The Huns ethno village is an ideal place for those willing to relive the nomadic past of ethnic Kazakhs. The
village, about 35 kilometres from Almaty in the Talgar district, is also a great way to escape to the
mountains for a breath of fresh air, horseback riding and adventure.
The heart of the downtown Park of 28 Panfilov guardsmen named after the heroes who gave their lives
defending the county during the 2 World War and died in the battle for Moscow. The park is the eldest in
Almaty and a place of attraction for locals and guests of the city. It gives the sense of going through the
history of 20th century and has many interesting sights that date back to the period of Russian Empire
influence, Soviet period of Kazakhstan and modern independent Kazakhstan either. Guests will see
Ascension Cathedral – a beautiful building that was constructed in 1907. The cathedral survived the 1910
earthquake with minimal damage, even though it was built without any nails.
Green Bazaar is the oldest market place in the city, with more than 100 years of history. Green Bazaar
used to be one of the important trading points since 1875. Here guests can enjoy the atmosphere of an
oriental bazaar: see and try traditional dairy products, understand basic things about Kazakh cuisine, buy
fresh fruits, vegetables, dried fruits, and try other local delicacies as well as see ethnical diversity of
Kazakhstan – many of the vendors are Kazakhs, Uzbeks, Tadjik, Koreans and Russians.
Visitors can guess the origin of a vendor by the goods they sell: fresh dairy and meat are sold mostly by
Kazakhs, delicious fresh and dried fruit and vegetable by Uzbek and Tadjik, spicy salads and snacks by
Koreans and all kinds of pickles and herbal tea are mostly sold by Russians.
Guests will have some free time for shopping.
After visiting the Green Bazaar we would go to Rakhat Chocolate Boutique. Rakhat company is the
largest manufacturer of confectionery products in Kazakhstan. All products are manufactured according to
the Soviet recipe and Soviet GOST standards.
Arbat is the general name for pedestrian street where citizens enjoying their time. It`s well organized for
leisure with shopping facilities, coffeeshops and restaurants, playgrounds for kids and park areas around.
Usually all kind of artists make their performances all along the street.
11:00 Arriving to the Charyn Canyon (3 hours drive 200km). Trekking 2-4 km in the Canyon.
15:00-17:00 Transfer to the Kolsai Nomad hotel (with the picturesque view on the Kolsai lake)
13:00-15:30 Kaindy lake (off-road drive by 4x4 vehicle). Trekking 2 km (one way) from the parking
slot to the lake or horse riding to the lake (rental fee is not included)
14:00. Lunch
