INTRODUCTION:
What is “AgroTech”?
It is the use of technology in agriculture, horticulture and aquaculture with the aim of
improving yield, efficiency and profitability. Agricultural technology can be products,
services or applications derived from agriculture that improve various input/output
processes.
Advances in agricultural science, agronomy and agricultural engineering have led to applied
developments in agricultural technology.
Idea Generation:
The history of agriculture has been shaped by technological advances. Historians have
described a number of agricultural revolutions, which identify major shifts in agricultural
practice and productivity. These revolutions have been closely connected to technological
improvements.
A major turning point for agricultural technology is the Industrial Revolution which
introduced agricultural machinery to mechanise the labour of agriculture, greatly increasing
farm worker productivity. Modern mechanised agriculture powered machinery has
replaced many farm jobs formally carried out by manual labour or by working animals such
as Oxen, Horses and mules.
Since the 20th century saw major advances in agricultural technologies, including the
development of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides and new agricultural machinery
including mass produced tractors and agricultural aircraft for aerial application of
pesticides. More recent advances have included agricultural plastics, genetically modified
crops, improved drip irrigation and soilless farming techniques such as hydroponics,
aquaponics and aeroponics.
In the first decades of the 21st century, Information age technologies have been increasingly
applied to agriculture. Agricultural robots, agricultural drones and driverless tractors have
found regular use on farms, while digital agricultural and precision agriculture make use of
extensive data collection and computation to improve farm efficiency.
Types Of Agricultural Technology:
Following are the agricultural technologies we are aiming for implementing on our farm
land. They are as follows.
1 Agricultural Drone
2 Satellite photography
3 IoT- based sensor networks
4 Phase tracking
5 Weather forecasts
6 Automated irrigation
7 Light and Heat control
8 Intelligent software analysis for pest and disease prediction, soil management and other
involved analytical tasks.
9 Biotech
10 Hydroponics, soilless farming technology
11 Soil moisture sensors
Agricultural Drone:
It is an unmanned aerial vehicle used to help optimize agriculture operations,
increase crop production, and monitor crop growth. Sensors and digital imaging
capabilities can give farmers a richer picture of their fields. Using an agricultural
drone and gathering information from it may prove useful in improving crop yields
and farm efficiency.
Agricultural drones let farmers see their fields from the sky. This bird’s –eye- view can
reveal many issues such as irrigation problems, soil variation and pest and fungal
infestations.
Additionally the drone can survey the crops for the farmer periodically to their liking.
Weekly daily or even hourly pictures can show the changes in the crops over time,
thus showing possible “trouble spots”.
Satellite photography:
Geographic information systems(GIS) tools and online web resources can help
farmers to conduct crop forecasting and manage their agriculture production
by utilizing multispectral imagery collected by satellites.
When agriculture management software is not in place, vegetation and soil
index imagery can be reviewed in Google Earth Pro for regional farmers to
identify areas in the fields, requiring a closer analysis to decide if additional
irrigation or fertilization of the crop is required.
3 IoT-Based Sensor Networks:
IoT plays a very smart role in smart agriculture.
IoT sensors are capable of providing information about agriculture fields. We have
proposed an IoT and smart agriculture system using automation.
This IoT based Agriculture monitoring system makes use of wireless sensor networks
that collects data from different sensors deployed at various nodes and sends it
through the wireless protocol.
This smart agriculture using IoT system is powered by Arduino, it consists of
Temperature sensors, Moisture sensor, Water level sensor, DC motor and GPRS
module.
4 Phase tracking:
Phase tracking refers to the agricultural cycle or the annual cycle of activities
related to growth and harvest of a crop.
These activities include loosening the soil, seeding, special watering, moving
plants when they grow bigger and harvesting among other.
The main steps for agricultural practices include preparation of soil, sowing,
adding manure and fertilizers, irrigation, harvesting and storage.
5 Weather Forecast:
Weather forecasts for agriculture can be grouped into short range forecast(up
to 48 hours) medium range forecast (3-10 days) and long range forecast(one
week to entire season).
Each plays an important role in farm operations and planning of agricultural
activities.
So above are some of the ways which we will be implementing on our AgroTech
farm to get better yield considering the sustainable development in accordance with
nature.
Demand Analysis of the product in the market:
Infoholic’s market research report predicts that the global AgriTech market will grow
at a CAGR of more than 18% during the forecast period 2019-2025. The market for
AgriTech market is primarily driven by the increasing demand for enhancing the
crops productivity and cultivation. The integration of various AgriTech technologies

Net Profit per Year:
As per Section10(1) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 agricultural income is exempted
from taxation. The central government cannot levy tax on the agricultural income
received.
So the Net Profit per Year will vary, something between 500,000 to 700,000
depending on the weather conditions like rainfall, natural calamities, percentage of
cropping success or cropping failure.

Break Even(Rs.) 7,50,260
Break-Even Analysis refers to the point in which total cost and total revenue are equal. A
break-even point analysis is used to determine the number of units needed to cover total
costs(fixed and variable costs).
Break-Even Point= Fixed cost*100/(fixed cost + net profit )
=7,50,260*100/(7,50,260+ 6,00,000)
=75,02,6,000/1,35,0,260
=55.56%
Risk Management:
The risks that may occur in the establishing the boutique are follow.
Venues and cash inflow of the project may be lower than the expected in
different years.
Political changes may hamper the production of the project.
Shortage of laborers or their strike may hinder production process.
Macroeconomic factors like inflation can hamper on the project and fluctuation
of demand.
Weather or natural calamities will also hamper the growth of crops.
Crop failure due to certain kind of diseases or bacterial growth and not doing
their timely treatment.
Conclusion:
The break-even point is at 55.56% of total sales. It means the “AGROTECH” will earn
profit after the 55.56% of the sale. When the company reaches at that point there will be
no profit and no loss. But when the company crosses the break-even point it will start
earning profit. So we can predict that having a profession of agriculture with the help of
technology has very much scope in future. There are many government policies which helps
in establishing the new entrepreneurs’ who have interest in Agro technology with minimal
interest rates. More over As per Section 10(1) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, agricultural
income is exempted from taxation.
