Hotels

KUALA LUMPUR
👉 * Apartment Hotel we stayed We really loved this place, for its space, views of the city and
especially roof top pool. It’s location is ok. Price seems to have gone up since we were there. There is a
train right outside that goes direct to Bukit Bintang but other areas are a little cut o so Grab is best
your bet for those.

👉 * Alternate Apartment we stayed If you like walking a little, this is a great location as its half way
between Chinatown and Bukit Bintang, and the street food road, which we would all walk to most
days, about 15 minutes each direction. Good price for location. There was a smell in our room which
was our main issue, but looking at reviews now, it hasn’t come up for 6 months plus so I’m assuming
this isn’t an issue anymore. Had a good pool also.

👉 * Great Hotel in Bukit Bintang Right in the action of Bukit Bintang, great reviews, we almost
stayed here.

👉 * Top End Hotel Right near the Petronas Towers, amazing pool, great reviews, breathtaking views.

CAMERON HIGHLANDS
👉 * Hotel we stayed This was a nice mid range place, the room and sta were good, nothing mind
blowing. But it’s location was great for walking into the main small town and being super central for
pickup for day trips to other places. Good price.

👉 * Old English Style hotel we stopped at (its shown in the video for a few seconds). Nice old
English vibes, between the 2 main towns in the area.

LANGKAWI
👉 * Hotel we stayed at Haha, as mentioned in the video, this had its positives and negatives. We
really liked its location for getting around. It’s almost a half hour drive from most things. You can
walk from the airport, taxis are always around because of this (there’s no real public transport), pool
was good, sta and room were good. Style wise, it was a bit odd and the breakfast was meh. It’s
received well so maybe it’s just me!

👉 * Wild Card Villa We almost stayed here. It’s in the centre of the island, surrounded by nature.
Looks lovely, good price.

👉 * Five Star WOW This is where they lmed Crazy Rich Asians when they go on the Hen and
Stag parties! It’s expensive but if you can a ord…

👉 * Another Wow A couple who were on our day trip stayed here and we liked the look when our
tour stopped to pick them up.

PENANG
👉 * Where we Stayed As mentioned in the video, we loved it here. The breakfast was great and the
pool view lovely also. The hotel felt very chilled, the sta were excellent, and there was just a great
vibe about it. About a 10 minute walk to the town centre.

👉 * The Blue Mansion You can stay at this hotel, which we loved being shown around.

👉 * Colonial Hotel Looks great from the reviews and photos.

👉 * Modern Chic Hotel We almost booked here. Looks really cool in the photos and well reviewed.

👉 * Wild Card by Waters Edge Top end hotel that looks awesome.

All Notable Attractions, Restaurants, Cafes, Tours

KUALA LUMPUR
👉 Petronas Towers Google Maps The iconic landmark of the city. O cial tickets below.

👉 O cial Tickets for Petronas Towers If you’re booking a week out, you should be able to get
tickets from here to go up the tower. Otherwise there are…

👉 * Alternative Petronas Tower Tickets If you can’t get tickets through the o cial site, you can
sometimes nd alternative availability here.

👉 Cocktail Bar near Towers Great bar we visited for views of the city and Towers. You can reserve
through here and it was the Rooftop Bar we visited but there are other options also. It doesn’t seem
to mention a dress code on the site, but maybe double check if booking.

👉 Restaurant inside Petronas Towers I would have talked about this place more in the video as it
gives access to the Tower Bridge for free essentially, but I didn’t nd them very good at
communication for bookings so I didn’t want to recommend them too much in case the video sends
lots of people their way and it causes issues for everyone. So be aware of some caveats here. They are
normally a members only place but they do allow public bookings (we weren’t members), so if you
email them on their site you can check availability, or get your hotel to call. Other caveats: It is a
strict dress code which for us was proper shoes, trousers, shirt, etc. Apart from this, it is a great way
to eat with fantastic views and to see the Bridge of the Towers.

👉 Batu Caves Great stop when in KL. It’s about an hour outside of the city. Taken by taxi or public
transport, otherwise there is…

👉 * Batu Caves Guided Tour 3.5 hour tour, pickup from KL, guided tour of the Batu Caves. See the
bottom of this Kuala Lumpur section for more tours that includes the Batu Caves…

👉 National Mosque of Malaysia Mosque to visit. Check their opening times as sometimes it is
closed for tourists.

👉 Thean Hou Temple Buddhist Temple.

👉 Kwai Chai Hong Great street art area in Chinatown. Free to walk around.

👉 Mingle Cafe Good brunch spot. The following ones are just places we visited and enjoyed. None
are essential unless I’m gushing in the description!

👉 Sunbather Co ee Good co ee and sandwich place.

👉 Malaya Garden Really good brunch place, lots of local food dishes but with a modern vibe.

👉 Da Bao Really cool Chinese Bao restaurant

👉 Leaf & Co Cafe Another good brunch spot

👉 Bröom At Bukit Bintang Stylish co ee and cake place

👉 Three Years Old Cafe Another trendy co ee pastry place (these last 2 were near our hotel)

👉 BAAN26 Thai Seafood Restaurant & Bar Thai restaurant which was really good. This street has a
bunch of bars and dining options so check out this area in general. Busy street.

👉 Congkak Really good Malaysian restaurant, modern twist

👉 Eden Co ee Rooftop Cafe Awesome views from this rooftop co ee shop. We just had a co ee
and cake but the rooftop sold it. Getting there is tricky so: go inside the Lot 10 building, take the
elevator to the 8th oor, turn right, walk the path round, and you are outside. It is across the garden
on the left as you are going straight.

