Hello Everyone!
In this video, you will learn about
Computer networks, Its usage and goals.
A computer network is a set of computers or electronic
devices connected together. A computer, printer, PlayStation, mobile can be part of network. We can find wired or wireless networks around us. It can be standalone or connected to Internet through a router.
You can use computer networks, for various purposes. Let’s
understand its usage. An important use of computer network is file sharing between two or more than two users. you can observe it, when you share files using Internet. It can also be used for device sharing such as printers for reducing the cost of hardware. Computer network are also used for electronic communication such as e-mails, video conferencing or audio conferencing. Computer Networks have many more usage other than these, which will be discussed during the course.
Now, Let’s discuss goals of any computer network. The first
goal of networking is "Resource sharing", for making software, data and equipment available to anyone on the network without regard to the physical location of the resources and the user.
Another goal of computer networks is reliability! Networks
provide reliability by making alternative sources of supply available. For example, all files could be replicated on two or more servers, so if one of them gets failed, other may provide backup and be available for use.
Allowing remote communication is another goal of
computer networks. Network users, located geographically apart, may communicate in an interactive session via networks using an almost error free remote communication.
Networks are also supposed to enable flexible access. You
can connect to your office or friend while sitting in your home garden or, attend your office meeting from anywhere.
