INTRODUCTION
T ime is one of humankind's
unanswerable mysteries.
Aristotle called time "the
most unknown of unknown things." What time is and even if it
objectively exists are unanswerable questions. Time is
intangible. There have been and will be countless theories about
time. Many, including in science, are simply useful definitions
or conventions, and each is looking at time in a particular way
and for a particular purpose. This short text looks at a variety of
significant perspectives from physics, philosophy and
psychology. A key is to demonstrate that there are many
different incomplete and subjective ways of looking at what
ultimately is beyond our mental grasp. Debate and additional
perspectives and theories are welcome.
Humans have common, everyday ideas about time. These
include that time is real and objective, time continually ticks
away at an even rate and is the same for everyone everywhere,
time flows linearly from the past to the present to the future,
and that only the experienced present 'now' is real with the past
and future being unreal. Most of these ideas are accepted as
facts as obvious as the sky is blue and water is wet. However,
close examination brings many of these ideas into question.
Cultural perceptions of time differ, physics has shown that time
and space can act counter to our intuition, and biology and
philosophy reveal many paradoxes about time.
There are a few ideas about time that are largely agreed upon
by most philosophers and scientists. Scientists and philosophers
agree and define that time requires change. Time may simply be
an innate abstract way for humans to understand and mark
5
# Who control your time #
change. If there is no change there is no time. If it is only now,
there is no time. It is when now becomes the past and there is a
new now that there is the change that defines time.
There is general agreement amongst philosophers and scientists
that time is continuous. Meaning we do not experience it
darting about or starting and stopping randomly. In our
universe, time also appears to have an intrinsic direction from
past to present to future, called the arrow of time. I believe that
by the time you finish reading this book, you will have
complete control over your time.

Chapter 1
Time is the master of storyteller
Everyone wants to control Time but the Master of the
Time, is the real deal. The season come and go. Time gives to
every man the right reward his consequence for his many deeds.
Time is really the master storyteller. Indeed, time possesses a
remarkable ability to weave intricate narratives and shape our
understanding of the world. As the master storyteller, time
crafts captivating tales through its relentless progression and the
evolving nature of events. It unveils moments of triumph,
sorrow, growth, and change, embellishing our experiences with
a rich tapestry of memories and histories.
One of the most intriguing aspects of time as a storyteller
is its ability to lend perspective. With the passage of time,
events acquire new meanings, and their significance may shift.
Time allows for reflection and interpretation, enabling us to
gain deeper insights into personal and collective narratives. It
shapes our perception and understanding of the past, present,
and future, molding our identities and influencing our
decisions.
Moreover, time serves as both the protagonist and
antagonist in the narratives it crafts. It can nurture dreams and
ambitions, offering opportunities for growth and achievement.
Yet, it can also be a formidable adversary, imposing
constraints, limitations, and obstacles along the way. The
relentless ticking of the clock creates a sense of urgency, urging
us to make the most of fleeting moments.
Time's influence extends beyond individual stories, as it
weaves together the intricate threads of history. It chronicles the
7
# Who control your time #
rise and fall of civilizations, shaping cultures, societies, and the
world at large. From ancient tales passed down through
generations to contemporary accounts of pivotal events, time
provides the context in which these stories unfold.
In addition to its narrative prowess, time carries profound
symbolic meaning. It represents the ebb and flow of seasons,
the cycles of birth and death, and the rhythms of life. It reminds
us of the inevitability of change and the transient nature of
existence. Through its passing, time gives our stories a sense of
urgency, compelling us to appreciate the present moment and
make every second count.time truly is a perfect storyteller,
shaping our experiences, memories, and understanding of the
world. It chronicles the narratives of individuals, societies, and
civilizations, imbuing them with significance, perspective, and
meaning. By acknowledging time's narrative influence, we can
embrace the fleeting nature of our existence and craft our own
stories with intention and purpose.
