what is the origin of the
Catholic Church
Question: "What is the origin of
the Catholic Church ?"
The Roman Catholic Church maintains that its origin
is
found in the death, resurrection and ascension of
Jesus Christ events that occurred approximately in
year 31 of our era.
The Catholic Church proclaims itself as the
Church for which Jesus Christ died, the Church that
was
established and built by the apostles.
The question is: Is that really the origin of the
Catholic Church?
Even a superficial reading of the New Testament will reveal that the Church
Catholic does not have its origin in the teachings of Jesus or His apostles.
1) . In the New Testament, there is no mention of the papacy.
2) . The veneration or adoration of Mary.
3) . the perpetual virginity of Mary.
4) . the ascension of Mary.
5) . Mary as co-redeemer and mediator).
6) . Petitions to the saints in heaven for their intercession.
7) . The apostolic succession.
8) . The ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments.
9) . Infant baptism.
10) . Confession of sins to a priest.
11) . The purgatory.
12) . The indulgences.
13) . The parallel authority of ecclesiastical tradition and Scripture.
So, if the origin of the Catholic Church is not found in the teachings of
Jesus and His apostles, as recorded in the New Testament, what is the
true origin of the Catholic Church?
During the first 280 years of Christian history, the
Christianity was banned by the Roman Empire, and the
Christians were terribly persecuted.
This changed after the emperor's “conversion.”
Roman Constantine. Constantine “legalized” the
Christianity in the Edict of Milan in the year 313.
Later in 325 AD Constantine called the Council
of Nicaea in an attempt to unify Christianity.
Constantine envisioned Christianity as a religion
that could unite the Roman Empire, which at that time
Time began to fragment and divide.
While this would have seemed to be a positive development
For the Christian church, the result was anything but
positive. Just as Constantine refused to adopt
filled the Christian faith, but continued with many of his
pagan beliefs and practices; so does the church
Christianity that Constantine promoted was a mixture of
true Christianity with Roman paganism.
Constantine discovered that with the great extension
of the Roman Empire, so diverse and expansive,
everyone would agree to renounce their beliefs
religious and embrace Christianity instead.
So Constantine allowed, and still
promoted the “Christianization” of
the
pagan beliefs. And so, beliefs pagan Christian
completely pagan and beliefs doctrines
totally unbiblical things they gave
him
new identities
“Christianity ”
Some clear examples of this are the
following:
1 The Cult of Isis : An Egyptian mother-goddess
religion, it was absorbed into Christianity, replacing
Isis with Mary.
Many of the titles that were used by Isis, such as
“Queen of heaven”, “Mother of God”, and “theotokos” (who gave
life to God) were awarded to Mary.
Mary was granted a
exalted role in faith
Christian, far beyond
of what the Bible
describes about her, to
attract worshipers
from Isis to faith, than from
another
way they wouldn't have
adopted.
The first clear signs of Mariology
catholic occurred in the writings of Origen,
who lived in Alexandria , Egypt, who
It happened to be the focal point of Isis worship.
2 Mithraism : Mithraism was
a religion in the Roman
Empire from the 1st century
to the 5th century AD
Mithras was a god known in ancient times, mainly
in Persia and India. Mithras was the god of sunlight, of origin
Persian that was adopted in the Roman Empire. The holy day
of Mithraism was Sunday, He is represented as a
young man, with a Phrygian cap, representing the sun, the
who is killing a bull with his hands. That was how
changed the Sabbath day ordained by God as a day of rest,
and in its place Sunday was instituted, a day dedicated to
the sun god.
Mithraism was very popular among
Romans, especially among the soldiers
Romans, and possibly was the religion of
many Roman emperors. While
“official” status was never granted to the
Mithraism in the Roman Empire was in fact
the official religion, until Constantine and the
subsequent Roman emperors replaced
Mithraism with Christianity.
One of the key characteristics of
Mithraism was a sacrificial meal, the
which consisted of eating the meat and drinking
the
blood of a bull. MITRAS, THE GOD OF
MITHRAISM WAS “PRESENT” IN THE FLESH
AND THE
BLOOD OF THE BULL, and when they were
consumed, they
granted salvation to those who took
part in the sacrificial meal . (theophagy,
practice of eating the body of a god).
