INTRODUCTION
Architecture is the art and science of designing and constructing buildings and other quality
spaces. Whereas Human psychology is the study of the mind
and behaviour, exploring how people think, feel, and act .The
interplay between architectural design and human psychology
is very important, yet it remains unnoticed or even ignored
both in and outside the architectural field. It is very much
important to understand human psychology and design
deliver spaces that can enhance user experience. This will
gradually enhance the quality of space and the quality of life
of the occupant.
Many researchers have shown that human behaviour and architecture are closely connected.
Architectural Psychology actually helps in understanding the importance of architectural
spaces and designs in uplifting human behaviour and mental wellness. It also helps in the
development of great quality spaces that brings positive impact on human well being.
Architectural features such as colour, shape, size, etc. plays a very major role in determining
the quality of the space and the experience of the user. As Zaha Hadid said “Architecture
should be able to excite you, calm you, and make you think, do the spaces around you have a
conservation with you or do you enter a space, and it affects your mood.”
AIM:
To study and analyse how architectural design and spaces influence human behaviour on
various aspects and to provide guidelines for creating environment that improves the mental
well-being and productivity.
OBJECTIVES:
Understand the role of architectural design in reducing stress and improving creativity
in office environments.
Understand the importance of providing therapeutic environments in supporting
mental health and well-being.
Importance of use of architectural elements such as layout, lighting, colours, and
spatial configurations in uplifting human emotions, stress levels, and overall well-
being.
QUESTION:
LIMITATIONS:
Individual responses to architectural designs can be highly subjective and may change
from person to person.
Various details collected from case studies cannot be applied equally across different
region and populations.
Not only design, various other aspects are also dominant in deciding the mental health
of an individual