Understanding the concept of time perception
Understanding the concept of time perception is crucial
when it comes to mastering the art of time management. Time
perception refers to how we perceive the passage of time and
can vary greatly from person to person. Have you ever noticed
how time seems to fly when you're engaged in an enjoyable
activity, while it drags on when you're bored or waiting for
something?
Our perception of time is influenced by various factors,
including our emotions, attention, and external stimuli. For
8
# Who control your time #
example, when we're fully immersed in a task we enjoy, our
focus narrows, and we enter a state of flow where time seems to
effortlessly slip away. On the other hand, when we're bored or
distracted, every minute feels like an eternity.
Understanding these nuances in time perception allows
us to optimize our time management strategies. By identifying
the activities that make time fly and those that make it crawl,
we can prioritize tasks accordingly. For instance, if you know
that you tend to lose track of time while working on a particular
project, allocate more time for it in your schedule.
Moreover, being aware of external factors that influence
our perception of time can help us make better decisions about
our environment. For example, minimizing distractions and
creating a conducive workspace can enhance focus and
productivity, ultimately making time appear to pass more
quickly.
In conclusion, time perception is a fascinating aspect of
our human experience. By understanding how it affects our
perception of time, we can make conscious choices to optimize
our time management skills. So, take the time to explore and
experiment with different strategies that align with your unique
perception of time, and unlock the secrets to effective time
management.

Chapter 2
Who control your time?
Time plays the most important role in life. It is the most
wonderful and practical thing. It has no beginning and no end.
All things are born on time, grown on time and die on time.
You cannot have command on time, nor can you analyze and
criticize it. It is very crucial that you understand the value of
time and manage it effectively; otherwise, time can create an
enormous impact on your life. You need to comprehend and
regard the value of time by not wasting it.
Time is the most valuable thing in life. It has no
beginning and no end. It can neither be created nor be
destroyed. Time is the only dimension in which we all live in
our lives, and it affects everything that we do, from a flower's
growing cycle to the destruction of empires. Time is so
important, in fact, that if you did not have any, you could not do
anything at all. There are many things that we can do with our
time: We can spend it on leisure activities, such as sleeping,
watching TV, reading or going for a walk; on work or study; on
raising a family; or on helping others. No matter what we
choose to do, it is important that we manage our time and make
the most of it. Time is a valuable thing when we are in school.
A flower can be planted anytime during the year, but if
you want it to grow into a beautiful plant with colorful petals,
then you must provide it with enough sunlight, water, and soil.
You cannot tell time to wait for your instructions; thus, you
must use time in the most efficient way possible to get things
done. It is the same with our lives. We have a limited amount of
time on earth, and we need to spend it wisely if we want to
10
# Who control your time #
accomplish our goals and dreams. There are many ways that we
can misuse our time. One of the most common is by
procrastinating. Procrastination is the act of putting off action
until a later time when it could have been done much more
efficiently if you had just done it in the first place.
Time has an Effect Everywhere in Your Life
Use of time reflects your priorities. It shows what is
important to you. For example, if you are always late for
meetings or appointments, then people may assume that you do
not value them or their time. However, if you are usually well
prepared and arrive early for meetings, then your colleagues
will know that they can rely on you to get things done in a
timely manner. Time is very much crucial to every person in
the world. You have wasted time in the past, so do not get
frustrated if you are not able to manage your time perfectly. The
important thing is to learn from your mistakes and use that
knowledge to help you become more efficient with your time in
the future!
Indeed, time is a fundamental aspect of life that
influences various aspects of our existence. Its effect can be
observed in various domains, ranging from biological processes
and aging to societal transformations and historical events. In
the realm of biology, time plays a central role in the processes
of growth, development, and decay. Organisms go through
various stages of life, such as infancy, childhood, adolescence,
adulthood, and old age, all of which are defined by the passage
of time. Time also impacts the aging process, as it brings about
physiological changes at the cellular level, leading to the
gradual decline of bodily functions.
