I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

 Understand and define the eight elements of a short story.


 Analyze the presence and role of each element within a given short story.
 Create their own short story or storyboard that effectively incorporates all
eight elements

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: 8 Elements of Short story

Materials: Pop Up Book Illustration of Maria Makiling
3D Visual Aids showing the 8 Elements of Short Story

III. Procedures
A. Daily routine
i. Greetings
The teacher will greet the learners.

ii. Prayer
The teacher will choose one student to lead a prayer.

iii. Checking of Attendances


The monitor of the class will be requested to check the absent in the class.

iv. Classroom Rules


The teacher will remind the students regarding the classroom rules.

v. Review
The teacher will ask the students about their previous lesson.

B. Lesson Proper
B.1. Motivation (5 minutes)
Teacher will post three pictures; the students need to identify each
picture by arranging the jumble word in 5-10 seconds

B.2. Analysis (5minutes)


The teacher will start the class with an engaging question:
 What are your favorite stories or movies
 What makes a story memorable and captivating?

B.3. Abstraction (15 minutes)


The teacher will provide some questions to give the students ideas about what
lesson they will be having.
The teacher will briefly introduce the story “The Legend of Maria Makiling that
exemplifies the use of the 8 elements of a short story.

C. Presentation of Lesson
Introduction:
· The teacher will introduce the lesson by explaining that great short stories, like
their favorite movies and stories, have specific elements that make them
interesting.
· The teacher will state the learning objective: "Today, we will explore these key
elements of a short story and see how they work together to create a powerful
narrative."
· The teacher will explain the 8 elements of a short story and illustrate them using
parts of the story "The Legend of Maria Makiling.

D. Application
· The teacher will ask 2 volunteer students to stimulate the 8 parts of short story.
· The teacher will ask the students on how the 8 elements of a story interact to
create a complete narrative.
· The teacher will ask students questions such as:
 "How does the setting influence the mood of a story?"
 "Why is conflict essential to the plot?"

E. Generalization
· The teacher will ask the students to sum up the lesson.

IV. Evaluation
· The teacher will assess students' understanding and application of the 8
elements of a short story using "The Legend of Maria Makiling."

Instructions: In one whole sheet of pad paper. Write a summary of "The Legend of
Maria Makiling" in the right order. Highlight the parts that show the 8 elements: plot,
characters, setting, conflict, theme, point of view, tone, and symbolism.
Be guided by the following rubric:
RUBRIC
Content 50%
Proper arrangement of the elements 30%
Grammar 20%
TOTAL 100%

V. Assignment

· The teacher will post the assignment in the Google Classroom.


Instruction: Answer each question thoroughly, using specific examples from the text to
support your responses. Write your answers in complete sentences and ensure they are
well-organized. Submit your answers by [ June 5, 2024 ].
1. What are the main events that occur in "The Legend of Maria Makiling"?
2. Who are the main characters in the story?
3. Where does the story take place?
4. What is the central conflict in "The Legend of Maria Makiling"
5. What is the main message or moral of the story?
6. How does this point of view affect your understanding of the story?
7. How does understanding the elements of a short story enhance your appreciation of
"The Legend of Maria Makiling"?
8. If you were to rewrite "The Legend of Maria Makiling," what changes would you make
to the plot or characters?
9. Can you relate any part of the story to your own life or experiences?
10. Create an alternate ending for "The Legend of Maria Makiling." How does this new
ending alter the theme or message of the story?
