DEV 612: Project Charter Assignment
Project Purpose
The purpose of this project is to develop sustainable water supply systems in rural areas of
Bangladesh to provide access to clean and safe drinking water. This initiative aims to
improve health outcomes, enhance the quality of life, and promote sustainable development
in rural communities.
2. Objective: Ensure that at least 90% of the rural population in the targeted areas has
access to clean drinking water.
- Success Criteria: Surveys and reports showing that 90% of the population has reliable
access to the new water systems.
- Secure funding and resources for the development and maintenance of water supply
systems.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals from local authorities.
- Engage with community stakeholders for input and support.
- Ensure the water supply systems meet local and international safety and environmental
standards.
- Implement a sustainable maintenance plan to ensure long-term operation.
Project Description:
The project involves the design, construction, and operation of sustainable water supply
systems in selected rural areas of Bangladesh. The systems will include boreholes, water
storage tanks, distribution networks, and water purification units.
Key Deliverables:
1. Design Phase: Complete architectural and engineering designs.
2. Construction Phase: Build the water supply infrastructure.
3. Installation Phase: Install water purification units and distribution networks.
4. Community Engagement Phase: Conduct training sessions and workshops on sustainable
water use and system maintenance.
5. Operational Phase: Begin supplying clean water to the communities.
The primary risks include delays in construction, budget overruns, regulatory hurdles, and
challenges in community engagement. Mitigation strategies involve thorough planning,
regular monitoring, contingency budgeting, and proactive engagement with regulatory bodies
and community leaders.