Furthermore, time has a profound impact on the natural
world, shaping environment and Community processes. For
11
# Who control your time #
instance, seasonal changes dictate the behavior and
reproduction patterns of many species. The migration of birds
or the blooming of flowers are examples of biological events
that are synchronized with the passage of time. In the realm of
human societies, time has profound implications as well.
Historical events are recorded and understood through the lens
of time. The rise and fall of civilizations, the progression of
societies, and the evolution of cultures are all essentially linked
to the continuum of time. Moreover, our daily lives are
structured around time, as schedules, routines, and deadlines
impose an order and rhythm upon our activities.
Time also influences our perspective on the world and
our ability to plan for the future. The concept of time allows us
to measure and quantify the duration of events, enabling us to
make predictions, set goals, and allocate resources accordingly.
It is through this understanding of time that we can reflect on
the past, live in the present, and shape our aspirations for the
future.
In summary, time permeates every facet of life, from the
biological to the social, and from the personal to the cosmic. It
governs the cycles of existence, marks historical milestones,
and shapes our perception of the world. Understanding the
effect of time is crucial for comprehending the complexity of
life itself.

Chapter 3
Anyone who can control his emotions can
control his time
Talking about how your emotions can control your time,
sometime In 2015, i remembered meeting a lady who was a
student of Ekiti state University who traveled down from Ekiti
state to Oyo State for a Church Easter camp. We hit it off after
some conversations, and I discovered that she came from a
clergy family, with her father being a pastor. I introduced her to
my friends, Dare and Michael, who were aware of my feelings
for her. After the camp, we decided to start a relationship, and
we continued to date even after she returned to school.
Months later, my friend Dare told me that my girlfriend
had been chatting him up and confessing her feelings for him.
Initially, I was shocked and angry, but I quickly gathered
myself. I knew that my girlfriend was mine and I wasn't going
to let anyone take her away from me. Our friend Michael
suggested that Dare should play along and catch her in the act. I
was confident that my girlfriend wouldn't betray me and I was
willing to take the risk. Later, when my girlfriend asked me for
money to buy a textbook and mentioned that she wasn't feeling
well, I didn't hesitate to send her the money. It wasn't until later
that I realized she had planned to visit Dare in Ibadan the next
day. But even then, I remained confident that my girlfriend
would never cheat on me.
Later that morning, my friend called to tell me that my
girlfriend was on her way to Ibadan. He mentioned that she
specifically asked him not to tell me about her coming.
Knowing that something was amiss, I promptly requested my
13
# Who control your time #
friend to keep me in the loop. Soon after, my friend called again
to inform me that my girlfriend was with him. I was surprised,
to say the least, and decided to bring Michael, our third friend,
along with me to meet them. Upon reaching my friend's place, I
found my girlfriend in his room with him. I confronted her
about her surprise visit and asked why she had lied about not
feeling well and needing to buy a textbook. It was then that I
realized my friend had been honest about my girlfriend's
behavior. I was furious, but remained calm and expected her to
apologize, which she didn't.
But no, she decided to act as if there was nothing wrong
with what she had done. At this point, I couldn't control my
emotions anymore and I decided to excuse myself from the
room she ran after me wanting to grab me but I dodged then
she fell and sprained her wrist and shouted in pain causing his
neighbor to check on us.
They might have thought that we attempted to rape her,
and but immediately she responded to them that she slipped and
sprained her wrist. I find myself wondering how I will express
myself if she hadn't explained the situation herself we could've
been charged for assault or sexual harassment.
Our emotional state can indeed have a significant impact
on how we manage our time. When we are experiencing strong
emotions such as stress, anxiety, or overwhelm, it can be
challenging to stay focused and productive. We may find
ourselves easily distracted, procrastinating, or struggling to
make decisions. On the other hand, when we are in a positive
emotional state, such as feeling motivated, calm, or inspired, we
are more likely to be effective in managing our time. We can
approach tasks with clarity, make decisions more efficiently,
and maintain a higher level of concentration and productivity.
