ONGC, a “Maharatna” Public Sector Enterprise, and India’s flagship energy major engaged in Exploration and
Production of Oil and Gas in India and abroad, intends to engage Medical Officers-Emergency / General Duty/ Field
Duty/ Occupational Health/ Homeopathy & Specialists on contract basis at Various work locations of ONGC on a
consolidated honorarium.
Interested and eligible candidates are invited to appear for Interview for engagement on Contract Basis (from the date

Note:
i. None of the posts are reserved for PWBD. However, the post of Contract Medical Officer-General Duty,
Contract Medical Officer – Occupational Health & Contract Medical Officer – Physician are identified as per
categories given in the column 5 of the above table so eligible PWBD candidates may also apply.
ii. ONGC Management reserves the right to change the posting of candidate or even cancel the recruitment
exercise fully/ partially at any stage at its discretion.

iii. The upper age limit for male candidates applying for Contract Medical Officer- Field Duty (Offshore) is 60 years
of age as on 30/06/2026. The upper age limit for female candidates applying for Contract Medical Officer-
Field Duty (Offshore) is 45 years as on last date of application. However, Female employees can be posted to
offshore after attaining 45 years of age subject to medical clearance. For the remaining post(s) there is no
maximum age limit for applying.
iv. The Candidate must possess the essential prescribed qualifications as well as a valid registration with the
concerned statutory authority (wherever applicable) on or before the date of interview. Experience is
desirable for all posts.
v. Nomenclature of qualifications shall be as prescribed by UGC/ Medical Council of India / NCH or State (For
Homeopathy only).
vi. The degree of MBBS / MD / MS should compulsorily be registered with Medical Council of India / State.
vii. Candidates who have acquired MBBS/ MD from a foreign university, such MBBS/ MD or equivalent
qualification in medical discipline shall be allowed which are recognised and approved by Medical Council of
India (MCI).
viii. Where the posts specified in this advertisement are not reserved for any category (ies), a reserved category
candidate can also apply provided he/she fulfills the criteria specified for the post. However he/she shall be
treated at par with Unreserved category candidates.
ix. Candidates seeking reservation under OBC/SC/ST category, shall have to produce a certificate in the
prescribed proforma ONLY, meant for appointment to posts under the Government of India, from the
designated authority indicating clearly the candidate’s caste/community, the Act/Order under which it is
recognized as OBC/SC/ST and the Village/Town the candidate is ordinarily a resident of. They must also ensure
that the name of their caste/community and its spelling in their caste/community certificate should be exactly
as mentioned in the lists notified by the central government from time to time (for OBC category, list of castes
recognized by the Govt. of India as OBC castes in the central list is available on the site http://www.ncbc.nic.in
, for SC category the list of castes for each state is available on the site http://socialjustice.nic.in and for ST

variation in the caste/community name will not be accepted. Further, the OBC certificate should also clearly
indicate that the candidate does not belong to creamy layer as defined by the Government of India for
applying to posts and services under the Central Government and certificate should have been issued on or
after 01.04.2024 by the competent authority.
x. The OBC claim of a candidate will be determined in relation to the State (or part of the State) to which his/her
father originally belongs. A candidate who has migrated from one State (or part of the State) to another
should, therefore, produce an OBC certificate which should have been issued to him/her based on his/her
father’s OBC certificate from the State to which he (father) originally belongs.

