Frequently Asked Questions V1.

Following text contains 5 most frequently asked questions.

1) Quotation tool
To get a quote, I kindly invite you to register on our web site GET A QUOTE. There you can select the
motor and accessories. After you send us an inquiry by using this configurator, you will receive an
automatic Quotation on your mail. You can also REQUEST PROFORMA INVOICE (by clicking on the link
in the automatic email), where shipping costs will also be included. Order is placed once the advanced
payment according to Proforma is received. Wire transfer is required. Dispatch date is up to 16 weeks
after receiving advanced payment on our account.

2) Voltage
To better understand how voltage corelates with performance of the motor please use equations
below and data from datasheet.
Maximum voltage tested for safe operation is 833V for all our motors.
In datasheets is defined minimum voltage required for peak power without field weakening. It is
stated in VDC units. (DC current is transformed in ESC to AC which runs the motor).
Best/most efficient voltage for your application depends on your rpm, torque, load cycle targets.
In some older datasheets we had defined recommended/nominal/design voltage as voltage required
for continuous operation of the motor.

3) Production capabilities
Our current production capabilities are up to 150 motors per month. Typical customer is smaller niche
company but we also have few slightly bigger customers with 100-300 motors per year. At maximum
productivity we can produce up to 500 motors per single customer by the end of 2025.
Emrax is targeting niche products like sports/leisure/recreational vehicles (cars, boats, aeroplanes)
and some special heavy/agricultural/industrial machinery aswell. Our plan is to increase production
capabilities threefold by the end of 2026, mainly to grow with demand in those niche markets. We do
not plan for mass production in near future.

4) Recommended controllers
We only make motors, but I can recommend some controllers that work well with our motors.
Attached is a list of recommended controllers.
We have very good experience with DTI, they offer high quality Plug and Play controllers with user
friendly interface (setups for all Emrax standard motors included). I am sure they would be happy to
help you.

5) Cooling explanation
Liquid cooled motor
Stator of the motor is cooled with liquid. Liquid (usually Water or water-glycol mixture) should be
pumped at flow rate at least 6 L/min and kept under 50°C inlet temperature to be able to achieve
continuous performance as stated in datasheets. Inlet pressure should never exceed 2 bar g.
Around 2/3 of heat dissipates through liquid. Rotor with the magnets also generates some heat
therefore about 1/3 of the heat should be dissipated through rotor to achieve required performance.
Rotor and Stator are sealed and achieve IP66.
Ambient temperature should never exceed 60°C. The opening for the entry and exit of air flow should
never be obstructed or reduced by conductors, pipes, or other objects. The place of installation should
allow for air renewal at a rate of 0,4 m3/min for each 1 kw of motor power (please ensure that the
ambient temperature of surrounding air remains stable during motor operation).
Motor temperature should never exceed 120 °C and is recommended to stay below 100°C over
majoriti of its operation cycle.
Air cooled motor
Air coled motor is only appropriate for applications where cold ambient air (<20°C) with high air speed
(>20 m/s) can be induced to cool the stator and the rotor. There are holes made through the rotor and
stator through which air circulates and cools down the motor. Consequently, motor achieves IP21.
Rain or splashing water won't do any harm to the motor if will just go through the rotor and probabily
evaporate due to increased temperature, it may even improve cooling a bit.
Combined cooled motor
Is a combination of both motors. Where stator is liquid cooled but in this case rotor is not sealed and
alows ambient air to aditionaly cool down the stator and rotor hence the beter continuous
performance. But if you are not able to induce high speed cold air cooling than diference between CC
and LC would be minimal.