14
# Who control your time #
Therefore, it is important to be aware of our emotions
and take steps to manage them effectively. This can include
practicing stress management techniques, such as deep
breathing exercises or mindfulness, taking regular breaks to
recharge, and engaging in activities that bring us joy and
relaxation.
How to maintain a higher level of
Concentration and productivity of our time
Maintaining a higher level of concentration and
productivity can be challenging, but with some strategies and
techniques, it is possible to improve and sustain your focus.
Here are some tips to help you:
Create a conducive environment: Minimize
distractions by finding a quiet and organized
workspace. Remove any potential interruptions,
such as turning off notifications on your phone or
computer.
Plan and prioritize: Start your day by creating a to-
do list or a schedule. Identify your most important
tasks and allocate specific time slots for them.
Prioritize your work and focus on one task at a
time.
Eliminate multitasking: Contrary to popular belief,
multitasking can decrease productivity and
concentration. Instead, focus on one task at a time
and give it your full attention. Once completed,
move on to the next task.
Take regular breaks: Taking short breaks
throughout the day can help refresh your mind and
maintain concentration. Use this time to stretch,
meditate, or engage in activities that relax you.
15
# Who control your time #
Avoid spending break time on social media or
other distractions that may hinder productivity.
Practice mindfulness and meditation: Regular
mindfulness and meditation exercises can improve
your ability to concentrate and reduce distractions.
These practices train your mind to stay focused on
the present moment.
Establish a routine: Develop a consistent daily
routine that includes specific times for work,
breaks, exercise, and relaxation. Having a
structured routine can help your mind and body get
into a productive mindset.
Get enough sleep: Lack of sleep can significantly
impact your concentration and productivity. Aim
for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to ensure
your mind is well-rested and ready to focus.
Stay physically active: Regular exercise not only
benefits your physical health but also improves
cognitive function and concentration. Incorporate
some form of physical activity into your daily
routine to enhance your productivity.
Remember, maintaining a high level of concentration and
productivity requires practice and discipline. Experiment with
these strategies to find what works best for you and make
adjustments as needed.
These are 3keys point in other not to allow our
emotions to drive our time
1. Avoid unnecessary and necessary anger: To
avoid unnecessary anger, it is crucial to cultivate
self-awareness and emotional intelligence. By
understanding our own triggers, we can
16
# Who control your time #
proactively work on managing our emotions and
responses. This involves practicing mindfulness,
deep breathing, and taking a moment to pause
before reacting impulsively. It is important to
remember that while we cannot control external
events, we can control our reactions to them.
2. Don't make a wrong decision: think before you
make any decision of anything in your life, Life
provides many ways, options, and alternatives.
Pluralities of options confuse us. The outcome of
life depends on the ways or path of life that we
choose. We should always make the right or
judicious choice. A wrong choice makes all the
difference in life. It leads to unpleasant results and
disastrous consequences. Bad decision affects
one’s life badly. Actually our success depends on
the decision which we take at present. If our
decision is wrong, we have to repent for it because
it ruins the countless happy moments of life. Our
failure creates disappointment and we forget the
essence of life. In a sense, it can be said that one
bad decision spoils our life.
3. Stop compare yourself with someone else: To
much of comparison leads to unhappiness and low
self-esteem, we become frustrated with ourselves
for not being good enough or angry with others.
Something like " you see another woman working
down the street and think I wish I were pretty as
her"

Chapter4
How social media waste our time
Social media has indeed become a prevalent source of
entertainment and connectivity in today's world.
While it has its benefits, it can also inadvertently
waste a significant amount of our time if used in
excessive or unproductive ways. There are several
reasons why social media can be a time-consuming
platform:
Endless scrolling: Social media platforms are
designed to be addictive. The constant stream
of content, such as news feeds, timelines, and
suggested posts, can keep users engaged for
hours on end. There is always something new
to discover, leading to mindless scrolling that
consumes a substantial part of our day.