xi. Prescribed format of the certificate for OBC/SC/ST/PwBD for employment in government undertaking is down-
loadable from ONGC’s website www.ongcindia.com.
xii. Candidates seeking reservation under EWS will have to submit at the time of registration, an Income and Asset
Certificate issued by a competent authority. The prescribed format and the competent authority have been
given in Department of Personal & Training Office Memorandum No. 36039/1/2019 – Estt (Res) dated
31/01/2019. Further, certificate should have been issued on or after 01.04.2024 by the competent authority.
xiii. Where in any recruitment year any vacancy earmarked for EWS cannot be filled up due to non-availability of a
suitable candidate belonging to EWS, such vacancies for that particular recruitment year shall not be carried
forward to the next recruitment year as backlog.
C. How to Apply
a) Candidates need to visit www.ongcindia.com to register on our Registration web link. The registration site shall
remain open from 14.06.2024 to 23.06.2024
b) Candidates can apply for multiple posts as per their preference in one sector.
c) Only single interview would be conducted for all the posts at different location in a Sector. The details of
locations in a particular sector along with venue of the interview city are provided in Para A
d) Candidate can apply in only one sector and they are strongly advised to submit only one application. In case of
candidates submitting multiple applications, only the last application shall be considered as final for
consideration of candidature.
e) Candidates will be informed about interview with details of date, time and venue etc. through Email.
f) All communications with the candidate shall be through Email.
g) Candidates need to upload Scanned copy of recent passport size color photograph of the candidate with white
background containing signature of the candidate on a small white sheet pasted just below the photograph in
jpg/ jpeg format. (upto 100 kb size)
h) Candidates need to bring the following documents along with Xerox copies at the time of document verification
before the interview:
i. Duly signed and filled application format at Annexure I.
ii. Photo identity proof like PAN Card, Aadhar card, Passport, Driving License. Voter I Card.
iii. Passport size photograph.
iv. Class 10th Board Certificate containing Date of Birth (DOB). No other proof for determining Date of Birth
shall be considered.
v. Consolidated Marksheet of MBBS Degree / BHMS Degree
vi. M.B.B.S. Degree / BHMS Degree.
vii. Degree and marksheets for MD / MS (For posts of Physician, Surgeon, ENT & Ophthalmologist only)
viii. Internship Completion Certificate.
ix. Valid Registration Certificate with the statutory registration Council like MCI or NCH/ State Medical
Council(in case of homeopathy) etc.
x. SC/ST/OBC Caste /EWS Certificate (in case of OBC candidate caste certificate / NCL certificate should be in
central government format)
xi. PwBD Certificate (if applicable). Certificate of benchmark disability should be issued as per the guidelines
of RPwBD Act 2016.
xii. Proof of Higher Qualification (if any) - Mark sheet of all semesters and Degree/ Diploma Certificate.
xiii. Experience Certificate (if any).
xiv. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from existing employer, if any (only in case the candidate is a regular
employee in a Govt. organisation / PSU).
xv. Valid proof of change of name (in case, applicable).

i) Candidates applying for Contract Medical Officer - Homeopathy need to mail the following documents in pdf
format (mentioning their name and name of document) to email id: [email protected] after
completing registration:
i. Consolidated Marksheet of BHMS Degree
ii. BHMS Degree.
iii.Degree and marksheets for MD (Homeopathy), if any
j) Candidates will be required to bring the above documents in original and report for interview as per date, time
and venue intimated. The interviews will be held in-person (physical mode) at the Interview venue of the
respective sector, however depending on situation, candidates may be asked to appear through online method
such as Zoom, Webex, Google Meet, MS Team etc.
k) Candidates may please ensure that they are fulfilling all the requisite criteria prior to applying for the post failing
which, their candidature is liable to be rejected/ cancelled at any stage of the recruitment process or even after
selection.
D. Shortlisting of Candidates for Interview of Contract Medical Officer - Homeopathy: If large number of
candidates apply for Post of Contract Medical Officer - Homeopathy than ONGC may require to shortlist
candidates for personal interview based on their marks in minimum essential qualification and inline higher
qualifications. If situation arises than candidates will be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:10 (i.e. for 1 vacancy, 10
candidates will be called) on the sum total of weightages assigned to minimum essential qualification and
inline higher qualifications as follows:
Weightage of % marks scored in BHMS - 80 (eg. 60% marks in BHMS degree will have weightage of 48 marks)
Marks for having relevant MD degree - 20
Total marks - 100
Bunching – In case there are more than one candidate at minimum cut-off mark, all such candidates will be
shortlisted for interview.
The percentage of marks has to be calculated as per institute / university rules. Candidates have to provide
proof of calculation of percentage in case they are shortlisted for interview. Candidates are also advised to
provide correct information in their online application.
E. Selection Criteria: Following weightages shall be assigned to different parameters in the selection process:
Note:
i. The breakup of 10 marks for such higher qualification shall be considered as follows:
a) Where a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field (M.B.B.S) is the minimum prescribed qualification, 5 marks
shall be given to a Post-Graduation (PG) degree (e.g. MD/MS).
The qualification of PG in Community Health or Medicine/Preventive and Social
Medicine/Occupational Health or Medicine will be eligible for 5 marks in the post Contract Medic