Mithraism also had SEVEN “SACRAMENTS ”, making the
similarities between Mithraism and Roman Catholicism too
many to ignore.
Constantine and his successors founded an easy substitute
for the sacrificial meal of Mithraism in the concept of the
Lord's Supper/Catholic Communion
Sadly, some early Christians began to add mysticism
to the Lord's Supper, rejecting the biblical concept of a
simple act of worship and reminder of the death and
bloodshed of Christ.
The Romanization of the Lord's Supper
transitioned to a consummation of the sacrifice of
Jesus Christ, now known as the
Catholic Mass/Eucharist.
3 Most Roman emperors (and citizens) were
winemakers. An enotist is someone who believes
in the existence of many gods, but has a primary
focus on one particular god, or considers one
particular god to be supreme over the other gods.
For example, the Roman god Jupiter,
was supreme over the “pantheon” (the
totality of the gods) Roman. The
Roman sailors were often
worshipers of Neptune, the god of
oceans.
When the Catholic Church absorbed the
Roman paganism, simply replaced the
“pantheon” of gods with saints.
Just as the pantheon of Roman gods had a god of love,
a god of peace, a god of war, a god of strength, a
god of wisdom, etc., the Catholic Church has a saint who
“is in charge” of each of these characteristics, and there are
many other categories.
Likewise, just as many cities
Romans had a specific god for
city, the Catholic Church also provides its
“patron saints” for cities.
4 The supremacy of the Roman
bishop (the papacy), was created with
the help of the Roman emperors.
With the city of Rome being the
center of government of the Roman
Empire, and with the Roman
emperors living in Rome, the city of
Rome rose to preeminence in all
facets of life.
Constantine, and his successors, gave their support to the
bishop of Rome as the supreme ruler of the
church. Of course, it was better for the unity of the
Roman Empire, that the ruler and the seat of the
religion will be found centered in the same place.
While many other bishops (and Christians) resisted
the idea of there being a supreme Roman bishop,
eventually the Roman bishop rose to supremacy,
through the power and influence of the Roman
emperors.
When the Roman Empire collapsed in 476,
as prophesied by Daniel 7:7,8 , the popes
took the title that had previously belonged
to Roman emperors – “Pontifius Maximus.”
Many other examples can be given, but these
four may be enough to demonstrate the
true origin of the Catholic Church.
Of course, the Roman Catholic Church denies the
pagan origin of their beliefs and practices. The
Catholic Church disguises its pagan beliefs under
layers of complicated theology. The Catholic Church
excuses and denies his pagan origin behind the mask of
“ecclesiastical tradition ”.
Recognizing that many of your beliefs and
practices are totally foreign to the Bible; church
Catholic is forced to deny authority and
sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures.
The origin of the Catholic Church is tragic
commitment of Christianity to religions
pagans that surrounded her.
Instead of proclaiming the
Gospel and convert
the pagans, the Church
Beliefs Christian
pagan doctrines
Catholic “Christianized”
pagan religions,
and “paganized” the
Christianity.
By mixing the differences and erasing the
distinctive characteristics, yes, the Catholic Church
made herself attractive to the people of the empire
Roman.
One of the results was that the Catholic Church
became the supreme religion in the
“Roman world” for centuries until the day of
today.
However, another result was the most
dominant form of apostasy from Christianity
of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and the
true proclamation of the Word of God.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 states, “ For the time will come when
they will not endure sound doctrine, but having itching
hear, teachers will be gathered according to their own
lusts, and they will turn away their ears from the truth and
They will return to fables. ”
Therefore, the call that is made through this
issue, is that we return to the pure doctrine of
Holy Scriptures taught by Christ and his
apostles and obeyed by Mary the mother of Jesus
and the other women, who "kept the Sabbath
according to the commandment.
Read (Luke 4:16; 23:56; Acts 13:14,27,42, 44;17:2).
