THE TOOLS OF
URANIAN ASTROLOGY
The book you have in your hands does not pretend to prove anything scientifically,
nor that our methods are accepted by everyone. It simply bears testimony to our own
research and experiences.
It is a book that was born from our desire to get to the point.
The ideas collected throughout our readings, or research on the astrology of
Uranus on the Internet, have become the driving force of our reflections. Reinhold
Ebertin's book, Combinations of Astral Influences, published by Editions du Rocher,
was a “revelation”, a new global awareness in the interpretation of a subject. Then,
the astrological teaching disseminated by the Hamburg School became our
“philosopher's stone”, a pillar in the various methods applied to our research in this
field. On this subject, we refer the reader to our various brochures, as well as to the
teaching provided by the IAUDP (Institute of Uranian Astrology and Personal
Development).
The same idea, the same common thread must be perceptible throughout our
various astrological investigations, namely, the emergence of a new thought, which
leads us to develop a close relationship between the self and the cosmos, a
constructive harmony between our actions and our earthly future. , influenced by
cosmic energies.
We have found some phrases that illustrate these comments in the various
conferences of renowned astrologers, whether Reinhold Ebertin, Jacques Vanaise or
Klöcher:
"The interpretation of a birth chart, like that of life events, becomes easier and
more understandable if we start from the principle that all action arises from an
internal state, and that all external events

With the discovery of these new celestial bodies, astrologers had to incorporate new
planetary values into individual and global horoscopes. On the other hand, the last thirty
years have provided a large amount of information about asteroids and comets. As of this
writing, new asteroids like Sedna have been discovered beyond Pluto's orbit, in what is
known as the Kuiper Belt.
Astrologers have studied horoscopes incorporating these new celestial bodies, and this
in all possible charts: natal, progressed, solar revolutions, world charts... Others have not
had the curiosity to integrate these new elements into their interpretations. Some, finally,
simply reject new celestial influences and recently discovered techniques.
eclipses, planetary hours with their different house systems (Placidus, Regiomontanus...),
emerged with greater or lesser popularity. Most of these methods have gradually fallen into
disuse.
Incomplete teaching and the difficult use of these techniques due to complex calculations
have left them forgotten. Fortunately, the advent of modern technology (computers, calculators,
etc.) has eliminated this difficulty.

Astrology is becoming more and more democratic. As the world changes, Uranus astrology
describes a new paradigm. The Uranus system is practical and creative. For 75 years, it has
provided more precise answers rarely available with traditional astrology.
As we have seen in history, the Uranus system, practiced primarily in the United States,
finds its source in the work of Alfred Witte, the founder of the Hamburg school of astrology. He
was the brilliant inventor of the 90° wheel, which allowed for a more detailed examination of a
horoscope. He used and developed several ancient but effective techniques: midpoints and
planetary figures, among others. He considered that there were planets beyond the orbit of
Neptune, which he called trans-Neptunians.
The Uranus system is distinguished from other systems by the use and interpretation of the
following methods: • use of mobiles: wheels of 90°, 45°, 22°30 and their lils
things,
• planetary images (midpoints, sensitive points, etc.), • directions of the solar arc, •
incorporation of trans-neptunian planets in the horoscope.
The Uranian astrologer is also a traditional astrologer and uses each system to complement
the other. This chapter gives you an overview of the unique device employed in the Uranus
system. The latter, in Europe, is especially known for being that of the Hamburg School. Most of
the functions and techniques used, listed below, will be developed in the following chapters:
To complete this brief summary of the tools made available to the Uranian
astrologer, it is worth emphasizing what the Hamburg school does not interpret
(see table below). You may have noticed that we are not talking about the
traditional aspects. Ignoring the essential basis of astrology, which are the angles
between the planets, has earned Uranian astrology much criticism for decades.
Furthermore, the incorporation of hypothetical planets has precipitated it into the
most total marginality. But fortunately times are changing.

1. The signs in Uranus astrology are only used to position planets and personal points when plotting. We no longer
find them in interpretation.
2. Only the Ascendant (ASC) and the Midheaven (MC) are used.
3. Use in traditional astrology of the Placidus house system. House meridians will not be
discussed in this book.
4. In Uranus astrology, only the multiple aspects of 22°30 are used, plus conjunctions.

