is a package that processes textual


matter and creates organized and flawless documents. A word processor has
everything that a conventional typewriter has. In addition to it, a word
processor not only removes all the limitations of typewriters but also offers
useful features that cannot be even dreamt of with typewriter.
Also if same textual matter is to be reproduced with minor changes, retyping
is the only option in typewriters. On the other hand, the same situation can
easily tackle with in word processor using its mail merge feature. Mail
merge feature allows you to combine text and data without requiring any
retyping.
The word processing originated way back in 1964 when special typewriters,
MIST were launched by IBM. These machines were capable of storing
documents on magnetic storage. The stored data could easily be reprinted
when desired. There are two types of memory in computer systems, ROM
and RAM.

Now do the following


i. After the first paragraph insert the following paragraph.
The main components of a word processing system are listed below
and change it to uppercase.
o Computer
o Printer
o A word Processing Software.
ii. Save the document as MyWriter.odt
iii. Move the second paragraph to the end of the document, using drag
& drop feature.
iv. Restore the original status of the document.
v. Now provide a header ‘Working with Word Processor’ in 14 pt.
Bold, Italics and in Times New Roman.

vi. Change the font color of header to red.

vii. Replace the word ‘typewriters’ with ‘word processors’.


viii. Format the above written paragraphs and
give the options as follows: Alignment :

ix. Change left , right , top and bottom page margins from Format->
Page menu
x. Make an auto correct entry for ROM and it should be replaced by
Read Only Memory
xi. Add a Footer. Insert page number from Insert->Fields->page number

IMPRESS

1. Create a Presentation on OPEN-OFFICE PACKAGE that contains details


about Open-Office Writer, Open-office Impress and Open-office Calc
(Spreadsheet) package.

o Create at least 5 slides


o Insert your name in the footer of each slide.
o Slide number and the current date should be displayed on each slide.
o Apply a proper design template to each slide with a proper animation .

2. Create a presentation on the topic “ Different types of Devices”. Create


atleast 6 slides containing details regarding Input Devices, Output Devices
and Storage Devices. Create a custom show of only slides with Input
Devices.