Notifications and interruptions: Social media
platforms bombard us with notifications,
updates, and messages, creating a constant
need to check our profiles or respond to
interactions. These interruptions can disrupt
productivity, diverting our attention from
important tasks and responsibilities.
Comparison and self-esteem: Social media
often presents an idealized version of people's
18
# Who control your time #
lives, highlighting their achievements,
vacations, relationships, and other positive
experiences. Constant exposure to such content
can lead to social comparison and lowered self-
esteem, as individuals may feel inadequate or
like they are missing out. This can prolong
time spent on social media, as we seek
validation and affirmation from others.
FOMO (Fear of Missing Out): Social media
platforms frequently showcase events and
activities happening around us. Seeing others
attending parties, traveling, or engaging in
exciting experiences can trigger FOMO, which
compels us to spend more time on social media
as a way to feel connected and stay up to date.
Procrastination: The easily accessible nature of
social media makes it a common tool for
procrastination. When faced with tasks or
responsibilities that require effort and focus,
we may find ourselves seeking temporary relief
by scrolling through our social media feeds
instead.
To manage the potential time-wasting effects of
social media, it is important to practice self-
awareness and self-discipline. Setting specific
time limits, creating technology-free zones, and
prioritizing tasks can help us regain control over
our time. Additionally, engaging in meaningful
offline activities, hobbies, and face-to-face
interactions can enrich our lives and reduce our
dependence on social media.
Free your mind from negativity
19
# Who control your time #
Freeing your mind from negative thoughts and
emotions is a goal that many people strive for to
enhance their well-being and overall happiness.
Here are some strategies to achieve that:
Mindfulness and meditation: Practice
being present in the current moment,
observing your thoughts without judgment.
Meditation can help you develop a calmer,
more focused mind and detach from
negative thinking patterns.
Recognize negative thoughts: Become
aware of negative thoughts as they arise.
Acknowledge their presence without getting
absorbed in them. Remember that thoughts
are not facts and that you have the power to
choose which thoughts to engage with.
Reframe negative thoughts: Challenge
negative thoughts by actively replacing
them with positive or neutral alternatives.
Consider different perspectives or look for
evidence that contradicts your negative
beliefs.
Surround yourself with positivity: Engage
in activities and spend time with people
who uplift and inspire you. Positive
environments can have a profound impact
on your mindset.
Practice gratitude: Cultivate a habit of
recognizing and appreciating the positive
aspects of your life. This practice helps shift
your focus towards the good and reduces
negativity.
20
# Who control your time #
Seek support: If negative thoughts persist
or significantly impact your daily life,
consider reaching out to a mental health
professional who can provide guidance and
support.
Remember, freeing your mind from negativity
is an ongoing process that requires practice and
patience. It takes time to develop new thinking
patterns, but with perseverance, you can
cultivate a more positive and optimistic
mindset.
Practical tips for overcoming
procrastination and staying focused
Procrastination can be a major roadblock to
effective time management. It's the tendency to
delay or put off tasks, which can lead to a
significant loss of productivity and a
heightened sense of stress and overwhelm.
However, there are practical tips that can help
you overcome procrastination and stay focused
on your priorities.
One effective strategy is to break down your
tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. When
faced with a large project or a daunting task,
it's easy to feel overwhelmed and tempted to
procrastinate. By breaking it down into
smaller, more achievable steps, you not only
make the task more approachable but also
21
# Who control your time #
create a sense of progress and accomplishment
as you complete each step.
Another helpful technique is to set clear and
specific goals. Vague goals like "finish this
project" or "complete this task" can leave room
for ambiguity and make it easier to
procrastinate. Instead, define your goals in
terms of specific actions or outcomes. For
example, set a goal to write 500 words of your
report or complete a specific section by a
certain deadline. This clarity helps to create a
sense of urgency and focus, making it harder to
put off the task.