Chapter IV
We will now study the main basis of the structure on which Uranus astrology is based,
namely the use of the midpoint technique.
There are two horoscopic factors: a planet in aspect with another planet, or with an angle (MC,
Asc).
6
7
Machine Translated by Google
The angular aspects between two horoscopic factors have precise values. For example
opposition (180°), conjunction (0°), sextile (60°), square (90°), etc.
Definition of a midpoint
Here, two planets can form a planetary figure, or midpoint, even if they are not in traditional
aspect. It is enough to calculate the distance in degrees that exists between any two horoscopic
factors, and divide this distance by two.
Therefore, the midpoints are not based on a specific angular relationship between the
planets. Midpoint combinations, as we employ them in Uranus astrology, involve two planets and
a sensitive point, the latter located between the two planets involved, equidistant from each other.

Above, (C) is the midpoint of the planets Venus (A) and Mercury (B). If by chance a planet is
in the same place as C, let's take Jupiter for example, the notation of this combination will
be the following:
A/B = C (6) or P / O = R
Let's see how else to express our A/B = C combination with our P/O = R
example. We have: (A + B) divided by 2 = C or
6

(P + O) divided by 2 = R
(A + B – C) is what is called a planetary figure. In our example, this will give (P + O - R).
What if the middle of (A + B), therefore (C), is not occupied by any planet?
This is not a problem. In the Uranus system, we will then take into account the
axis through C, even if C is empty of planets. Thus was born the concept of
planetary image. A planetary image is a combination of three or more zodiacal
elements (planets, Aries Point, North Node, etc.) around a common axis. We will
develop these concepts a little later.
Let's go, to show you the procedure to follow, to study the birth chart of Christian
Ranucci, the last condemned to death in France, executed in 1976 by guillotine. He
was born on April 6, 1954 in Avignon at 5:45 p.m.
6. Here, A/B does not mean “A divided by B,” but rather the midpoint of A and B.

Figure 4.1: Birth chart of Christian Ranucci, with the trans-Neptunian planets.
We notice that many aspects are present in this topic.
Take for example the planet Mars: it is in aspect with Pluto (trine), with Neptune (sextile), with Venus
7

Machine Translated by Google
In Uranian astrology we are not going to be interested in all these traditional aspects. For us, the
planet Mars will relate to all other planets through the midpoints, that is, it will form a midpoint with
Pluto, Neptune, Venus, Jupiter, etc.
In this chart, there is no aspect between Mars and Uranus. For a traditional astrologer, no
relationship between these two planets will be taken into account in the interpretation. In Uranus
astrology, the energy of Mars is connected to that of Uranus by its midpoint. In other words, the
functions of the two planets are concentrated at one point of the zodiac, which is their midpoint.
If we now want to find the Mars/Uranus midpoint, we just have to calculate the distance in degrees
that separates the two planets and then divide it by two. Let's look at the calculations: Mars is 27°42'
from Sagittarius, or 267°42' from the ecliptic (0° Aries).
To find the midpoint between Mars and Uranus, we have to divide this angular difference by two,
that is: 158°39': 2 = 79°20'.
We then add this value of 79°20' to the position of Uranus, which is 109°03'. This gives us 188°23'
from 0° Aries, which corresponds to 8°23' from the sign of Libra.
Conclusion: The Mars/Uranus midpoint is at 8°23' in Libra (see appendix A1, page 77).
Let's go back to our example chart and find the Sun/Uranus midpoint. With just a glance, we can
see that it should fall at the beginning of the sign of Gemini. Let's calculate its exact position:
Distance between the Sun and Uranus: 109°03' – 16°23' = 92°40' Divide this
angular difference times two, i.e. 92°40': 2 = 46°20' Midpoint
Sun/Uranus = 16°23 ' + 46°20' = 62°43' from 0° Aries, that is, 2°43' in the sign of
Gemini.
What do you notice near this midpoint? We find the Moon there, if it falls at 1°53' from
7

