PROSPECTUS

BUHS Joint Entrance Test (BUHSJET-2024) is conducted for admission to

Nursing (B.S c. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing), Pharmacy
(B. Pharma & M. Pharma) and Paramedical (UG and PG) Program offered at
different affiliated colleges under the Bihar University of Health Sciences,
Patna.
Applications are invited form eligible candidates for admission into Nursing
(B .S c. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing), Pharmacy (B.
Pharma & M. Pharma) and Paramedical (UG and PG) Program for the
Academic Year 2024- 2025.

 About University
Introduction
Bihar University of Health Sciences, Patna has been established w.e.f 1st July 2022 by
the Govt. of Bihar through the enactment of the Bihar University of Health Sciences Act
2021 (Bihar Act 19 of 2021) to affiliate all the existing health science colleges and
institutions, set up by the Government and/or Trust or Society, which were earlier
affiliated to the conventional universities in Bihar with a purpose of ensuring proper,
systematic and uniform instruction, teaching, training and research in modern and Indians
systems of medicine.
The main ambition of the Bihar University of Health Sciences, Patna is to conduct and
facilitate affiliation of institutions set up by the Government and/or Trust or Society in
the conventional as well as new frontiers of professional education in Health Sciences for
the purposes of Affiliating, teaching and ensuring proper and systematic instruction,
training and research in Modern System of Medicine, AYUSH systems of Medicine,
Nursing Education, Pharmacy Education, Dental Education, Education on Laboratory
Technology, Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Education on
other Paramedical Courses and inter disciplinary areas such as Health Economics, Health
administration etc.
Objectives
The objectives of the University are to enrich the knowledge of different streams of
Health Sciences and to develop an environment conducive for research in the concerned
fields and their practical applications. The prime goal of the University is to create
Centers and Institutes of excellence in different streams of Health Sciences. Other
objectives of the University are as follows:
1- To develop professional education in different streams of Health Sciences in
response to the changing demands of the modern world and society;
2- To facilitate and encourage teaching, research, and extension in the matters
connected with professional education in different streams of Health Sciences;
3- To facilitate and ensure qualitative improvement in the teaching and learning
processes and methodologies;
4- To facilitate and ensure quality research in the contemporary and frontier areas of
knowledge in the field;
5- To facilitate the needs for and organize the process thereof for lifelong learning;
6- To disseminate knowledge and research findings emerging from the University, its
institutions, or otherwise across the world;
7- To establish uniformity in standards of education in all faculties of Health Sciences
including Modern System of Medicine, Ayush, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy,
Various Paramedical disciplines such as Medical Laboratory Technology,

 Physiotherapy & Occupational therapy, Speech therapy, other Para Medical
Courses and interdisciplinary fields like Health Economics, Health Administration,
Public Health Management, etc. with a view to augmenting and enhancing the
quality of such education and consistently aiming at modernizing, improving and
achieving the highest standards of academic excellence at all levels on mutual
understanding of all the systems of Health Sciences;
8- To develop centers of excellence for imparting State-of-the-art education, training,
and research in the fields of Health Sciences especially those which are not
adequately included in the syllabi and curricula of undergraduate and post-graduate
medical courses. These shall include population sciences, health systems research,
health services research, operational research, health systems and health services
management, health structure reforms, human resource development, educational
technology, bioinformatics and telematics, medical transcription, epidemiological
research technology, continuing education in Health Sciences, and any other
branch of Science as may be deemed expedient to be included;
9- To facilitate the creation and promote knowledge centers in various areas of
specialization and disseminate need-based relevant information electronically to
the client
10- To serve as an agency of quality improvement for teachers in their respective and
interdisciplinary fields;
11- To make such provisions as would enable affiliated colleges to undertake
specialization of studies.

 Eligibility & Important Instruction for Admission
For B.Sc Nursing
1. A candidate should have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry,Biology
(PCB) and English Core/ English Elective and must have obtained a minimum
of 45% marks taken together in PCB at the qualifying examination (10+2)
from the recognized board.
2. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State
Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by
Central Government having above mentioned subjects only.
3. English is a compulsory (Core/Elective) subject in 10+2.
4. Candidate shall be medically fit. However, Colour Blind candidates should be
considered for admission to Nursing Courses subject to the condition that
Colour corrective contact lens and spectacles are worn by such candidates.
5. Candidate shall be admitted once in a year.
The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the
year in which admission is sought.

For M.Sc Nursing

1. The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife or
equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
2. The Minimum education requirements shall be the passing of: B.Sc.
Nursing/B.Sc. Hons. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of
55% aggregate marks
3. The candidate should have undergone in B.Sc. Nursing /B.Sc. Hons. Nursing/
Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
4. Minimum one year of work experience after B.Sc. Nursing.
5. Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.

For Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing

1. Passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or
an equivalent examination recognized by the university for this purpose.
2. Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and
registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council. A male
nurse, trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides
being registered as a nurse with State Nurses Registration Council, shall
produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar
duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the following areas:

• Ophthalmic Nursing
• Leprosy Nursing
• TB Nursing
• Psychiatric Nursing
• Neurological and Neuro surgical Nursing
• Community Health Nursing
• Cancer Nursing
• Orthopedic Nursing
3. Candidate must complete 6 months of internship.
4. Candidates shall be medically fit.
5. Students shall be admitted once in a year.
6. Candidate must be registered under any STATE NURSES REGISTRATION
COUNCIL and bear Registration Number.
For B. Pharma/Paramedical (Bachelor course)
1. A candidate should have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry,Biology
(PCB) or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCB) in 10+2/Equivalent
examination from the recognized board.
2. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State
Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by
Central Government having above mentioned subjects only.
3. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December.