– Occupational Health but the same shall not be eligible for additional 5 marks in the post of
Contract Medics – General Duty / Emergency Duty.
The PG qualification in Anesthesiology/Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy/Family
Medicine/General Medicine/Pediatrics/Palliative Medicine/Pathology/Psychiatry/Radio-Diagnosis
/ Radiology/Tuberculosis and Respiratory diseases/Emergency and Critical care/Ear, Nose and
Throat/General Surgery/Ophthalmology/Orthopedics /Pulmonary and Sleep
disorders/Traumatology & Surgery/Otorhinolaryngology will be eligible for additional 5 marks for
the post of Contract Medic - General Duty / Emergency Duty / Occupational Health. Other
qualifications such as PG in Biochemistry/Forensic Medicine/Microbiology/ Pharmacology/
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation/Physiology will not be eligible for additional 5 marks.
b) Further additional 5 marks shall be given to higher qualification acquired in the relevant field after Post-
Graduation (e.g. M.Ch/ DM).
c) However, where a Post Graduate degree is the minimum essential qualification for example MD / MS
(Ophthalmology) for the post of Contract Medical Officer –Ophthalmology, minimum 60 marks may be
given for the essential qualification. Additional 10 marks shall be given to qualification acquired in the
relevant field after Post-Graduation (e.g. M.Ch/ DM).
ii. The qualifications considered for granting additional marks shall need to be in line for example an MBA in Hospital
Administration shall not be considered as an inline qualifications where M.B.B.S. is the essential qualification.
iii. Qualifying marks in the interview shall be 18 marks for UR/EWS/OBC and 12 marks for SC/ST category.
F. Appointment of selected candidates will be subject to their passing the company’s Medical Examination as
per standards laid down under ONGC Medical Examination of Employees Rules, 1996. Details of the rules are

I. General Instructions:
i. Candidates can apply for multiple posts in a Sector.
ii. Engagement is purely temporary on contract basis for a period up to 30.06.2026. Contract tenure will
commence from the date of joining.
iii. Engagement on contract would be subject to medical fitness.
iv. Candidates Selected for the post of FMO / FMO (Offshore) with on/off pattern shall have to serve the
duty pattern as per the decision of ONGC management.
v. Selected candidates shall be required to sign a contract agreement as per the terms and conditions of
ONGC. The contract shall end on expiry of the prescribed period and no separate notice shall be required
to be given.
vi. The contract can be terminated at any time by giving one month’s notice, by either side.
vii. No claim for regular employment in ONGC, by virtue of this contractual engagement, shall be
entertained at any stage.
viii. Selected candidates will be paid consolidated monthly remuneration as mentioned in Table given in
Section B of this advertisement.
ix. On successful completion of one year period an annual increase at following rates may be considered:

x. Contract Medical Officer- Field Duty posted in On/ Off pattern are eligible for payment of two way air
fare in economy/ premier- economy class in shortest route from family/ operating station to work
centre. Doctors posted ONGC Drilling/Production installations are eligible for free boarding and lodging
while on duty. This is in addition to remuneration.
xi. Twelve days Casual Leave will be granted in a calendar year on a pro-rata basis. One casual leave will be
allowed for a month. Doctors performing duty on On/Off pattern will not allowed any leave except
National holidays. Maternity leave will be granted to female doctors as per Maternity Benefit
Amendment Act, subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions laid down in the Act.
xii. Candidature/contract of candidate(s) submitting false certificates or suppression/ submission of
incorrect information shall be liable for termination/ disqualification/ rejection at any stage.
xiii. Only Indian nationals need apply.
xiv. No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the interview.
xv. Interested candidates fulfilling the above conditions will have to appear for an interview (physical /
online). Candidates shall be intimated the date and time of interview through Email.
xvi. The selected candidates shall be posted at location for which they have been selected. However the
decision of ONGC shall be final in this regard.

J. Medical Facilities:
a) In-house OPD facility in respect of self, spouse and two immediate dependents i.e. children and/ or
parents. However, outside reference for medicine/ consultation shall not be permissible.
b) Family floater cover of ₹ 7.5 lakhs for indoor treatment in respect of self, spouse and two immediate
dependents i.e. children and/ or parents.