the sign of Gemini. The deviation (or orb) is 0°50', which is small.
We therefore have the following planetary figure: Sun/Uranus = Moon.
We are not yet in the interpretation of these astrological figures or midpoints, but know
that these are important elements in a natal chart (and other sky charts: solar revolution,
transits...), because they allow a better understanding. about the topic
In the example above, we will say that the Moon is at the direct midpoint of the
Sun/Uranus planetary figure. With our Mars/Uranus example, the direct midpoint is 8°23' in
Libra.
Let's look at Appendix A1 (page 77): it indicates all the direct midpoints of our example
topic. This listing is easy to read. If we want to know what planetary energies are active at
0°00' of the sign of Libra, we see for example that Saturn and Pluto have their midpoint at
0°07'.
Grades:
1) To familiarize yourself with the midpoints, we already recommend that you note, in all
the charts you make, the location of the following midpoints: Sun/Moon and Asc/MC.
These two midpoints are in fact representative of the entirety of an individual. They inform
us about their temperament, their resources and motivations (MP Sun/Moon), the place
they occupy in their environment and the events that are likely to modify the normal
course of their existence (MP Asc/MC). We will study them in more detail later.
2) At the moment, it is recommended to take a 1°30' orb (2° maximum) for all midpoints.

Chapter V
A GREAT TOOL:
THE 90° WHEEL
We saw it in the previous chapter: the search for direct midpoints takes time, unless it is
computerized. As for the indirect midpoints, let's not talk about it: whether with the eight-pointed
cross or with the help of the resonance point tables, it is a laborious job.
The Uranus school of astrology offers an essential and very practical tool to determine the
midpoints easily and without calculations: we call it the 90° Wheel. This circle, which “amplifies”
our vision by 4, has the advantage of concentrating the 360° of the zodiac in just 90°. This will
allow us to find the midpoints and planetary figures of a chart much more easily.

90° only. As you can see below, the 90° wheel is divided into three equal 30° parts: 1)
0° to 30°, 2) 30° to 60°, and 3) 60° to 90° (or 0°).
The three types of signals have been distributed on the wheel as follows: °
1) from 0° to 30 : the cardinal signs
2) from 30° to 60°: the fixed signs 3) of
60° to 90°: the mutable signs.
We will take a concrete example and order the planets and points. personnel (Asc,
MC...) in the wheel.
We will often refer to the planets in a chart with three (sometimes two) letter
abbreviations. Thus the Sun will be denoted SOL, Apollo APO, Jupiter JUP, etc. (see
the symbol table at the beginning of the book).

We find on each side, at equal distance from the axis, two planets: Apollo and Uranus.
We will then say that the midpoint APO/URA = PB = HAD.
Definitions of these midpoints are given in the chapter on double combinations
(page 261). For the moment, we will give you succinct definitions, without going deeper
into what these figures may represent.
For Uranians, the APO/URA midpoint is the symbol of astrology. The PB-HAD axis
represents a secret and esoteric connection from the distant past.
Summary: Alfred Witte was in close relationship with the laws of the universe (PB-
HAD) and was passionate about astrology (APO/URA), a symbolic and esoteric
expression of great cosmic principles.
Notes: This
example is not taken at random. In fact, it is customary, to symbolize the Hamburg
School of Astrology, to use the planetary figure APO + URA – HAD. In a chart, this
figure represents, depending on its more or less strong position, interest in Uranian
astrology. In fact, if this planetary figure falls, for example, near a personal point like
the PB, then you will be connected to astrology despite yourself, and this will open
extraordinary doors to an esoteric knowledge of it.
But will you be understood? Alfred Witte, in his time, was surrounded by students
he could fully trust; the strength that emanated from his group was unbreakable. Out of
the ordinary energies emerged from this Hamburg school of astrology; the occult was
also present. But today, in the modern astrological world, innovative schools can be
counted on the fingers of one hand. As for the atmosphere that is given off there, we
are most of the time far from any mysticism.

90° wheel. These are your native coordinates again: April 6, 1954 at 5:45 p.m. UT in Avignon (topic page 70).
The following table shows, in the left column, the astral positions of birth and, in the right column, the
same positions on the 90° wheel.
Table 5.4
Let's now position the planets of Christian Ranucci's birth chart on the 90° wheel:
8
9