For M. Pharma/Paramedical (PG course)

1. Admission in M. Pharma Course taken by the Score of GPAT Entrance test.
2. Admission in Paramedical (PG course) taken on the basis of merit list
prepared by marks obtained by candidate in Bachelor Course of concerned
Stream.

 Instruction for filling the form
The online application form is required to be filled in CAPITAL LETTER (except
signature) Where information is required to be filled in boxes, write names in
CAPITAL LETTERS, leave one blank between first and middle name and also
between middle name and last name or initials of names. Your name, Father's name,
Mother's name and Date of Birth in the online application form should exactly be the
same as mentioned in the High School/Class X certificate. Any discrepancy, when
ever found, may lead to the cancellation of your candidature.
Note:
1. Your Application Forms will not be considered if not accompanied by
appropriate Certificates & Documents or received after the last date of
submission.
2. Incomplete application due to any reason is liable for rejection by
University.
Before posting application, please ensure that
• You have read and understood all the instructions/information given in the
Prospectus and given instruction carefully.
• You have completed the application and submit the online form as per given
instructions. Incomplete application forms shall not be entertained.
• You have to enclosed self-attested copies of all certificates and documents as
required. After verification if it is found that the certificates and documents
submitted by the candidate are fake, his/her admission shall be cancelled and
fee deposited will be forfeited and legal action may be initiated against the
candidate.
• You have to mention the Acknowledgement No/UTR Number/Online
Payment detail in in online application form
• In case the marks statement is not produced by the candidates at the time of
admission the decision of the Bihar University of Health Sciences regarding
his/her eligibility and admission to the programme shall be final.
• The candidate selected for admission must pay the required/prescribed fees,
in full at the time of admission.
• There is no provision of exemption of course fee & other charges for
any category of candidates.
• Candidates are advised to retain a copy of the payment for personal use and
record.
• No refund of course fee & other charges is allowed for any reason and in any
case.

• Ensure the correctness of your Mailing address, Pin code, E-mail,
Telephone/Mobile No. The University will not accept any responsibility for
any postal delay/irregularity or loss in postal transit.
• It is the responsibility of the candidates to ascertain whether they possess the
requisite qualification for admission. Having been called for the written test/
counselling does not necessarily means acceptance of the eligibility.
• After due date application form shall not be accepted.
• Admission to Nursing / Pharmacy / Paramedical (UG/PG) programme will
however be subject to verification of facts from the original
certificates/documents of the candidates. In case of any discrepancy, even at
later point of time after admission, the University reserves all right to cancel
the candidate's admission and this decision shall be final.
• Anyone who is already in employment (either whole times or part timer or in
honorary capacity shall not be admitted to the Nursing / Pharmacy /
Paramedical (UG/PG) (Regular) course without taking leave from the
employer for full academic Session.
Reservation
• Reservation of seats for the candidates of reserved categories will be as per
State Government's rules.
Criteria for admission
• Selection of candidates shall be made strictly as per rules of the University/
Department. For result visit on our website:
• The reservation policy of the State Government of Bihar (for educational
institutions) rules will be followed.
• No candidate can claim admission as matter of right.
• Selected candidates will be informed about their selection through website or
by notice board of the University (BUHS)/Authorized colleges.
• The candidate will have to produce the selection letter and all the original
documents as mentioned above, along with the Bank Draft of the amount
prescribed as fee for the course at the time of admission by the respective
college/department.
• The University reserves the right to amend the schedule, rules, course
structure and fee structure as and when it seems necessary.
• University will hold BUHSJET 2024 Entrance Test for selection of
candidate. Selection for admission shall be made strictly in order of merit.
• No Candidate will be permitted to appear in the Test without a valid Admit
Card. The admit card should be presented to the invigilators/other authorized
officials for verification. The candidate's identity will be verified in respect

 of his/her details on the Admit Card. If the identity is in doubt, the candidates
may not be allowed to appear in the Test. The authorities may at their
discretion provisionally permit the candidate to appear in the Test after
completing formalities including taking of thumb impression/several
signatures for further verification. No extra time will be granted for these
formalities to be completed.
• Each Candidate will be required to appear in the Entrance test only at the
Centre to which he/she has been allotted.
• No change will be made in the test Centre allotted to the candidate under
any circumstances.
• Candidates who have not filled from for BUHSJET entrance test will not be
considered for admission.

Note:
• No applicant shall be admitted, who has not applied for the admission within
notified time or who, on being selected for admission, does not get himself
admitted within the specified time, except where the delay has been condoned
by the Competent authority.
• The reservation in seats shall be given as per the rules of the Government of
Bihar.
• Relaxation in the qualifying marks in favour of the reserved categories shall
be as per the rules of the State Government.
• Candidates belong to other than Bihar State shall not be given benefits of
reservation policies. They will be treated as a candidate of general
category.
• Online Filled forms with required documents shall be submitted only
before the Last date University will not be held responsible for any Late
submission.

There will be objective type questions having multiple choice with four alternative answers
(numbered 1,2,3,4) to each question. Candidates are required to choose the correct one. For The
candidate will have to choose the correct answer and shade against the appropriate choice in the OMR
response sheet provided, strictly adhering to the instructions.