👉 BookXcess RexKL The bookshop in Chinatown. Cool vibes.

👉 Central Market Good little independent traders indoor market

👉 Petaling Street Market Traditional Chinatown market

👉 The National Museum of Malaysia Not an essential stop but if you are curious about the
countries history, its only a dollar…

👉 Perdana Botanical Garden Not shown in the video but a few minutes walk from the museum. It
also has Carcosa Seri Negara where Crazy Rich Asians was lmed, the house party scene I believe.

👉 KL Forest Eco Park I’ve linked the more accurate entry place here since Google Maps sends you
to the wrong place. Good to walk around for an hour or so. Reached going from the Tower.

👉 KL Tower (Menara) Another tower with observation deck, some people prefer this one. It seems
to be easier to get a ticket, we just walked up

👉 Jalan Alor Food Street The most popular street food area in Bukit Bintang

👉 Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Good shopping Mall. There’s also the The Starhill just opposite we liked.

👉 Saloma Link Popular view point for photos of the Petronas Tower

👉 * Amazing Fire ies Tour from KL I couldn’t show this in this video since it was literally pitch
black but Chiakis favourite thing we did was this. They take you to this river where you are
surrounded by re ies. You’re on a row boat and its very magical with the re ies lighting up around
you. Very unique and special. We liked this one as it was quieter than another one we did in the area.

👉 * Alternative Firelies and Batu Caves Tour This is an alternative tour that does the Batu Caves
also. I’m not sure which area they go to for the re ies but it’s a good combo with the 2 locations.

CAMERON HIGHLANDS
👉 * Cameron Highlands Day Trip from KL If you want to make the most of your time, this is the
best day trip from your hotel in KL to Cameron Highlands. It’s obviously a lot to pack into a single
day so it will be a little rushed, but it’s the best/easiest way to experience Cameron without changing
hotels, getting a car/bus, etc

👉 * Mossy Forest & Tea Guided Tour 5 hour tour - includes hotel pickup from a Cameron Highlands
Hotel, Mossy Forest, BOH Tea Plantation, Butter y Farm, Strawberry Farm

👉 Lata Iskandar Waterfall Tapah If you’re driving from KL, a popular stop for waterfalls

👉 Tea House we stopped at This is where we stopped for tea and scones, and wandered the tea area,
which wasn’t expensive and on the way. There’s a little shop here too. Perfect if you don’t have time
for the other one we visited. Quite busy though.

👉 Tanah Rata Most populated town in Cameron Highlands.

👉 Mossy Forest It is recommended you have a guide to go here. If you are driving, you need a 4x4 as
the roads can be a little crazy.

👉 BOH Tea Plantation The 2nd tea planation we visited. There’s a much larger cafe area here, they
also do short tours about the production

👉 Butter y Farm We only went here as it was included on our tour, above. I wouldn’t go out of your
way otherwise.

LANGKAWI
👉 * Kilim Geoforest Day Trip Our favourite Day trip of all of Malaysia. De nitely check this one out.
Includes pickup, good lunch, knowledgeable guide, boat around caves, beaches, eagle spotting.

👉 Pantai Cenang Most popular beach area in Langkawi. There’s also the road that runs parallel. Full
of restaurants, shops, bars and beach activities.

👉 Kedawang Night Market As mentioned in the video, they have a di erent location each night so
best to speak with your hotel about which is the one close to you, depending on the day. This was close
to our hotel (linked on the top pages of this PDF) and it was the Tuesday Market and most local of the
2 we went to but good because of that.

👉 Kuah Night Market One of the more popular night markets, held Wednesday and Saturday

👉 Eagle Square Nice for a walk to see the Eagle at night or during the day

👉 Orinetal Village The Oriental Village is the entrance to everything else here including the Sky
Bridge and Gondolas

👉 * Cable Car and Sky Bridge Combo Ticket This is the combo ticket we got. Includes the Sky
Bridge, cable car up to it, the 3D Art museum, a dinosaur simulator ride and some other stu . You can
customise the ticket when purchasing for add ons, but they aren’t essential. We chose the standard
Gondola, non express lane, and the Sky Bridge with Sky Glide. To break down the options, Express
lane skips the rst queue for the gondola, if you don’t want the possibility of a wait, and the Sky Glide
saves you about a ten minute steep walk up and down hill to get to the Sky Bridge. I’d only suggest the
Glide if you have trouble walking, otherwise its quicker to walk since there was a queue for the Glide
due to its small capacity.

👉 Yellow Gardens Cafe Nice co ee shop with cakes!

👉 Massage Spa I had an amazing massage here but the reviews seem to be hit and miss so maybe I
was lucky but it worked for me!

👉 Seafood Restaurant Nice seafood restaurant we went to

GEORGE TOWN, PENANG
👉 Chulia Street Hawker Food Food street with lots of markets and shooting o streets for walking

👉 Great Malaysian restaurant Probably our favourite restaurant while we were here

👉 Tan Jetty Picturesque jetty that walks out into the water

👉 O cial Street Art Map PDF with all the stops around town for street art

👉 The Blue Mansion We loved this for its guided tour, but maybe we were super lucky getting one
of the owners. Tours take place at 11 and 3:30. You can pre book through their site but we just
walked up with no issues.

👉 Good restaurant Another place we enjoyed lots. Good menu options.

👉 Nice Cafe Nice tea and pastries

👉 Penang Hill One thing I didn’t show in the video. It’s a popular attraction in Penang with great
views over the island. We took a taxi there but the wait times were like over 2 Horus so we gave up.
We did go on a Saturday late morning so probably best to go early morning.

Have a great trip!