We have highlighted the planets Saturn and Vulcan in the diagram. Saturn, which
is 07°31' in the sign of Scorpio, is positioned at 37°31' on the 90° wheel. In fact, as we
have seen, the sign of Scorpio begins at 30° and ends at 60° on the 90° wheel.
Another example: 45° on the 90° wheel corresponds to 15° of the signs of Taurus, Leo,
Scorpio and Aquarius.
The planet Vulcan, for its part, is located in the native at 24°44' from Gemini, which
positions it at 84°44' on the wheel. In fact, on the 90° wheel, Gemini starts at 60° and
ends at 90° (or 0°). Another example: if we take the position of 75° in this same sector,
it corresponds to the 15th degree of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.
Now let's look at Christian Ranucci's Soleil behind the wheel. Table 5.4 tells us that
the Sun's natal position is 16°23' in Aries. On the 90° wheel, the sign of Aries starts at
0° and ends at 30°. We will therefore have the Sun in this sector at 16°23'.
Likewise, all natal planets found in cardiac signs

The ends will be integrated into this sector (0° to 30°) of the wheel.
To familiarize you even more with the 90° wheel, let's look at one last example:
that of Princess Diana, born on July 1, 1961 at 18:45 UT in Sandringham,
England. The following figure is the representation of your birth chart in traditional
astrology. Figure 5.7 represents the theme transposed to the 90° wheel.

LEXICON II
PLANETARY IMAGES
As we have seen, we owe the use of planetary images, also called planetary
figures, to the German astrologer Alfred Witte.
Its use in the interpretation of a theme dates back more than 80 years.
The Hamburg school is the only one that uses these images, which are similar to the
“Arab parts” system (8), although with some differences. In fact, Uranus astrology uses
three horoscopic factors (like the parts), but also integrates the trans-Neptunians and
the midpoints into the formulas. The astrologer Bonatti, in the 13th century, left us
some writings on the Arab parts, and Alfred Witte developed the system of planetary
figures.
Uranian astrologers are faced, like their other colleagues, with having to provide
answers to their clients' questions, or carry out research on this or that topic. Then it
will be appropriate to use the planetary images that relate to the question.
8. To obtain an Arab Part, the positions of two planets (or particular points) are added and that of a third planet is
subtracted.
Example: we want to know if a person is going to get married next year. By the
very nature of the question, of a sentimental and happy nature, we know that the
planets Venus or Cupid (love), as well as Jupiter (the legalization of love), possibly
deal with a personal point such as Asc, MC or NN (contact).
The planetary images have therefore been defined from the meanings of each
29
3
Machine Translated by Google
horoscopic factor (planet, personal point, etc.), and no longer combined by two in
terms of aspects, but by three. For the question that interests us (marriage), we
will therefore look for, for example, the position of the following planetary image:
NORTH NODE + VENUS – JUPITER
which means in symbolic image: Meeting, contact (NN) around the legalization
(JUP) of a love (VEN).
Planetary images also help us to point out events in global astrological charts
such as the New Moon.
Add: NN + FRI = 07°50' + 33°11 = 40°61' or 41°01'. Subtract the value from JUP,
i.e.: 41°01' – 48°54'.
29
4
Machine Translated by Google
Since it is not possible to do the subtraction directly, you must add 90° to 41°01, that is,
131°01'. 131°01' – 48°54 = 82°07'
The planetary image of marriage falls at 82°07'. Let's position our axes relative to this
point as usual.
Comments:
1) On the axes of this planetary image, we observe in transit: Jupiter, Vertex and
Saturn.
Interpretation: the goal to be achieved (JUP and SAT) to be in harmony with one's destiny
(Vtx) is emotional in nature and ends with a marriage (NN+VEN JUP).
2) In the axes of the image we have a solar arc: Cupid, Mercury, MC, Neptune, Sun.
Interpretation: Day (SOL) of signing (MER) of a wedding (CUP) lived (MC) as in a dream
(NEP). Your dearest dream comes true.
General remarks
Planetary images, in the charts, will help you specify the nature of an event in your
research or during a question asked by a consultant.
The list of images in this lexicon is, of course, not exhaustive. As an astrologer, it is
29

The planetary images that we give you below are just a sample of the multiple
combinations that can be obtained by associating three horoscopic factors (planets
and personal points). In fact, combinations of three factors A, B and C can result in
A+BC, A+CB and also B+CA. Although each of them will be located in a different place
on the Wheel, these three planetary figures (A+BC; A+CB; B+CA) have the same
meaning.
Another example: the figure corresponding to an artist can be the association of the
following planets: a) PB+VEN-CUP, but also b) CUP+APO-VUL,
and also c) SOL+CUP-KRO and there are many others...
