1. Mention and describe about the various multiple access techniques?

2. Explain any two network architectures which are

3. Explain any two layered architectures other than TCP/IP and OSI/ISO reference model.
4. Data has to be sent through a transmission media. The transmission media carries data that can
be lost by many factors.
a. Explain the two types of transmission media that can be used to send and receive the
data reliably.
b. Identify and describe the transmission impairments introduced by the transmission
media during transmission
c. What are the types of guided media that can be used for data transmission?
d. Define the following terms in wireless Transmission:
i. Wave length
ii. Frequency
iii. Amplitude
5. Any form of Data communication requires the use of LAN and WAN devices. The selection of
these devices depends upon factors such as cost, flexibility and performance. Moreover, there
are several types of WAN connections that can be used for transmitting data.
I. Explain the functions of the following devices and how they perform their task
a) Network Interface Card
b) Switches
c) Routers
d) Access points
II. What is meant by the Ethernet technology?
III. What is a Packet Switching Network?
6. Describe the function of the following command
a) Ping
b) Netstat
c) Traceroute
d) Hostname
e) Ipconfig
7. What are the important parameters that needs to be assigned to a computer in order it get
connected ta network?
a) How can it obtain the above information.
8. Given the IP address 200.10.10.0/24, first subdivide this address into 12 subnets and answer
the following questions.

a) What class is their original network? What is their "natural" subnet mask? (Express this in
dot decimal and slash notation).

b) How many bits has to be borrowed for this subnetting scheme?

c) What is the subnet mask for this subnetwork scheme?

d) What is the maximum number of hosts can each subnet have? How many can be used as
host addresses?
e) List each of the individual subnet (network) addresses in dotted decimal and in binary
(especially the last octet). Make sure to denote ENP (extended network prefix) length.
Subnet bits in blue.

f) List the range of host addresses for the 3rd subnet. Subnet bits in blue, host bits in red.

g) List the broadcast address for the 1st and 3rd subnet (understand the broadcast for all of the
subnets).