Additionally, it's crucial to create a conducive
environment for productivity. Minimize
distractions by turning off notifications on your
phone or computer, closing unnecessary tabs or
apps, and finding a quiet space where you can
concentrate. Consider using time management
techniques such as the Pomodoro Technique,
which involves working in focused bursts with
short breaks in between, to enhance your
productivity and maintain your focus.
Managing your energy levels is also key in
overcoming procrastination. Recognize when
you are most alert and productive during the
day, and schedule your most important and
challenging tasks during those peak times.
Additionally, taking regular breaks, engaging
in physical activity, and practicing self-care
22
# Who control your time #
can help to prevent burnout and maintain your
motivation.
Lastly, accountability can be a powerful tool in
combating procrastination. Share your goals
and progress with a trusted friend, colleague,
or mentor who can provide support and hold
you accountable. Consider joining a
mastermind group or finding an accountability
partner who shares similar goals and can
provide encouragement and motivation along
the way.
By implementing these practical tips and
techniques, you can overcome procrastination,
stay focused on your priorities, and master the
art of time management. Remember that it
takes practice and consistency to develop
effective habits, but the rewards of increased
productivity, reduced stress, and a greater
sense of accomplishment are well worth the
effort.

Chapter 5
Choosing the wrong life partner is a waste of
time
Choosing the wrong life partner can indeed result
in a significant waste of time. A life partner is someone
with whom we share our dreams, goals, and aspirations,
and build a future together. When we make a mistake in
choosing a compatible life partner, it can lead to
numerous negative consequences.
Firstly, when you enter into a committed
relationship with the wrong person, you may find that
your values, goals, and aspirations differ significantly.
This misalignment can create ongoing conflicts,
disagreements, and a lack of fulfillment in the
relationship. Over time, these issues can lead to
emotional strain and dissatisfaction, wasting valuable
time that could have been spent on personal growth and
happiness.
Secondly, being with the wrong life partner can
hinder personal development and prevent you from
reaching your full potential. A supportive and compatible
partner encourages personal growth, provides emotional
stability, and motivates you to pursue your dreams.
Conversely, a mismatched partner may stifle your
ambitions, discourage personal progress, or even divert
your focus from important goals. This can result in lost
opportunities and the squandering of your time and
potential.
24
# Who control your time #
Furthermore, a toxic or unhealthy relationship can
bring about emotional distress, anxiety, and even impact
your mental and physical well-being. Constant conflict,
lack of trust, or abuse in a relationship can consume your
time and energy, leaving you emotionally drained and
preventing you from leading a fulfilling life. Ending such
a destructive partnership can also take considerable time
and effort, further prolonging the waste of your precious
resources.
choosing the wrong life partner can have long-term
consequences, especially if the relationship leads to
marriage and starting a family. Incompatibility, differing
parenting styles, or ongoing unresolved issues can create
a hostile and unstable environment for children. This can
negatively impact their emotional well-being and hinder
their development. Moreover, divorce or separation can
be a lengthy and arduous process, resulting in prolonged
emotional distress for both partners and any children
involved.
In summary, selecting the wrong life partner can
be a significant waste of time due to constant conflicts,
hindered personal growth, emotional distress, and
potential long-term consequences. It is crucial to invest
time and effort in selecting a compatible and supportive
partner who shares similar values and aspirations to build
a fulfilling and harmonious life together.

Chapter 6
How money and power control your life
Money and power can indeed have a significant
impact on how time is controlled in one's life. Let's
explore how these factors influence the allocation and
use of time.
Firstly, money provides individuals with the means
to outsource certain tasks and responsibilities, enabling
them to free up their time for more important or
enjoyable activities. With financial resources, one can
hire professionals for various services such as cleaning,
cooking, childcare, or personal errands, allowing them to
focus on their priorities. Additionally, money facilitates
access to convenient services like home delivery and
transportation, saving valuable time that would have
otherwise been spent on mundane tasks.
