GRAMMAR: SIMPLE PRESENT


• Quando falamos do nosso dia a dia, devemos fazer uso do tempo verbal Simple Present, que
corresponde ao presente do indicativo da língua portuguesa.
• Utilizado para descrever as coisas, o Simple Present é formado pelo verbo principal na forma-
base, em frases afirmativas, e pelo uso do verbo auxiliar do, em frases negativas e
interrogativas.

QUANDO USAR? Observe os seguintes exemplos:


• Peter has breakfast at work. Peter toma café no trabalho. (hábito, rotina)
• The Earth turns around the sun. A terra gira em torno do sol. (fato, verdade)
• My parents aren’t very tall. Meus pais não são muito altos. (aspecto físico)
• She seems happy today. Ela parece feliz hoje. (estado emocional)
• We don’t go to cinema very often. Nós não vamos ao cinema com muita frequência. (frequência,
rotina, hábito)
• The story begins in Brazil. A história começa no Brasil. (narração, resumo)

because I am dedicated.” Jane’s family has problems but they believe there are solutions and they never give up.