Furthermore, financial stability grants individuals
the freedom to pursue their personal or professional
interests without the constraint of immediate monetary
needs. With a secure financial foundation, one can
prioritize activities that align with their passions or long-
term goals, dedicating more time to hobbies, personal
development, or meaningful experiences. In this sense,
money can be a driver of time allocation, enabling
individuals to have more control over how they spend
their days.
Power, on the other hand, can directly impact time
allocation through influence and authority. Individuals in
positions of power often have the ability to delegate tasks
to others, effectively managing their workload and
freeing up time for strategic decision-making or higher-
level responsibilities. Moreover, influential individuals
26
# Who control your time #
may have greater control over their schedules and the
flexibility to prioritize their time according to their
personal or professional objectives.
Additionally, power can open doors to exclusive
opportunities, networks, and resources that can optimize
one's use of time. Access to privileged information or
influential networks can result in more efficient and
effective decision-making, ultimately saving time that
would have otherwise been spent on extensive research
or trial and error.
However, it is important to note that money and
power do not guarantee optimal time management or
control. It ultimately comes down to an individual's
priorities, values, and personal approach to time. Some
people may prioritize work or financial success over
leisure time, while others may prioritize balance,
personal relationships, or self-care. Ultimately,
cultivating a healthy balance and leveraging resources
wisely can help individuals exert more control over their
time regardless of their financial or power status.
Strategies for balancing work and
personal life through effective time
management
Striking a balance between work and personal life
can be challenging in today's fast-paced world. However,
with effective time management strategies, it is possible
to achieve harmony and maximize productivity in both
areas.
One of the key strategies for balancing work and
personal life is setting clear boundaries. Establish
specific work hours and stick to them, ensuring that you
allocate dedicated time for personal activities and
27
# Who control your time #
relaxation. This not only helps you maintain a healthy
work-life balance but also prevents burnout and enhances
overall well-being.
Another important aspect is prioritization. Identify
your top priorities in both work and personal life and
allocate time accordingly. This requires a careful
evaluation of tasks and responsibilities, determining what
is urgent and important versus what can be delegated or
postponed. By focusing on high-priority tasks, you can
make the most of your time and ensure that both work
and personal commitments are met effectively.
Moreover, effective time management involves the
ability to delegate tasks and seek support when needed.
Recognize that you can't do everything on your own and
learn to trust others to assist you. Delegate tasks that can
be handled by colleagues or family members, freeing up
valuable time for more crucial activities.
In addition, incorporating breaks and downtime
into your schedule is vital for maintaining balance.
Taking regular breaks throughout the day allows you to

tools can greatly aid in managing time effectively.
Calendar apps, task management systems, and reminder

Chapter 7
The Seven Practices of Time Power
There are seven methods that you can use to help
develop the habits of time management. The more you
think about and practice these methods, the more rapidly
you will program yourself to be efficient, effective, and
highly productive.
First, remember that your self-image determines
your performance. You always perform on the outside in
a manner consistent with the picture you have of yourself
on the inside. Practice visualizing and imagining yourself
as you want to be, not as you may have been in the past.
You can actually change your self-image permanently by
re-peatedly visualizing yourself as someone who is
highly efficient and effective. See yourself as absolutely
excellent in time and personal management skills. Play
this picture over and over again in your mind’s eye until
it is accepted as a new set of commands by your
subconscious. At that point, effective time management
will become easy and automatic for you.
Second, remember that it takes about twenty-one
days of practice and repetition to form a new habit
pattern. It has taken you your entire lifetime to become
the person you are today, with the time management
habits you have at this moment. It takes time and
commitment to change, and for your subconscious mind
to accept the new commands, pictures, and affirmations
as your new operating instructions for your personal
behavior. Be patient with yourself. Don’t expect to
change everything at once.
Third, promise yourself that you are going to
become excellent at time management. Promise yourself
30
# Who control your time #
that you are going to be punctual, and that you are going
to concentrate on your most important tasks. Then,
promise others that you are going to be more effective
and efficient in the future. When you tell others, and
promise others, that you are going to become better at the
way you use your time, it makes it easier for you to make
a firm commitment to yourself to follow through on these
behaviors. When you know that other people are
watching to see if you will do what you said you would,
you tend to be far more disciplined and firm with
yourself.
Fourth, in developing the habits of time
management, start in just one area where poor time
management is holding you back. Don’t try to change
everything at once. Change just one habit or activity
where you know that improvement could be very helpful
to you. As you discipline yourself to improve in a single
area, you will find yourself becoming more productive in
other areas at the same time.
Fifth, launch your new time management habit
strongly. Never allow an exception once you have
decided that you are going to become excellent in a
particular behavior. If you decide to be punctual for
every appointment, discipline yourself to be early every
single time until the new habit of punctuality becomes a
permanent part of your behavior. If you decide to start
early and concentrate on your most valuable tasks,
discipline yourself to do this every single day for at least
three weeks until it becomes easy and natural for you to
start early on your highest priority. Never let yourself off
the hook. Never make excuses or rationalizations for
slacking off. Resolve to repeat the new behavior every
time until the new habit is firmly entrenched.

The Law of Belief says that ‘‘your beliefs become
your realities.’’ The more intensely you believe that you
can and will become excellent at time management, the
more rapidly this belief becomes your reality. If you hold
to your belief long enough and hard enough, it will
eventually materialize as new behaviors with regard to
time.
Time management is your key to personal
effectiveness, self-esteem, self-respect, and greater
personal productivity and happiness. With time
management, you can overcome any obstacle and
achieve any goal. With excellent time management skills,
you can take complete control over your life and your
future. Time management is your key to unlimited
success.

how can addicted behavior waste our time
Addicted behavior can significantly waste our time in
several ways. Firstly, addiction often leads to excessive
consumption of addictive substances or engagement in
addictive activities, such as drugs, alcohol, gambling, gaming.
This excessive consumption not only occupies a substantial
amount of time but also hampers our ability to focus on other
important aspects of life, such as work, relationships, or
personal growth.
Addiction tends to create a cycle of dependence, wherein
individuals feel compelled to constantly feed their addiction.
This constant craving and preoccupation with obtaining the
addictive substance or engaging in the addictive behavior can
consume a large portion of their thoughts and divert their
attention away from more meaningful and productive pursuits.
34
# Who control your time #
Furthermore, addiction often leads to a decline in
physical and mental health. The time spent on managing
addiction-related issues, such as seeking out the addictive
substance, recovering from its effects, or dealing with
withdrawal symptoms, can be significant. This time could have
been utilized for healthier activities or personal development.
Moreover, addiction can disrupt daily routines and
responsibilities. Individuals may prioritize their addictive
behavior over fulfilling their obligations, leading to neglect of
work, educational pursuits, family responsibilities, and personal
relationships. This neglect can result in negative consequences
and a waste of valuable time that could have been devoted to
personal and professional growth.
Addiction often perpetuates a sense of escapism, where
individuals seek solace in their addiction to avoid facing
underlying problems or emotions. This escapism can create a
vicious cycle where people use their addiction as a means to
avoid real-life challenges, resulting in a significant loss of time
that could have been spent addressing those issues
constructively.
In conclusion, addicted behavior can waste our time by
consuming excessive amounts of it, diverting our attention from
important aspects of life, diminishing physical and mental
health, disrupting daily routines and responsibilities, and
perpetuating a cycle of escapism. Recognizing the detrimental
effects of addiction and seeking help or adopting healthier
coping mechanisms is crucial to reclaiming our time and
leading a fulfilling life.
